DC reveals Alex Ross variant covers for JLA/Avengers #3 and Avengers/JLA #4

This summer, DC Comics and Marvel Comics are rereleasing the historic 2003-2004 JLA/Avengers crossover by Kurt Busiek and George Pérez as a series of facsimile edition comics. DC has revealed an Alex Ross variant cover for Avengers/JLA #4, arriving this August.

The new Ross cover art is part of a two-piece connecting image created exclusively for these new facsimile editions and is an homage to George Pérez’s cover of 1983’s Comics Interview Special Edition #6. Marvel will publish the first half of the piece on JLA/Avengers #3 in July, featuring the Avengers, and DC will publish the other half on Avengers/JLA #4, featuring the Justice League. Together, the two covers connect to form a face-off between the iconic teams.

It’s the grandest Marvel and DC comics crossover of them all and an icon-packed event decades in the making! After years of anticipation, JLA/Avengers reunited acclaimed writer Kurt Busiek (Marvels) with his Avengers collaborator George Pérez—an artistic legend for both companies—to assemble every single member of Earth’s Mightiest and the World’s Greatest in one blockbuster book! Universes collide as the Justice League fights the towering Terminus and the Avengers face the awesome menace of Starro! Each team must undertake an epic quest on the other’s world, with the fate of both realities in the balance!

DC and Marvel will faithfully reproduce the original four-issue saga with classic trade dress, original wraparound card stock covers, and the full story as it appeared in 2003 and 2004.

Bad Idea keeps the Gimmicks Flowing with the Tankers vs. Ancient Aliens Ancient Amber Edition

The next Tankers epic kicks off this June with Tankers vs. Ancient Aliens from writer Robert Venditti, art by Tomas Giorello, Trevor Hairsine, and more.

Publisher Bad Idea has no fear of bringing out some of the more creative gimmicks for their comics and this debut is no exception.

Tankers vs. Ancient Aliens #1 is getting an “Ancient Amber Edition” that contains a “Jurassic Insect.” These limited covers feature an epoxy resin with the prehistoric insect inside. But, don’t get your Jurassic Park dreams rolling, it’s a replica Jurassic insect.

The Tankers were sent back 65 million years into the past with a simple mission. To use their weaponized mech-suits to divert the asteroid that annihilated the dinosaurs and buy a little more time before extinction – and a lot more future oil reserves. But deep in Earth’s prehistoric past, something far deadlier than dinosaurs lies in wait. A species of star-faring, super-advanced ancient aliens! Battle-hardened by millennia of galaxy-spanning civil war, the ancient aliens have come to Earth armed to the teeth and ready to unleash the most fearsome arsenal unknown to man. Now the Tankers must wage an all-out war against ancient aliens and monstrous super-dinosaurs alike if they hope to fight their way back to a future worth saving!

Marvel Celebrates Disability Pride Month with New Covers and Stories Spotlighting Misty Knight, Daredevil, and more!

This July, Marvel Comics celebrates Disability Pride Month with an all-new saga starring heroes that represent strength and empowerment for the disability community. Written by Marieke Nijkamp and drawn by Andrea Di Vito, the story will be told in special backup stories across four issues: Amazing Spider-Man #32, Uncanny X-Men #31, Fantastic Four #14, and Wolverine #24. Each issue will also feature a Disability Pride Variant Cover by one of several seminal artists: Jamie McKelvie, David Mack, Aaron Kuder, Leinil Francis Yu, and Stephen Segovia.

Intersecting with a range of different disabilities, the iconic characters spotlighted include DAREDEVIL, MISTY KNIGHT, ECHO, HAWKEYE, SILHOUETTE and FINESSE. This formidable group of heroes will come together to save Colleen Wing from a deadly threat in an action-packed story highlighting the power of community and uplifting one another.

Marvel Celebrates Pride Month in a Galaxy Far, Far Away with Star Wars Pride Variant Covers

In addition to Wiccan & Hulking: Raid of Ultron, this year’s Marvel’s Voices Pride special, and a collection of Pride Variant Covers across Marvel titles this June, Marvel Comics is once again teaming up with Lucasfilm to celebrate Pride Month with all-new Star Wars Pride Variant Covers that honor the diverse LGBTQIA+ community of the galaxy far, far away.

This year’s collection is an epic connecting cover by acclaimed artist Rickie Yagawa that will span three June releases: Star Wars: Rogue One – Jyn Erso #1, Star Wars: Shadow of Maul #4, and Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – Echoes of the Empire #3. Marvel reveals DNX #1 Covers including True Believers Blind Bag Exclusives

EVOLUTION IS CONTAGIOUS! Announced earlier this month, DNX, a five-issue event series from Jed MacKay and Federico Vicentini, launches this September. MacKay’s acclaimed X-Men run on X-Men, including the recent Age of Revelation crossover, has led to this monumental saga that sees the X-Men and Fantastic Four join forces to prevent the Chairman, the misguided original Hank McCoy, from unleashing a virus that forcibly—and horribly—transforms humanity into mutants! Adding even more excitement to this latest mutant milestone, DNX #1 will be the next Marvel Comics launch available in True Believers Blind Bags, special sealed bags that contain exclusive variant covers not available for regular ordering, including rare, one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn sketch covers from surprise contributors. Today, fans can check out all-new variant covers for DNX #1, both regular open-to-order covers and blind bag exclusives.

Covers revealed today include the latest piece by best-selling cover artist Artgerm, spotlighting TEMPER, the fiery young X-Man and one of the breakout stars of MacKay’s run. Marvel’s Pride Variant Covers return in June. This year’s collection consists of five stunning covers of LGBTQIA+ Marvel characters drawn by Luciano Vecchio in his signature character spotlight variant cover style.

Here are the five characters featured this year:

  • Felicia Hardy, A.K.A. BLACK CAT, Marvel’s slyest and most skilled super-thief, currently starring in an acclaimed solo run by G. Willow Wilson and Gleb Melnikov.
  • Akihiro, the lethal mutant warrior and son of Wolverine, now bonded with the Spirit of Vengeance and raising hell in Inglorious X-Force by Tim Seeley and Michael Sta. Maria as HELLVERINE.

Heroes Suit Up to Overthrow the King in Black in Knullbuster Variant Covers

This summer, Hela isn’t the only one coming for Knull’s throne. New Knullbuster Variant Covers introduce the King in Black’s worst nightmare: five iconic Marvel heroes donning symbiote slaying armor! The new covers come from some of the industry’s boldest artists including Luciano Vecchio, Gurihiru, David Baldeón, Clayton Crain, and Zulema Scotto Lavina. The pieces reimagine Black Cat, Doctor Doom, Jeff the Land Shark, Punisher and Deadpool in cosmically enhanced suits specifically designed to end Knull’s latest reign of terror!

Queen in Black, a new crossover event from Al Ewing and Iban Coello, launches this July.
