IDW and Hunters Entertainment announce a Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees Tabletop Game

IDW and Hunters Entertainment have announced a new partnership, starting with a brand-new storytelling board game based on the acclaimed, Harvey Award-winning comic series Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees created by Patrick Horvath, published by IDW Publishing.

The game places players in the heart of a seemingly idyllic small town, where every character harbors hidden, dark secrets. When a murder shakes the community, players must work together to unravel the mystery of the crime while simultaneously protecting the skeletons in their own closets. Unlike traditional role-playing games, this experience doesn’t require a gamemaster. Instead, it blends exploration-style board game mechanics with rich storytelling elements, ensuring that every play session feels unique, tense, and deeply immersive.

The Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees – A Storytelling Mystery Game launched on Kickstarter this week. Fans eager to explore the secrets, solve the mystery, and keep their own lies hidden.

Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees collected edition sells out and gets a second printing

The cozy horror hit of the year went back to the printer.

Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees – the Eisner-nominated tale from Patrick Horvath and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou about an adorable anamorphic town that hides not one but two serial killers – took the comic book industry by storm. Praise and attention from fans, retailers, and press rose with every chapter in the six issue limited series, and then the collected edition was reported as the top-selling non-big two graphic novel when it debuted in September.  You can catch our glowing review.

The acclaimed collection sold 20k copies, immediately generating a reprint to ensure there’s no gap in availability for readers.

IDW Publishing’s horror imprint, IDW DARK will feature the eagerly anticipated sequel Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring. More details about the sequel will be announced in the months to come.

Is Oni Press teasing Patrick Horvath’s Free For All?

Patrick Horvath is a hot creator with Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees getting praised and receiving award recognition. That series will be getting a follow up through IDW Publishing’s horror imprint IDW Dark, but today Oni Press has teased something else from Horvath.

Coming March 2025 and with the text “In the future, the only thing left to fight for is yourself,” Oni released the below image. Could this be Horvath’s recently crowdfunded Free For All?

Funded through Zoop, that graphic novella’s description:

Welcome to the future. The world is at peace and thriving. Housing, food, education, healthcare… all of the basic requirements for living are now provided for by the World Finance League, and it’s all funded by a lottery. Wealthy citizens of the world are picked at random and given the choice to either donate half of their assets for the greater good of the world, or fight to the death to keep it all. Among these trillionaire gladiators, two former lovers square off in this global arena to settle their differences once and for all.

Regardless of who lives or dies, we all win.

Both mention the “future,” so good chance it’s the same comic… That would make another comic funded through Zoop coming to a major publisher and would also mean the Zoop edition could be extra sought after by collectors.
