Enter the Sex Criminals sketch cover contest

SEX CRIMINALS #11 contestImage Comics is pleased to announce that—in celebration of the second printing of Sex Criminals #11 by writer Matt Fraction and artist Chip Zdarsky—fans will have an opportunity to enter into a very special contest on Twitter and Instagram.

The Sex Criminals #11, second printing cover will be available on Wednesday, September 9th and feature a faceless Fraction and Zdarsky, allowing readers to fill in with their own sketches and post photos of their finished creations on Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag, #BrimperSketch.

Fraction and Zdarsky will then sift through the photos submitted with the #BrimperSketch hashtag and choose one winner. The winner will be announced on the Image Comics website the following week, Wednesday, September 16th.

The lucky winning participant will receive:

  • one (1) signed The Wicked + The Divine #2 Zdarsky variant where Zdarsky himself has eaten the portion of the cover with McKelvie’s face in order to gain his youthful powers.
  • one (1) signed copy of Just the Tips where Zdarsky has drawn a penis tip on every single page.
  • one (1) copy of Big Hard Sex Criminals signed by Fraction and with a personalized, handwritten erotic fan fiction story incorporating Chip Zdarsky and a character of the winner’s choosing.

Image Comics is pleased to announce that the #11 issue sketch cover will be going back to print to meet customer demand. The second printing of Sex Criminals #11 sketch cover (Diamond Code JUL158177) will release on Wednesday, September 9th.

Due to a high volume of demand, Sex Criminals #12’s release date will be delayed from the previous solicitation date and will instead hit shelves on Wednesday, September 16th, and can be ordered by retailers with Diamond Code MAY150540. Dark Horse Comics Announces Fight Club 2 Scratch-and-Sniff Bookmark Contest

At San Diego Comic Con International, Dark Horse Comics announced a scratch-and-sniff bookmark contest in support of the acclaimed Fight Club 2 mini-series, which is written by Chuck Palahniuk, illustrated by Cameron Stewart and colored by Dave Stewart, with covers by David Mack. Dark Horse Comics has provided 10,000 scratch-and-sniff bookmarks, numbered to correspond to a clue in the same-numbered Fight Club 2 issue, to select comic shops around the United States. Readers who correctly identify the scents on all five bookmarks are eligible to win the grand prize: every Fight Club 2 comic including variants, Fight Club 2 swag, an autographed collector’s edition of the Fight Club novel, and the hardcover Fight Club 2 graphic novel (available June 2016). Ten additional winners will receive copies of the Fight Club 2 graphic novel, and comics retailers chosen by winners will receive matching prizes.

Dark Horse will also be making a handful of bookmarks available to Diamond registered retailers who simply need to email Bookmark@DarkHorse.com with their name, store name, and Diamond account number to be entered into the contest. Winners will be selected at random and will be notified by Friday, July 17, 2015.

Titan Comics Launches Sally Of The Wasteland Art Competition!

Winner Announced For Darby Pop Publishing’s “Breaking Into Comics” Contest

stingrayAfter marathon reading sessions and high-spirited debate, IDW-distributed Darby Pop Publishing has announced the winner of its “Breaking Into Comics” writing contest.  The company put out a call for complete scripts featuring the character of Stingray — a hero-turned-villain from the publisher’s flagship title, Indestructible. All told, Darby Pop Publishing received more than 170 entries in just one month. Jeff Marsick from Fairfield, CT was named the contest’s winner.

Marsick made a bold choice that turns the character’s implied backstory on its head. Marsick came up with something the Darby Pop team hadn’t really considered… but that should work remarkably well within this universe.

Marsick has been trying to break into comics for some time as a regular contributor to Newsarama’s “Best Shot” feature, as the host of several podcasts, and as the writer of two creator-owned series, Z Girl and the 4 Tigers and Dead Man’s Party, all of which Darby Pop was unaware of at the time. ”

To make sure everyone had a fair chance, the scripts were read blind, not even the lengthy introductions were read, so as to not influence opinions of the work.

Marsick’s first work-for-hire script will now go into the editorial and production pipelines, and Marsick will receive a $500 bounty. Readers can expect to see Indestructible: Stingray with cover art by another comics first-timer — Jeff Langevin — in comic book shops and online in May of 2015. And, according to Cozine, chances are good that Darby Pop Publishing will hold a similar competition sometime soon.

The company is going to send everyone who entered a free iTunes code that can be used to download the first issue of Doberman – another Darby Pop title with a definite comedic bent.  Just to say ‘thank you.’

VIZ Media Announces First-Ever Bleach Design Contest With We-Love-Fine

VIZ Media has announced a special first-ever Bleach design contest with WeLoveFine. Artwork submissions will be accepted through midnight on Tuesday April 8th, 2014.

Artistic fans across the U.S. are invited to tap their Bankai and create original and innovative designs that will have a chance to become officially licensed Bleach t-shirts / merchandise. In addition to cash and other valuable premiums, one lucky winner will be awarded a Grand Prize package that includes airfare to Los Angeles, CA and a full show pass to attend Anime Expo 2014, July 3rd-6th, where they will meet the VIZ Media and WeLoveFine teams, and enjoy a fun weekend jam-packed with all things anime/manga.

Cards-on-Dice Design Contest: One Week to Go!

Do you aspire to become a game designer? Heartland Consumer Products, the makers of the fun Square Shooters dice game has opened up a contest to game designers and players to design new rules featuring the dice from Square Shooters. The contest is free to enter and the winner receives a $2,000 cash prize and get published in a whole new product.

Square Shooters launched in 2011 and has sold 250,000 copies to date. The dice features all 52 cards from a standard deck as well as 2 jokers. The creators look at the dice as a game system and are looking for enterprising individuals to have fun and invent new games with them.
