DC Announces Bizarro: Year None with Kevin Smith, Eric Carrasco, and Nick Pitarra

DC has revealed a terrible new comic, Bizarro: Year None, a four-issue limited series exploring the origin of Bizarro, Superman’s legendary backwards doppelgänger. From writers Kevin Smith and Eric Carrascowith art and main cover by Nick PitarraBizarro: Year None delivers the “definitive, indefinitive” origin of DC’s beloved backward bad boy.

The series follows Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen and Clark Kent’s boss Perry White as they depart the Daily Planet for a strange adventure in outer space. Their journey leads them to a dimension that mirrors Metropolis in uncanny ways and reveres its legendary newspaper as an article of faith. As they unravel the mystery of this bizarre world, they confront the being behind it all. Is he a misguided Superman fan, an agent of pure chaos, or is he no one at all?

Smith and Carrasco bring a blend of humor, heart, and high-concept storytelling to a character whose contradictions have made him a fan-favorite for decades. Pitarra’s bold, hyper-detailed artwork grounds the series’ surreal tone, giving readers a version of Bizarro’s world that feels both familiar and unsettling.

Bizarro: Year None #1 goes on sale April 1, 2026, and the series publishes monthly through July, available at participating comic book shops and digital retailers. The debut issue arrives as a 32-page comic priced at $4.99 US, with variant covers by Frank Quitely, Fernando Pasarin, and Ibrahim Moustafa, plus a foil variant by Pitarra. Variant covers will be available for $5.99 US (card stock) and $7.99 US (foil).

SDCC 2024: Oni Press reveals Skin Police from Jordan Thomas and Daniel Gete

IN THE 22nd CENTURY, TRUST NO ONE…NOT EVEN YOURSELF! Oni Press presents Skin Police #1 (of 4) – kicking off a four-issue powder keg of sci-fi/action spectacle from riveting writer Jordan Thomas and violently visceral artist Daniel Gete coming to comic shops everywhere this October!

In the year 2142, fertility levels around the globe plummeted, and a black market for illegal clone babies emerged. Millions of parents used their own genetic material to welcome these new children, only realizing the horrific consequences far too late. At some point in their life cycle, three in four of these genetic duplicates transform into psychologically unstable killing machines known as “dupes.” Fortunately, the United Nations of Europe has decided to take an active role in containing the growing threat. Their specialized task force has taken up the unenviable task of hunting dupes before their violence can spread. To the government, they’re the Duplicate Identification and Capture Division. To everyone else, they’re the “Skin Police.” The worst part of the job? It’s always the one you least suspect . . .

Featuring a barrage of covers from Daniel GeteNick Pitarra, Adam Pollina, and Shaky Kane, no one escapes Skin Police #1 – in comic shops everywhere October 2nd!

90s superheroes are back at Image this May with Joe Casey and Paul Fry’s Blood Squad Seven

Writer Joe Casey and artist Paul Fry team up for a boundary pushing new superhero series in Blood Squad Seven. Spinning out of the recent Dutch miniseries, this upcoming comic book will explore ’90s superteam dynamics through a contemporary lens and launches in May 22nd from Image Comics.

Thirty years ago, Blood Squad Seven was America’s most popular superhero team. Its members were seen on television, on magazine covers, scoring million-dollar endorsement deals…. They were celebrities and they were everywhere.

But that was then… this is now. And so, a new generation of modern-day heroes takes up the mantle—or perhaps, the poisoned chalice—fulfilling a promise made decades ago: to be the heroes that a fractured America needs.

While deconstructions of superhero nostalgia typically center around the classic characters of the Silver Age, Blood Squad Seven will delve deep into ’90s comic book themes with this imagining of what would happen if heroes from that decade returned to action after a 30-year absence.

Variant covers for each issue of Blood Squad Seven will be provided by an army of celebrated artists, including: Chris Weston, Nick Pitarra, Jim Rugg, Chris Cross, Elizabeth Torque, Mike Hawthorne, Cory Walker, Ryan Quackenbush, Mirko Colak, Chris Sprouse, Dustin Nguyen, and many more.

Blood Squad Seven #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, May 22:

  • Cover A by Paul Fry – Lunar Code 0324IM161
  • Cover B by Chris Weston – Lunar Code 0324IM162
  • Cover C (1:10) by Nick Pitarrra – Lunar Code 0324IM163
  • Cover D (1:20) by Jim Rugg – Lunar Code 0324IM164
  • Cover E (1:50) by Fry – Lunar Code 0324IM165

The five-issue comic book series features covers by artists Jae Lee, Nick Pitarra, Chrissie Zullo, Scott Kolins, Matthew Therrien, and Jeff Dickson. Meet orphaned teen Andy, whose parents mysteriously vanished years before he was adopted at the outset of our story. When Andy starts at a new school out in the countryside, he accidentally discovers a haunted suit of armor and its ghostly keeper, Sir William. When Andy is attacked by the same mysterious creature that killed his adoptive parents’ biological son, Sir William and the suit help Andy defeat the monster — but the monster was conjured by someone, and they’ll stop at nothing to gain control of the armor.

Sir William must train Andy to use the armor properly — not just to defeat the other creatures being summoned by the mysterious antagonist, but also to defeat an even more dangerous other-worldly being prophesied to return to Earth and take the suit of armor for its own kind. As he faces off against more and more horrifying monsters, Andy will need to learn to look within himself to find the strength to overcome his own demons in order to save the Earth. But this mystery may be bigger than just Andy and his suit…
