The X-Files Comics Launch This December!

The truth is out there! Dynamite Entertainment and Disney Publishing Worldwide have announced further details on the debut of new comic books from The X-Files, officially launching this December!

Veteran and fan-favorite franchise writer Joe Harris returns alongside artist R.D. Brown to the tales of Mulder and Scully with a new set of declassified cases from the vault. The new comic series picks up some time after the end of the episode “My Struggle IV,” the season and series finale of the eleventh season of the show.

Agents Mulder and Scully return once more to the FBI’s X-Files division in the shadow of the loss of their child William, the presumed death of the Cigarette Smoking Man, and the cliffhanger ending of Scully being pregnant once more. The shadows soon touch our heroes again as the conspiracy of a secret alien presence in the world is tracked down by both the duo and a mysterious organization seeking to harness it for their own purposes.

To complement this mind-tingling tale from Harris and Brown, Dynamite announces the full range of enticing covers for the comic series. Artists Clayton Crain and Ivan Tao‘s styles complement the eerie energy of the franchise. In addition to Harris adding to his nearly 60 issues to date of The X-Files comics, another veteran is back with The Walking Dead superstar Charlie Adlard doing covers, following his breakout work with Sculder and Mully in the 1990s for comics originally published by Topps. A special icon cover presents a classic mixed media image by Miran Kim from that same beloved era. Collectors can also opt for the exciting blind bag, filled with rare variants including an exclusive piece by superstar Martin Morazzo.

The X-Files #1 is available starting December 9.

  • Cover of 'The X-Files' comic book featuring an X-ray image of an alien skull against a dark background.

Exclusive Preview: Hydrogenese by Caza from Metal Hurlant

Humanoids‘ relaunch of the iconic Metal Hurlant has just a few days left on Kickstarter and we have another exclusive, this time a preview of “Hydrogenese” by Caza!

50 years after the debut of Metal Hurlant in France, the iconic and genre defining publication is returning to English, with a bigger and bolder iteration than ever before: as a quarterly anthology published by Humanoids. Each volume of Metal Hurlant will be a massive 272+ page literary experience.

In 1974, filmmaker, writer, mime, and poet Alejandro Jodorowsky was working in Paris on a film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel Dune, with the assistance of the internationally acclaimed artist Mœbius on concept art and storyboards, alongside talents such as H.R. Giger and Dan O’Bannon. At the same time, Mœbius—along with fellow rebellious bande dessinée creators Jean-Pierre Dionnet and Philippe Druillet—wanted to push the boundaries of the  comics medium to tell mature, cerebral, and often titillating stories that embraced a punk attitude. Metal Hurlant was their brainchild, a cutting edge comics anthology published under their newly-founded publishing house Les Humanoïdes Associés (Humanoids).

See what Alejandro Jodorowsky and Hans Zimmer have to say about the return of Metal Hurlant.

The Spirit of Vengeance Returns in The Crow: Curare!

Proof positive that black wings of vengeance never cease their flapping, James O’Barr is back with another taut, dark The Crow series, The Crow: Curare.

When retired cop Joe Salk can’t shake a little girl’s unsolved murder, his life unravels. Alone in the shambles of his former life, his obsessions with justice and revenge his only propellants, the shadowy spirit of vengeance, and the young victim reach out to him. Over three-issues this June, fans will see just how well The Crow’s supernatural heat can thaw a cold case.

Written and lettered by O’Barr, featuring art by Antoine Dodé over O’Barr’s breakdowns, The Crow: Curare is bathed in furious darkness, but maintains The Crow’s signature quest for solace and hope.

Issue one will feature a painted wraparound cover by O’Barr, as well as covers by Dodé, and painter Miran Kim, too.
