Blokees has been dropping sneak peaks of their debuts for Wonder Festival. The company produces model kits for properties such as Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Transformers and more.
The Champion Class line of kits are some of their larger kits and not blind box releases.
New kits revealed are Doctor Doom based on Avengers: Doomsday, Joker from Batman: Hush, General Grievous from Star Wars, and Optimus Prime from Skybound‘s Energon Universe comics.
As darkness falls over Gotham, two solitary paths converge. The destinies of Batman and Catwoman become intertwined. Having been teased in listings, we now have a look at the first two figures from Blokees‘ DC Champion Class Batman: Hush line of figures. Revealed are Batman and Catwoman!
During the “Jim Lee & Friends” panel during New York Comic Con, Jim Lee and Jeph Loeb announced a sequel to their celebrated Batman: Hushseries, to be published within the pages of DC’s ongoing Batman comic book series in 2025, with a Hush 2 prelude to be published in DC’s Justice League Unlimited #1 comic book on November 27. Fans got to see a page from the Hush 2 prelude, plus a page from the first issue of Hush 2, and saw the pencils, inks and colors for the first Hush 2 cover by Lee, Scott Williams, and Alex Sinclair.
For 52 hours fans will be able to order Hush 2 shirts from shop.dc.com.
DC has announced DC GO!, a new frontier of webcomics publishing exclusively on DC Universe Infinite (DCUI). The DC GO! collection of webcomics is designed for mobile devices, and a sneak peek of two new series will be free to read as a DC GO! preview starting today. The DC GO! collection will include a mix of original webcomic content plus vertically reformatted DC and MAD Magazine classics, launching November 20, 2024. DC has announced a new line in their graphic novel slate: DC Compact Comics. Featuring a 5.5″ x 8.5″ standard book trim for trade paperback novels, the new format pulls bestselling, new-reader-friendly titles from DC’s evergreen library as the first books offered in this new lineup of compact editions of adult graphic novels. Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons and All-Star Superman by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, among others, will go on sale beginning in June 2024, retailing at $9.99 US, to launch DC’s new program.
The format is more focused on the manga crowd who are used to this format as well as casual readers like you might find at bookstores, airports, and train stations. The initiative is squarely aimed at expanding the comic market as opposed to catering to the current readership. To watch out for is the second wave of releases and if DC uses the releases to get readers to explore comic shops or DC’s own services like DC Universe.
The new line will showcase DC stories across many genres, including science fiction, thrillers, horror, fantasy, adventure, and mystery. Featured among the DC Compact Comics launch titles in 2024 are DC’s recent Hugo Award-winning sci-fi graphic novel Far Sector by N.K. Today, the World’s Greatest Detective arrived in Burbank, California, in the form of a colossal Batman statue based on the critically acclaimed Batman: Hushcharacter design by world-renowned artist, publisher, and chief creative officer of DC, Jim Lee.
Brought to life by Visit Burbank in partnership with DC, Lee’s celebrated design from his 2002 Batman run was reimagined in 3D form by digital sculptor, Alejandro Pereira Ezcurra, and expertly crafted in bronze by the skilled artisans at Burbank’s American Fine Arts Foundry and Fabrication. The final statue measures seven-and-a-half feet tall and weighs 600 pounds.
Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27 on March 30, 1939, and has stood as a symbol of determination, bravery, and justice to generations of fans for over 80 years. He has influenced every area of modern entertainment, appearing in countless comic books, Saturday morning cartoons, multiple television series, video games, theme parks and experiences, toys, collectibles, and apparel and lifestyle products, as well as blockbuster animated and live-action films. Batman continues to be one of the most popular superheroes ever created—and, now, he is being commemorated in statue form by the City of Burbank.
The newly installed Batman statue can be viewed in the AMC Walkway of Downtown Burbank. Visitors are strongly advised to practice social distancing and wear a face mask.

AfroComicCon has announced artists Chris and Justin Copeland will be among the Special Guests for the virtual convention!
Born and raised on the North Side of Chicago, Chris and Justin Copeland spent a lot of time indoors drawing and imagining worlds outside of poverty and violence. Brought up at a time when graffiti and underground hip hop began to surface as inspiration in every medium, the brothers took to both quickly, as they scanned the rooftop masterpieces on the “L” trains through Chicago.
Film directing was always the goal for the Copelands, but it seemed unattainable given their life situation. However, after watching the 1989 Batman film and receiving a box full of comics (as well as the making of the Batman film book), the duo turned their attention toward drawing and comic books. The comic industry, while very difficult to break into, offered the Copelands the chance to attend comic conventions and meet artists from all over the world and to expand their horizons. It also gave them a medium to hone their drawing and filmmaking skills.
After years of conventions and networking, a few up-and-coming animation industry artists encouraged them to pursue animation as a career, which they took to immediately. Chris was quickly hired at Warner Brothers, and Justin at Marvel Animation. After years of successfully navigating around the industry and learning storytelling, Justin made his directorial debut on Batman: Hushat WB, while at the same time, Chris debuted as a director on Kipo at Dreamworks. SkyBound came calling soon after with an offer to work on Robert Kirkman’sInvincible animated tv show for Amazon.
After a year working with Skybound, Chris and Justin are now at Dreamworks Animation overseeing development of two TV series and a feature animated movie. As brothers and co-collaborators, they look forward to continuing to work together and push the boundaries of storytelling.
AfroComicCon‘s 1st virtual convention will be held on October 24, 2020. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the annual event started in 2017 by the Oakland Technology & Education Center (OTEC), will be held virtually and free through a portal on the organization’s website.
