Mike Pellerito is currently the President and Editor in Chief of Archie Comics. During his tenure at Archie, he has held several varied roles across the company, including expanding Archie’s distribution in the direct, bookstore, newsstand, and digital markets. His most notable achievement is leading the editorial team in a bold revitalization of the Archie universe. The massive project boasted Archie by Mark Waid and Fiona Staples, Betty & Veronica by Adam Hughes, and Jughead by Chip Zdarsky and Erica Henderson, Ryan North, and Derek Charm. Pellerito was also a producer of the live-action movie The Archies from Netflix and instrumental in the deal for the upcoming live-action Archie movie from Universal, written by Tom King with Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directing. Additionally, he is a co-owner of Aw Yeah Comics in Harrison, New York, chosen as “Best Comic Shop” by the prestigious Best of Westchester magazine.

The Army of Darkness Invades Riverdale!

Archie Comics

As part of a new multi-title deal for a slate of blockbuster pop culture collaborations, Dynamite Entertainment and Archie Comics are going straight to Hell with a cataclysmic crossover between two of their biggest franchises: Archie and the Army of Darkness!

Dynamite Entertainment

The idyllic town of Riverdale has faced all manner of unexpected guests and multiversal threats, but never quite like this. In the forthcoming comic book series, Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and the rest of the gang will battle the source of all evil as the Army of Darkness and the Necronomicon lay siege to the Town with Pep. Lucky for them, the one and only Ash Williams, equipped with his trademark wit and boomstick, is along for the ride as they beat back the monstrous hordes . . . or die trying.

The first Archie/Dynamite collaboration was the tongue-in-cheek team-up of some of comicdom’s most influential women in Red Sonja and Vampirella Meet Betty and Veronica. Available now in two trade paperback volumes, the story offers fans a fun link to Amy Chu’s preceding Red Sonja run, gorgeous artwork by Maria Laura Sanapo, a thrilling interdimensional epic, unforgettable interactions between the mismatched icons, and  memorable cover gags. The success of this historic clash of characters set the stage for the new slate, with more details to be announced.

Archie Comics, Universal, and Tom King team for a Live-Action Archie Movie

Archie

In a competitive auction, Universal Pictures is developing a live-action film based on the iconic characters of Archie Comics, one of the comics industry’s longest-running publishers. Tom King will write the screenplay. Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Aditya Sood will produce the project through Lord Miller’s first look deal with Universal, along with Emma Watts, who brought the project to Lord Miller with King, and Archie Comics CEO and Publisher Jon Goldwater.

The news follows a string of highly successful live-action adaptations of Archie characters to screens, including the breakout seven-season CW television series Riverdale, the Netflix streaming series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and the smash-hit film The Archies, also for Netflix and directed by Zoya Akhtar. Archie’s storylines center around a core cast of teens in the small town of Riverdale, anchored by heartfelt interpersonal dynamics, humor, and lighthearted drama. King, known for his fan-favorite emotionally resonant revivals of classic superhero characters like The Omega Men, Adam Strange, and The Vision, explored the Archie dynamic with his signature philosophic insight in the bestselling one-shot comic book Archie: The Decision last year, drawn by longtime Archie mainstay Dan Parent.

Archie has sold over three billion comics throughout its history, published in dozens of languages and read worldwide, most notably in Philippines, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, South America, Australia, UAE, and India; 100 million Archie comics have sold in India alone in the last 50 years. New Archie titles are continuously published monthly and are widely available in comic book stores, newsstand outlets, bookstores, libraries, and on the digital reading platforms comiXology and GlobalComix.

Senior Vice President of Production Development and Special Projects Britt Hennemuth and Director of Production Development Christine Sun will oversee the project for the studio. Lord Miller is represented by UTA and JSSK. Watts is represented by CAA. Archie Comics is represented by CAA. King is represented by UTA.
