Alien: Romulus is getting a Limited-Edition VHS Release

Director Fede Alvarez announced at a special Beyond Fest partnered screening at the Aero Theater in Los Angeles that 20th Century Studios will release the terrifying sci-fi horror thriller, Alien: Romulus, on limited edition VHS December 3. An ultimate movie collector’s dream, the fully functioning VHS tape was created in celebration of the 45th anniversary of the legendary Alien franchise, the box features artwork by renowned artist Matt Ferguson.

The film is now available on digital and will also be released on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on December 3, with exclusive bonus features, including featurettes with filmmakers Fede Alvarez and Ridley Scott, behind the scenes content, and alternate and extended scenes.

This truly terrifying sci-fi horror-thriller takes the phenomenally successful Alien franchise back to its iconic roots. While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young colonizers come face-to-face with the most relentless and deadly life form in the universe. Starring Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu, Alien: Romulus is directed by horror master Fede Alvarez from a screenplay by Alvarez and frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. Ridley Scott — who directed the original Alien and the series entries Prometheus and Alien: Covenant — produces with Michael Pruss and Walter Hill.

Free League Publishing announces the Alien RPG Second Edition

For five glorious years, Free League Publishing and 20th Century Studios have explored the ultimate reaches of the ALIEN universe. In celebration of the critically acclaimed ALIEN RPG’s 5th anniversary in 2024, Free League has announced their plans to unleash a Second Edition of the multiple award-winning game rules across an expansive new line of rulebooks, starter sets, cinematics, and accessories. The stress fest begins with bug hunts aplenty through an epic Kickstarter launching this Fall. 

Free League has revealed their core line-up for the upcoming Kickstarter, with more details coming soon:

Alien: Romulus gets a teaser trailer

Alien heads back to its roots in Alien: Romulus.

While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

The film stars Cailee Spaeny (“Priscilla”), David Jonsson (“Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy”), Archie Renaux (“Shadow and Bone”), Isabela Merced (“The Last of Us”), Spike Fearn (“Aftersun”), Aileen Wu. Fede Alvarez (“Evil Dead,” “Don’t Breathe”) directs from a screenplay he wrote with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues (“Don’t Breathe 2”) based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett.

Alien: Romulus is produced by Ridley Scott (“Napoleon”), who directed the original Alien and produced and directed the series’ entries Prometheu” and Alien: Covenant, Michael Pruss (“Boston Strangler”), and Walter Hill (“Alien”), with Fede Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon (“Charlie’s Angels”), Brent O’Connor (“Bullet Train”), and Tom Moran (“Unstoppable”) serving as executive producers.

Alien: Romulus comes to theaters August 16, 2024.

Marvel launches a 20th Century Studios comic imprint

Marvel has announced that it’s launching the first-ever 20th Century Studios comic book imprint this April! The imprint kicks off April 5 with Planet of the Apes #1. It will then be followed by Marvel’s Alien and Predator comics. Fans will see the imprint beginning in April and going forward starting with Planet of the Apes #1, Alien #1, and Predator #2.

Marvel Comics’ new imprint will draw upon 20th Century Studios’ franchises, including iconic franchises like Planet of the Apes, Predator, Alien, and more. Other interesting 20th Century Studios film franchises along the line of what has already been released includes 28 Days Later, The Abyss, Alien Nation, Die Hard, The Exorcist, The Fly, Max Payne, Minority Report, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Terminator, The X-Files, and so much more.

Marvel began publishing its latest Alien comic book series in 2021 and its latest Predator comic book series in 2022. The upcoming Planet of the Apes #1 is written by David F. Walker with art by Dave Wachter, a main cover by Joshua Cassara, and variants by Mike McKone, Logan Lubera, Yanick Paquette, and Todd Nauck.

Joe Cornish will Write and Direct Mark Millar’s Starlight

Mark Millar‘s Starlight might finally be coming to the big screen. Joe Cornish will write and direct the film for 20th Century Studios.

Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon are producing through Kinberg’s Genre Films banner, and Nira Park has joined as producer.

Starlight is a Flash Gordon riff about an older space hero who returns to Earth after saving the universe. No one believes him and he settles, gets married, and has kids. But, he’s called back for one fantastic adventure.

Starlight was originally published in 2014 by Image Comics and was a six-issue limited series. Written by Millar, it featured art by Goran Parlov.

The Empty Man Comics Return with All-New Movie Edition Softcover Collection

20th Century Studios and BOOM! Studios have announced that The Empty Man, based off the acclaimed graphic novels, will be available to own digitally and on Movies Anywhere beginning January 12, 2021, along with an all-new softcover collection set to arrive in comic stores, bookstores, and online in January 2021.

The Empty Man Movie Edition softcover collection comes from the superstar team of writer Cullen Bunn, artist Vanesa R. Del Rey, colorist Michael Garland, and letterer Ed Dukeshire. As the inspiration for the motion picture, The Empty Man Movie Edition will feature the haunting film poster as its new cover. To celebrate the film’s digital release, BOOM! Studios has made the entire debut issue of The Empty Man Movie Edition available to read for free on its website.

Directed by David Prior, this supernatural horror film centers on shocking events originating in a small Midwestern town. After the mysterious disappearance of a group of teenagers, James Lasombra (James Badge Dale), a troubled retired cop, is thrust into action to investigate. Following leads that may tie a secretive occult-minded group to a terrifying local legend, he soon realizes that his life — and the lives of those close to him — are in terrible danger. The screen story and screenplay is by David Prior.

In the world of The Empty Man comics, it’s been one year since the first reported case of the titular disease, and no drug has been able to slow its progress. The cause is unknown, and the symptoms include fits of rage, hideous hallucinations, and suicidal dementia, followed by death or a near lifeless, “empty” state of catatonia. As cults rise nationwide, the FBI and CDC enter a joint investigation of the Empty Man, racing against the clock to piece together clues to stop the cult and uncover a cure. 

The Empty Man Gets Its First Trailer

The Empty Man is almost here! The first trailer is out for the film coming to theaters October 23.

The Empty Man is a supernatural horror film based on the comic series first published in 2014 from writer Cullen Bunn, artists Vanesa R. Del Rey and Jesús Hervás, colorists Michael Garland and Niko Guardia, letterer Ed Dukeshire, and published by BOOM! Studios.

After a group of teens from a small Midwestern town begin to mysteriously disappear, the locals believe it is the work of an urban legend known as The Empty Man. As a retired cop investigates and struggles to make sense of the stories, he discovers a secretive group and their attempts to summon a horrific, mystical entity, and soon his life—and the lives of those close to him—are in grave danger.

Directed by David Prior from a screen story and screenplay by David Prior the film stars James Badge Dale, Marin Ireland, Stephen Root, Ron Canada, Robert Aramayo, Joel Courtney, and Sasha Frolova. The film is produced by Ross Richie, p.g.a. and Stephen Christy, p.g.a.
