American Mythology and Goodman Games Announce Dungeon Crawl Classics Comics

At Baltimore Comic Con, American Mythology Productions has announced a major new publishing partnership with Goodman Games to create original Dungeon Crawl Classics comic books. Expanding the legendary tabletop RPG universe while staying relentlessly true to its dark fantasy spirit, this bold collaboration bridges the best of vintage gaming grit and high-octane comic storytelling.

Veteran horror and genre scribe James Kuhoric takes the helm to craft visceral tales set in the unpredictable world of DCC. Teaming up with Joseph Goodman, this project promises stories steeped in dark sorcery, lethal stakes, and the wild gonzo energy that defined tabletop roleplaying golden ages.

Dungeon Crawl Classics is a tabletop role-playing game published by Goodman Games and uses the Open Game License. Goodman Games launched the rpg in 2012 but the line began in 2003 as a series of modules for Dungeons & Dragons 3rd edition, and then eventually 4th edition before switching to the DCCC RPG in 2012.

The comics have been built from the ground up alongside Goodman to honor the deadly challenges, patron deities, and distinct aesthetic of the tabletop phenomenon. They’ll featured brand-new quests, sinister dungeons, and unforgettable characters that provide rich reading for comic fans and game masters alike.

Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

Cover art for Marvel comic 'DNX #2: Evolution is Contagious' issue #2, featuring various superheroes and a character contained in a tank.

Wednesdays are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find think below, and what comics you should be looking out for

A Confederacy Of Dunces: A Graphic Novel Adaptation (Archaia/BOOM! Studios) – The book gets a graphic novel adaptation!

Alien Vs. X-Men #1 (Marvel) – Xenomorphs fighting X-Men? Yeah, we’re good with that.

Amazing Spider-Man #1000 (Marvel) – Will this issue bring some big changes setting up what’s to come? Anniversary issues tend to either bring big changes, wrap up major stories, or launch what’s coming.

Amazing Venom #1 (Marvel) – We’ve lost track of all of the symbiotes but a debut and a rather cool costume, we’ll check this out.

DNX #2 (Marvel) – The first issue was pretty solid with Cyclops’ X-Men taking on the Chairman’s 3K… plus the Fantastic Four are thrown into the mix. It’s a year+ of storylines playing out.

Hammerfist #2 (Image Comics) – The first issue was really entertaining with a robbery gone wrong that mixes in some mystical/fantasy aspects that were unexpected but gives the series a unique spin.

Hello Kitty And Friends: Hello World #2 (IDW Publishing) – The first issue was great with a nice balance of a story that can be appreciated by both kids and adults.

Hillbilly: The Treason Of Twelve-Toe Maggie #1 (Dark Horse/Albatross) – A new volume of the series and Eric Powell always puts out a great comic. This will be worth checking out.

Mind MGMT: New And Improved #4 (Oni Press) – The series has been fantastic and done an amazing balance of being great for new readers but also continuing the ongoing story and world.

Vampirella x Witchblade Special #1 (Dynamite Entertainment) – The Dynamite and Top Cow characters team up!

Demo-Graphics: Tabletop Game Edition – August sees more gains as Facebook sees losses

Demo-Graphics has generally focused on the demographics of comic fans but occasionally we have also reported on other fandoms and communities. In August 2025, we kicked off a new regular look at those interested in tabletop games. That includes board games, roleplaying games, and card games. Why? The question still remains… who are the fans of tabletop games?

What is Demo-Graphics?

Each month I dive into data from Facebook looking at the various demographics it can tell us about comic, and now tabletop game, fans. This isn’t hard numbers, purchasers, or “Wednesday warriors,” but best used to show trends in the industry and the potential of the market out there.

How does it work?

We use key terms, “likes”, that users have indicated and have come up with our own set to measure each month. There’s over 50 terms used (and no I won’t release them). We stick to specific terms for the industry such as “board games” and “collectible card games” as well as publishers and leave out broad terms.

Other things to know…

This data is important in that it shows who the potential audience could be. These are not purchasers, these are people who have shown an affinity for tabletop games, are potential purchasers, and those with a clear interest.

Also, with this being online/technology, due to laws and restrictions, those under the age of 13 are underrepresented.

The data that is presented as a wide range. I’ve taken the average of the range. So, if it’s presented as somewhere between 500 and 1,000 people, the number would be 750.

So, let’s kick off the first entry with the big question…

Facebook “Tabletop Gamer” Population: Around 81.2 million in the United States

The Facebook population decreased by about 7 million over the month but the tabletop community saw a third month of gains increasing by 1,350,000.

Gender

Men remained the majority though gained ground to women. Men increased in population and their percent of the population increased from 49.34% to 49.69%. Women increased from 47.28% to 47.35% and those who don’t have gender reported decreased from 3.38% to 2.96%.

Gender breakdown for tabletop games in September 2026

Age

Those under the age of 24 saw a decrease this month while all other age groups saw an increase.

Age breakdown for tabletop games in September 2026

Relationship Status

Reporting of this data is on hold. There is an error in reporting where some segments report less than 1,000 people when it should be more. We’ll keep track of the data and start the reporting again when this technical issue is corrected.

More Stats!

Spanish Speakers: Decreased to 15.55 million (19.15%) from last month’s 15.8 million (19.79%).

Education: This month is up from the previous with 12.8 million, an increase of 250,000.

Parents: 14.25 million, 17.55%, are parents! That’s a increase of 1.1 million individuals from the previous month.

And finally, what’s the crossover with fans of board games and video games?

Comic Book fans: 48.4 million (59.61%)
Video Game fans: 46.95 million (57.82%)
Comic Book and Video Game fans: 29.6 million (36.45%)
Comic Book or Video Game fans: 67 million (83.25%)

Snake Plisskin must Escape From the North Pole this Winter

This December, Mad Cave Studios, in partnership with STUDIOCANAL, present Escape From New York: Escape From the North Pole. From writer and radio host Fred Kennedy, fan-favorite artist Danilo Beyruth, letterer Jeff Eckleberry and covers by Adam Gorham and Ken Lashley; this standalone one-shot is one of the wildest installments yet in the beloved action franchise.

Mother Russia never forgets her children…

Hard-as-nails antihero Snake Plisskin is dragged to Camp Vincent (AKA Ellesmere Island Containment Facility), the northernmost prison in the world, after being caught smuggling contraband across the border. He’s now in the custody of the Canadian Shield, an organization tasked with patrolling the Arctic and wiping out any Soviet factions that remain following the aftermath of WWIII. Snake is an asset, and they intend to use him.

He’s given a choice: track down and rescue Soviet Geneticist Dr. Svetlana Lysenko from a Siberian Bioweapons facility where experiments have mutated into dangerous abominations, or remain on Ellesmere island… Permanently.

Escape From New York: Escape From the North Pole ($6.99, 40pgs) goes on sale December 23, 2026 (FOC November 30).

Demo-Graphics: Comic Fandom Sees an Increase as Facebook Sees a Loss for the Second Month in a Row

Demo-Graphics is back! Demo-Graphics was relaunched in 2025 because the question still remains… who are comic fans?

What is Demo-Graphics?

Each month I dive into data from Facebook looking at the various demographics it can tell us about comic fans. This isn’t hard numbers, purchasers, or “Wednesday warriors,” but best used to show trends in the industry and the potential of the market out there. This has shown the shift towards women being a major force in readers and a shift to the younger demographic.

How does it work?

We use key terms, “likes”, that users have indicated and have come up with our own set to measure each month. There’s over 50 terms used (and no I won’t release them). We stick to specific terms for the industry such as “comics” and “graphic novels” and “one-shots” as well as publishers and leave out broad terms like specific characters or stories. Just because someone likes Batman doesn’t mean they like comics.

Other things to know…

This data is important in that it shows who the potential comic audience could be. These are not purchasers, these are people who have shown an affinity for comics, are potential purchasers, and those with a clear interest.

Also, with this being online/technology, due to laws and restrictions, those under the age of 13 are underrepresented.

Since the last time this feature was run, Facebook has made adjustments as to what it can report so some data is no longer available and we’ve also added in new data that hasn’t been reported before, and it now presents the data as a wide range. I’ve taken the average of the range. So, if it’s presented as somewhere between 500 and 1,000 people, the number would be 750.

So, let’s kick off the latest entry with the big question…

Facebook “Comic Fan” Population: Around 82.85 million in the United States

After three months of decreases, the “comic fan” population on Facebook increased by about 1 million in July. August saw an increase, this time by about 5.2 million. September also saw an increase, this time by 2.35 million. That’s three months of growth and the past two months saw a decrease in Facebook users in the US.

As noted below, there’s some oddities for reporting where numbers that made sense normally suddenly decreased and remained low this month.

Gender

Women increased 1.4 million from the previous month while men increased 900,000. Those unknown increased by about 250,000. Women account for 50.4% of the population, while men are 47.4%. Those who don’t report a gender account for 2.2%, the same as the previous month.

Facebook comic fans gender September 2026

Age

All segments increased from the previous month with little shift when it comes to the percentage of the population.

Relationship Status

Reporting of this data is on hold. There is an error in reporting where some segments report less than 1,000 people when it should be more. We’ll keep track of the data and start the reporting again when this technical issue is corrected.

New Stats!

Spanish Speakers: Last month there were 16.3 million individuals that were “comic fans” and Spanish speakers but this month sees an increase to 16.65 million, the highest amount we’ve reported so far.

Education: This is another stat that’s rather odd. Four months ago, 12 million had at least a college degree, down from the previous month’s 21.8 million. It then increased slightly to 12.1 million and remained there. It increased slightly last month to 12.75 million individuals. It’s now even higher with an increase to 12.95 million.

Parents: After a slide down to 10.65 million in June 2026 from 22.65 million in January, things increased in July to 12.3 million, and 12.75 million in August. September saw a big jump to 14.15 million.

Daughter of a Thousand Faces is a fantastic start to the fantasy series with great art and setting

Shen Yuhua is the disgrace of her clan. She inherited none of her immortal father’s powers, she’s been rejected by more than twenty suitors, and her mother was executed for treason. With no one but her bumbling servant Swallowtail on her side, Yuhua seems destined to live in shame and obscurity.

Her world turns upside down when she encounters Chu Tian, the fearsome Demon with a Thousand Faces—and accidentally frees him from the abyss where her father imprisoned him decades ago. Even worse, she’s forced to become his disciple. Can Yuhua finally develop powers that will make her a warrior worthy of the Shen name, or will her new teacher become her greatest downfall?

Volume 1 collects episodes 1-20 of the Tapas webcomic Daughter of a Thousand Faces.
