Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

The Umbrella Academy: Plan B #1

Wednesdays are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find think below, and what comics you should be looking out for

Absolute Batman #9 (DC Comics) – The series has been amazing with every issue and the Ark M storyline is intriguing and you bet we’re pumped to see what this version of Bane is like.

Blood and Thunder #2 (Skybound/Image Comics) – The first issue was a fun futuristic riff on the cop genre packed with tropes and we want to see if the second issue keeps it up.

Blood Type #1 (Oni Press/EC Comics) – Oni’s relaunch of the EC comic line has been excellent so far with a nice mix of classic EC horror and modern style.

Breadcrumbs: Coming Of Age In Post-Soviet (23rd St.) – A graphic memoir about living in Post-Soviet Poland sounds amazing, educational, and eye-opening for those who haven’t experienced that world.

Death Of The Silver Surfer #1 (Marvel) – We’re dubious on the whole “death” thing but lets face it, the Silver Surfer has featured some classic stories.

New Avengers #1 (Marvel) – The team sounds awesome with just the right mix of screw-ups mixed together. We’re also convinced this will be a key series for whatever happens post “One World Under Doom.”

One World Under Doom #5 (Marvel) – The event has been excellent so far and we want to see if the heroes of the world will team up with Doom to take on an even bigger threat.

Robin And Batman: Jason Todd #1 (DC Comics) – Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen teaming again. Nuff said.

Transformers #21 (Skybound/Image Comics) – The series has been fantastic and this issue teases Optimus vs. Megatron!

Umbrella Academy: Plan B #1 (Dark Horse) – Umbrella Academy is back! Read our early review of the first issue!

The Twilight Zone meets Goosebumps in The Bizarre Bazaar, a new graphic novel series from Daniel Nayeri

In the first installment of his new graphic novel series, multi-award-winning author Daniel Nayeri invites readers into the world of the Bizarre Bazaar, an alluring curiosities shop where two strange and unusual proprietors hawk even more strange and unusual wares—and tell cautionary tales to all who dare to shop there.

In the first twisted tale, The Bizarre Bazaar: Mirror Town, twelve-year-old Abel Azari thinks all of his problems are solved when he falls through a mysterious mirror and finds the world on the other side to have everything he has ever dreamed of: attentive parents, classmates who think he is cool, and the girls of his dreams pining after him. But not everything is as it seems, and unless Abel can uncover this alternate reality’s secrets, and fast, he might be trapped inside a world much darker than he expected… forever!

Brought to life by Liz Enright’s bold and enchanting illustrations, Mirror Town is a deft blend of mystery and thriller, perfect for fans of pulp comics, Goosebumps, and The Twilight Zone.

The Bizarre Bazaar: Mirror Town is on sale July 8, 2025.

Part of what has been interesting about the Diamond Chapter 11 meltdown is the sneak peek behind the curtain of it all.

Now, as part of court filings we now get to see a list of the “executory contracts and unexpired leases” that were assumed and assigned to Universal Distribution in the sale, of which it picked up Alliance Distribution, Diamond’s tabletop game distribution company.

Check out the intriguing list below which includes not just game companies but also leases and more.

The Future Is… #1 has an entertaining story and interesting concept but doesn’t quite nail it

THE HACKER WARS ARE OVER. THE BLACK HATS WON. WHO WILL SAVE US FROM THE WORLD THAT’S COMING? BLACK MOUNTAIN—a rogue band of digital ronin, freebooters, and hackers—fight against a world ruled by data barons, artificial overlords, and technological terrorists. Each operative is paired with a sprite, an AI partner as unpredictable as the human it serves. At the center is WHEELER, a former black hat hacker dragged back into a war he thought he escaped. His team includes: MARTINA DE LEÓN – An Olympic-level infiltrator who operates in the real world. SALLY CHU – A hardware engineer fresh from nine years living in orbit. ELI NILSSON – A system vulnerabilities expert trapped between reality and augmented reality. ART & ARF – A machine intelligence obsessed with human creativity—and the dog it’s bound to. Their mission: stop JASON ROANOKE. A self-proclaimed visionary, Roanoke once controlled the world’s supply chains, private armies, and the lives of those who exist under his authority. He now rules from Tranquility Base, a lunar fortress beyond government reach. Roanoke is the first corporate king of space—and the future itself is his to shape unless Black Mountain stop him. This is THE FUTURE IS , a 60-issue cyber-sci-fi epic fusing the shadow warfare of Mr. Robot, the kinetic action of The Matrix, and the thrilling espionage of Ghost in the Shell.

Daredevil Born Again: Cuomo is Kingpin (& we can defeat him)

Daredevil returns to tangle with Mayor Fisk, a villain with shocking parallels to Andrew Cuomo: the real life disgraced former Governor of NY who is now running to be Mayor of NYC! Our real election ends June 24 and New Yorkers need a better outcome than the election in the Disney+ TV Series.

I’m joined by Janos Martin, a former candidate for Manhattan District Attorney and an expert on criminal justice reform. We discuss how the show depicts the criminal justice system, the political culture of NYC and what lessons we can learn from Kingpin’s appeal to voters that can help us dissuade voters from supporting Cuomo.

I even explain Ranked Choice Voting. Rank ANYONE but Cuomo!

  • A “Maximum DIP Facility Amount” for “all times after the closing of the Sale Transactions is increased from $5.8 million to $8,866,344.
