The Once and Future Queen Switches from Singles to Trade Paperback

In what feels like it’s becoming a trend, Dark Horse has announced that The Once and Future Queen by Adam P. Knave, D.J. Kirkbride, Nick Brokenshire, and Frank Cvetkovic will no longer be released in single issues. The series will instead be collected as a trade paperback to be released in November. The series saw the first two issues released with the last three canceled. They’re not even being released digitally.

The series was well reviewed when it was released but as things go the sales weren’t there. Instead, this change allows Dark Horse and the creators to focus on the book market and its target audience.

Set in Portland, Oregon, and the UK, the story stars Rani Arturus, a chess prodigy with no plans to be a leader of any sort, let alone QUEEN. After she pulls the legendary sword Excalibur from the stone . . . well, no backsies. Now she must form a new Round Table made of friends and family to protect the Earth from an invasion of Fae, who’d like a new planet to call their own. It’s magic, romance, adventure, and excitement as old myths reveal themselves to be fake, and new ones cause trouble for everyone!

The Once and Future Queen is out November 1, 2017.
