Review: Vampblade #2
After transforming into the Vampblade and having her first encounter with the disgusting other-dimensional “space vampires”, Katie Karver winds up in the hospital. But now that she’s connected to the mystical blades there’s no place to hide from the vile otherworldly parasites that are drawn to them. Time to check out and kick ass!
Warning: This book is for mature readers
While the story still mixes adult humor, borderline nudity, and violence, it manages to introduce a few randomly placed movie quotes. Including one from cult sci-fi movie 12 Monkeys, within the first few pages. Of course while there is only a couple issues so far, that I have a feeling will be a constant element in this series. Even though the more the blades appear, I’m curious to know why the “space vampires,” are drawn to them. I hope they explain that as the series progresses.
The 90’s based art style continues, as the transparent space vampires seem to multiply in number. As she wakes from the hospital her family is there, and her mom looks a lot like Katie does. Just a little more mature, and refined. I’m curious to wonder if the mom and brother were drawn first, or after Katie was drawn.
