Review: Star Trek: Discovery – Adventures in the 32nd Century #1

Star Trek: Discovery – Adventures in the 32nd Century #1

With every generation, there is the version of a major franchise that everyone loves. Take for instance, Blade Runner. As I was old enough to remember the original movie when it came out and enjoyed it for the action. As I was pretty young when it came out, many of the high concepts went over my head.

Fast forward to today, and having enjoyed the animated series, I finally got as chance to re-watch the original and sequel by Denis Villaneueve, and it all made sense. The same goes for the new iterations for Star Trek, Dune and Star Wars, as it takes fans to show why you should love each of these franchises. This is why Star Trek: Discovery is more of an acquired taste, one that excels more than it meanders. In the debut issue of the spotlight miniseries, we get Star Trek: Discovery – Adventures in the 32nd Century #1, where we meet Grudge The Cat.

We find Grudge, as they survey the stars, but quickly remembers that they are hungry as soon as Cleveland Booker, reminds them of such, whereby enjoying some quality time with her master. As we find out how long they have been together and the moment both their lives changed, when Michael Burnham entered their lives. This gave Grudge more challenges than they expected, even leading an usurper disguising themselves as Cleveland, which they trapped the imposter. By issue’s end, Grudge resumes their mantle, asleep in her bed.

Overall, Star Trek: Discovery – Adventures in the 32nd Century #1 is a lighthearted tryst in the Star Trek Universe. The story by Johnson and Beyer is entertaining. The art by the creative team is gorgeous. Altogether, a fun back story on one of the series most loved characters.

From Democratic Georgia Gubernatorial Candidate to United Earth President. Stacey Abrams’ Cameo on Star Trek: Discovery

Star Trek: Discovery Stacey Abrams

Stacey Abrams has talked extensively about her love of Star Trek and got to make a cameo in the Star Trek: Discovery season 4 finale as the president of the United Earth.

The former state lawmaker has held fundraisers with cast members of Star Trek to help candidates such as Senators Jon Ossoff (D) and Raphael Warnock (D). She also was part of the “Trek the vote to victory” event to help support then president nominee Joe Biden.

Abrams is known as a voting rights activist who is credited with helping boost the voter turnout in Georgia. She founded Fair Fight Action, an organization focused on addressing voter suppression. She’s also a prolific author with over a dozen books written.

In an interview with Deadline, Abrams said she was excited for the chance to say “Nothing to discuss” as the United Earth was ready to rejoin the Federation in the episode.

Abrams is currently running again for the position of Governor of Georgia where she’ll face either the current incumbent Governor Brian Kemp or former Senator David Perdue who are currently fighting for the GOP nomination.

IDW’s Star Trek: Discovery Comic Spotlights a Crew Marooned in the Distant Future

IDW Publishing has announced that The United Federation of Planet’s far-flung future will be further explored in a new four-issue miniseries, Star Trek: Discovery – Adventures in the 32nd Century, based on the wildly popular series streaming on Paramount Plus.

The new series reunites co-writers Kirsten Beyer and Mike Johnson, whose previous collaboration on Star Trek: Discovery comics included The Light of Kahless, Succession, and Aftermath. The authors are joined by artist Angel Hernandez, celebrated by fans for his work on Star Trek / Green Lantern: The Spectrum War and, most recently, Star Trek: Manifest Destiny.

Each issue of Adventures in the 32nd Century will spotlight a different cast member, and the first issue’s focus promises a unique perspective from the Star Trek franchise as it reveals the secret history of the queen herself: Grudge the Cat! A flashback tale of her first meeting with Cleveland “Book” Booker sets the stage for a trajectory establishing Grudge as the greatest feline spacefarer of all. Subsequent issues will focus on ensign Adira Tal, Lieutenant Keyla Detmer, and science officer Linus.

Star Trek: Discovery – Adventures in the 32nd Century will be available with two cover variants for retailers and fans to enjoy, including Cover A by interior artist Angel Hernandez and a Retailer Incentive edition by Aaron Harvey.
