Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Teams Up With NASCAR

As the world braces for the most iconic Super Heroes of all time to square off in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (in theaters March 25), legendary NASCAR drivers Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. have chosen sides and are preparing to go toe-to-toe in an epic race for the record books! Johnson’s No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet and Earnhardt’s No. 88 Nationwide Chevy are now branded with logos representing their favorite hero, Superman and Batman, respectively, and will face off at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA on March 20.

On the Warner Bros. lot, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill visited with NASCAR’s Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. to get an in-depth look at the vehicles.

Ben Affleck Confirms Senator Leahy will be in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Actor Ben Affleck, who will be donning the cape and cowl as Batman in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, confirmed at a Senate hearing that Senator Patrick Leahy will indeed be in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Affleck is a co-founder of the Eastern Cong Initiative and was testifying before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Diplomacy and National Security about the situation in the Congo (alongside Bill Gates) where he said:

To Senator Leahy, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge my co-star in Batman. The role is marginally smaller than mine but I understand you’re quite good.

Senator Leahy is a diehard Batman fan, and has appeared in numerous films and voiced characters which led some to speculate if he’d be in the latest film to feature the Dark Knight. Leahy is also a vocal proponent for Hollywood (especially when it comes to intellectual property), often fighting their battles for them in the Hill, which calls into question his numerous appearances.

When Deadshot met Batman in Jersey Girl

It was announced today that Will Smith will play Deadshot in 2016’s Suicide Squad. Will Smith had a brush-in with another DC alum, Ben Affleck, in a previous film. Affleck who will don the cape and cowl as Batman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In what movie did this happen?

That’d be comic geek Kevin Smith’s Jersey Girl who was at one point attached to write a script for a Superman film, a character Affleck played (as actor George Reeves) in Hollywoodland where he “slept” with Diane Lane who played Superman’s mom in Man of Steel…. Phew….

Man of Steel Sequel has a title, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

We’ve been referring to it as Batman vs. Superman for almost a year now, but the sequel to Man of Steel, officially has a title, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film will not only feature Batman and Superman, but also Wonder Woman, and many more rumored individuals.

Filming is underway on the film which is being directed by Zack Snyder and stars Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, and Ben Affleck as BruceWayne/Batman. Also appearing are Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from Man of Steel, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter in a role newly created for the film.

The movie will open worldwide on May 6, 2016.

Batman vs. Superman Casts Its Wonder Woman

DC Comics has announced their Wonder Woman has been cast! After months of rumors, it has been confirmed (including casting) that Wonder Woman/Diana Prince will make her big screen debut in Zack Snyder’s upcoming and as yet untitled Superman and Batman film. She had been mentioned on some short lists, but Israeli actress Gal Gadot has been confirmed for the role. You might know her from the Fast & Furious movies. She’ll be joining Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent and Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Zack Snyder said in a release:

Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.

The film also reunites Man of Steel’s Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

The film begins principal photography early next year and opens in theaters on July 17, 2015.
