Y: The Last Man: Unmanned collects the first ten issues in a DC Compact Comics edition

The story of the last man on Earth and his quest to find love, hope, and answers in a world turned upside down.

In a single moment, the world’s men are wiped out by a mysterious plague, leaving only women behind—except for one. Yorick Brown, an unassuming escape artist, and his pet monkey Ampersand become the focus of humanity’s hopes and fears as they embark on a perilous journey to uncover why they’ve survived.

Yorick’s quest to find his girlfriend and discover the truth of the plague leads him into a radically transformed world full of political intrigue, desperate alliances, and terrifying dangers. Can Yorick navigate this new society while holding on to his humanity, or will the weight of being the last man standing crush him?

Y: The Last Man’s First Trailer is Here!

We’ve gotten teases and now we have our first look at Y: The Last Man. The show is based on the acclaimed comic series published by DC ComicsVertigo imprint and created by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra. The comic was published from 2002 to 2008 and ran for 60 issues.

The story involves an apocalyptical even where all living mammals with a Y chromosome simultaneously die. There’s two exceptions, Yorick Brown and a capuchin monkey named Ampersand. Yorick wants to find his fiancée while others want to figure out why Yorick died or capture the last man alive.

Y: The Last Man begins streaming exclusively on Hulu on September 13.

Y: The Last Man Debuts in September

FX Networks revealed the debut dates for numerous series including Y: The Last Man. The series is based on the acclaimed DC Comics series that follows on man and his pet monkey after a cataclysmic event that decimates every mammal with a Y chromosome.

The series will debut exclusively on FX on Hulu on September 13.

The comic series debuted in 2002 running in 2008 for 60 issues. The series was written by Brian K. Vaughan with art by Pia Guerrera, Goran Sudzuka, and Paul Chadwick, with ink by Jose Marzan, Jr.

AfroComicCon has announced Producer/ Writer Aïda Croal will be among the Special Guests for the virtual convention!

Canadian-born playwright and screenwriter, Aïda Mashaka Croal, received her BA from Stanford University and her MFA from Columbia University’s School of the Arts. She won a Daytime Emmy while writing on her first TV show: ABC’s One Life to Live. She has since written for Syfy (Sanctuary), Cartoon Network (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), AMC (TURN: Washington’s Spies), Netflix (Marvel’s Luke Cage; season 2 of Marvel’s Jessica Jones). 

In addition, she has won a Saturn Award and been nominated for a Peabody Award for her work on Marvel’s Luke Cage. She was an EP and co-showrunner for FX Networks pilot, Y, based on Brian K. Vaughn’s award-winning comic book series, Y: The Last Man. Aïda is currently creating a one-hour drama series for HBO.


AfroComicCon​‘s 1st virtual convention will be held on October 24, 2020. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the annual event started in 2017 by the ​Oakland Technology & Education Center (OTEC), ​will be held virtually and free through a portal on the organization’s website. Sponsored by the NNPA, the ​Oakland A’s, and Pixar Entertainment, AfroComicCon promises to be a day full of exciting panels, screenings, entertainment, gaming, cosplay and special guests. The 12-hour event is currently slated to be live-streamed across multiple platforms including YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook. You can register now.
