Rick and Morty’s Maniacal Manga Comic Book Manifestation Returns in Rick and Morty: The Manga Vol. 2: After-School Science Club

WILL MORTY’S MANGA-INSPIRED MACHINATIONS LEAD TO ROMANCE OR MAKE TROUBLE FOR THE MULTIVERSE? In their first manga comic book appearance, Rick and Morty went toe to toe with a giant naked Jerry. Now, they’re ready for an even greater challenge: high school romance and after-school activities! Oni Press in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, is proud to share a madness-inducing first look at Rick and Morty: The Manga Vol. 2: After-School Science Club! From two of the hottest creators in the American manga scene, writer Josh Tierney and artist JeyOdin comes a story of teen love, school pride, and extracurricular international warfare!

When Morty falls in love at first sight with the new exchange student from Japan—Chigusa—and she shows him her favorite manga about after-school clubs, he knows just the advisor for his hastily constructed new Science Club: Rick Sanchez. With his ragtag group of teen losers (plus Chigusa) and a cursory knowledge of Japanese school clubs he picked up from skimming Morty’s manga, Rick leads the club in a competition against the preexisting, sanctioned, totally normal Science Club, creating a portal to Akihabara, nexus of anime and manga culture, and famous home of Tokyo’s maid cafés. Brimming with inspiration from their trip (and chased out of the country by the maids who have turned on Rick) the Science Club prepares for their school festival with a maid café of their own making—a science maid café selling questionable concoctions.

Rick and Morty: The Manga Vol. 2: After-School Science Club is due out on February 24.

Dynamite reveals the ThunderCats X SilverHawks Crossover!

Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have unveiled the key creative and story details for the kickoff of the 15-part interconnected epic comics story ThunderCats X SilverHawksNow, with so many superstars involved, the full slate of variant covers across all three involved titles is revealed!

Ed Brisson and Declan Shalvey are writing this historic crossover. Fans who have been longtime fans of his, and even those continuing here from his preceding prolific run on the flagship ThunderCats series know Declan is also an artistic powerhouse. His three covers across ThunderCats X SilverHawks #1Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living #1, and ThunderCats X SilverHawks: ThunderHawks were shown in the initial announcement for this event. One additional way his art is being showcased is a sweet incentive cover featuring his layouts for his story. This is a novel collectible for fans of the behind the scenes process of comics creation, and an exclusive look at this side of storytelling.

On other covers, Shalvey is joined by familiar favorites from the ongoing ThunderCats and SilverHawks comics era, as well as shining stars making their first contributions to the comic book franchise.

ThunderCats X SilverHawks #1 also features covers by Lucio Parrillo, Eric Canete, and Ben Oliver.

To portray the powerful archnemesis for Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living #1, artists Rapha Lobosco, Danny Earls, John Amor, and Erica D’Urso join the ‘Cats crew.

Meanwhile to add to the fun of perhaps the most enigmatic of the three titles, Vincenzo Federici, Ivan Tao, Marco Failla, and Alessandro Ranaldi craft covers for ThunderCats X SilverHawks: ThunderHawks #1.

In addition to all these juggernauts of comics, each issue also offers a fun animation cover, capturing the nostalgic memory of the original beloved show. Mumm-Ra #1 also adds an illustrated piece from the Warner Bros. Discovery vault.

The iconic voice of Lion-O himself, Larry Kenney, will also be signing ultra-limited covers available on each series.

Mystery blind bag offerings are also available on the titles, which are set to include additional surprise variants!

ThunderCats and SilverHawks Unite for the First Time in April 2026

The story everyone has been waiting for is finally here! Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have announced a historic comics crossover event 40 years in the making. ThunderCats X SilverHawks kicks off this April with a trio of interconnected comic book titles telling a thrilling 15-part epic story from top creators as the pinnacle of over two years of revitalized storytelling. Civilizations collide in the crossover of the millennium, as writers Declan Shalvey and Ed Brisson pick up the pieces and ramp up threads from nearly 60 issues of new tales across the ThunderCats and SilverHawks mythos, cresting to a can’t-miss climactic crossover for dedicated diehards, and an approachable starting-point thrill ride for those intrigued by this blockbuster.

Critically acclaimed author and illustrator Declan Shalvey kicked off this whole era with the records-setting ThunderCats #1, and here he continues his signature contributions to the saga by not only writing, but also drawing the first issue of the flagship series starting in ThunderCats X SilverHawks #1. This follows the conclusion of the milestone ThunderCats #25 and the setup special ThunderCats X SilverHawks: Road to War. Extra-sized with 30 story pages, the kickoff chapter starts it all with a bang.

Panthro of the ThunderCats’ mission to launch a new satellite high above his adoptive home of Third Earth resulted in an unexpected turn of events that will change the destiny of two entire galaxies. Alerted to an anomaly at a long-dormant base in a quarantined sector, The Copper Kid, Quicksilver, and Chromium of the SilverHawks set out to investigate. As soon as they land on the forbidden planet, they’re confronted by a fearsome band of strange, cat-like warriors — and quickly find themselves in a fight for their lives!

The second series and part two starts with ThunderCats X SilverHawks: Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living #1. Shalvey also scripts this look at the archnemesis of the entire franchise, alongside artist Rapha Lobosco. Mumm-Ra has been a sinister enigma to the ‘Cats ever since they first set their paws on Third Earth, and now the full ancient and tortured history of the infamous devil-priest will be revealed! While interweaving with the ever-evolving 15-part epic, this series dually functions as an essential origin for fans.

Following his fan-favorite chronicles of the SilverHawks, the ThunderCats Lost team, and a string of scintillating specials, writer Ed Brisson writes the third title involved in the crossover, joined by artist Vincenzo Federici. ThunderCats X SilverHawks: ThunderHawks #1 follows events from ThunderCats: Lost in Time and the Road to War special, starting with the Lost team trapped in the far future desperately trying to get back home and prevent the cataclysmic war that could end all of ‘Cat-kind. They’ll find themselves donning SilverHawks bionic suits and fighting in this unknown, hostile space and time.

Each month from April through August 2026 will feature a new chapter from all three titles, continuing to build and complement each other to form the ultimate ThunderCats and SilverHawks legend and celebration of these fabled franchises.

Last but certainly not least, fans can opt for a top-of-the-line leatherbound presentation. Featuring the ThunderCats logo emblazoned upon the cover. Only 1,985 copies are being produced of this most ultimate version, in tribute to the debut year of the franchise.

Discovery Global Consumer Products! Alongside Declan Shalvey who kicked it all off with writing the continuing flagship ‘Cats title, writer Ed Brisson has contributed so much to this new era of stories for ThunderCats fans in comic books. Across his dual titles of ThunderCats Lost and SilverHawks, as well as a string of specials including Apex, Pumyra, Panthro, and the upcoming Ho!(liday) Special, he’s been continuing to expand out the mythos and building up the foundation for ever-greater heights. NYCC 2025: Thundarr the Barbarian Slashes Into Comics With Jason Aaron!

In the coming year Dynamite Entertainment, Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, and Jason Aaron present the sword and sorcery comics event of a lifetime, as the legendary Thundarr the Barbarian slashes into comic books! Thundarr the Barbarian ran for two thrilling seasons in the early 1980s, bursting wide the creative minds of a whole generation who watched it. The novel premise takes fantasy staples of barbarians, wizards, and monstrous beings and sets them in a post-apocalyptic vision of our world nearly 2,000 years in the future.

Writer Jason Aaron is coming up on a quarter century in comics, with forays on nearly every top character or franchise, wide-ranging genres, and hit independent creations. All-told his works have garnered countless awards nominations and wins, and proved definitive in many cases. He’s no stranger to swords and sandals, leading the charge in the revival of another barbarian comics icon in years past. Now he’s ready to bring the world of Thundarr to the page and the hands of readers.

Aaron is joined in this effort by artist Kewber Baal, teed up for his biggest breakout yet. The Vampirella, James Bond, and Jennifer Blood illustrator is ready to sling ink in bringing Aaron’s scripts to the page, alongside Thundarr’s signature Sunsword with his trademark portrayals of action.

The series features Thundarr and his trusty companions Princess Ariel and Ookla the Mok fighting to save the world’s last surviving humans from enslavement by mutants and wizards. But when Thundarr’s greatest foes, like Gemini and Mindok the Mind Menace, team-up to devise the ultimate revenge, the heroes must battle to save the future itself, an adventure that takes us all the way back to that fateful day in 1994 when a runaway planet came hurtling between the Earth and the Moon, unleashing cosmic destruction. And for the first time ever, we’ll also learn the origin of Thundarr, including his first meetings with Ariel, Ookla, and the first time he ever wielded his mighty and mysterious Sunsword.

To add to this monumental comics event, editor Joe Rybandt has called in top names for stunning series covers. Initial names include Rob Liefeld, Dan Panosian, Francesco Mattina, Michael Cho, Joseph Michael Linsner, Björn Barends, and more.

Shockingly in an era where it was common, Thundarr never once featured in its own comic book stories — a fact that stands out even more with its deep pedigree connections to the medium. The King of Comics himself Jack Kirby worked on the production design for the show, establishing its memorable look. He was complemented by Hanna-Barbera/Ruby-Spears icon and “artist’s favorite artist” Alex Toth, who designed key characters. The principal original creator of the show was the enigmatic writer Steve Gerber, known for his satirical and boundary-breaking work in comics like Howard the Duck, Man-Thing, Omega the Unknown, and more. Other comics mainstays like Martin Pasko, Mark Evanier, and Roy Thomas also played key roles in Thundarr’s original tales. And now these connections come full circle, courtesy of one of the biggest names in comics today!

Teased initially at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, this year’s New York Comic Con brings major updates on Thundarr’s comics debut this January!
