Spider-Man: Brand New Day Continues to Hold the Top Spot at the Weekend Box Office

Five weeks in a row, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been the top grossing film at the domestic box office. The movie added an estimated $22.5 million to its domestic total to bring that to $884.8 million after five weeks. Internationally, it added $76 million to its total over the week and that gross is now $1.441 billion. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $2.333 billion. The movie is the top grossing film of the year domestically and worldwide and currently ranks second domestically all time and fourth worldwide all time. It’ll easily move into third place (likely today) for the worldwide record. While it’s unlikely the movie will be the top grossing film worldwide when its run is over, there’s still a chance it becomes the first film ever to gross $1 billion domestically before its run is over.

Coyote vs. Acme second in third place with $15.9 million over the weekend for a bit mix of a debut. The film has had an interesting history, originally shelved by Warner Bros. for a tax write off. Ketchup Entertainment picked it up for a reported $50 million. Now, here’s the mixed part. It’s the best opening for a Ketchup Entertainment film, that’s good. It’s also a massive improvement on 2024’s Looney Tunes’ The Day the Earth Blew Up which opened with $3.2 million domestically and grossed $15.5 million its entire run. It was also a Ketchup film. But, films need to make money, so using the formula of 2x budget to figure out profitability, and with the reported $10 million marketing spent on top of what was paid to Warner Bros., Coyote vs. Acme is far short of achieving that. Warner Bros. had a $70 million budget for the film and got a $30 million tax write-off. So, as it’s looking the decision to shelve the film might have been the right decision no matter how well it’s been received (and it is getting praised by critics and average attendees). As is, it’s hard to see Ketchup making back their investment in the theater, let alone making a profit. While we hate to see quality films get shelved, movies are a business and it looks like they knew what they were doing.

The Odyssey remained in third place. It added $14.4 million to its domestic total which is now $563.8 million. Over the week, it grossed $81. 6 million internationally and that total stands at $988.8 million. The movie is likely to cross the billion dollar mark internationally at some point this week.

The Dog Stars opened in fourth place with $8 million domestically and $11.3 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $19.3 million. With a budget somewhere between $70 and $110 million, it’s hard to not see this as another flop for Walt Disney this year.

Rounding out the top five was Insidious: Out of the Further which debuted in second place the previous weekend. The movie grossed $7.3 million to bring its domestic total to $40.8 million. Internationally, it grossed $31.6 million over the week and now has grossed $66.6 million for $110.2 million worldwide. With a reported budget of $18 million, it’s another successfully release for the franchise which will sure to see more releases.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity has grossed $4.3 million domestically. Internationally, the movie has grossed $763,798 which makes a little over $5 million worldwide.

Numbers have 36 movies grossing $84,593,481 from 37,225 theaters for an average of $2,272.49. That is compared to last week’s 66 movies grossing $131,763,813 from 38,157 theaters for an average of $3,453.20.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Holds on to First at the Weekend Box Office

It’s been four weeks in a row of Spider-Man: Brand New Day being at the top of the box office. The movie added $39 million to its domestic total which is now $854.9 million. It also grossed $129 million over the week internationally which is now $1.365 billion. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $2.220 billion.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the top grossing film domestically in 2026 by about $320 million so far. Worldwide, the movie is the top grossing of the year by about $770 million. The movie is currently the third highest grossing film domestically of all time and will easily move into second place. The industry is watching to see if it’ll be the first to cross $1 billion domestically. The movie is also sixth worldwide of all time and will likely move up to third or fourth by the end of next weekend.

Insidious: Out of the Further debuted in second place with $25.3 million domestically and $35 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $60.3 million. The opening is a bit mixed. Insidious: The Red Door opened in 2023 with $33 million domestically and Insidious: The Last Key opened in 2018 with $29.6 million. Out of the six released movies going back to 2010, this movie’s opening ranks fourth. But, the budgets on these films are really low, with this one being a reported $18 million. So, anything over $36 to $40 million (based on the usually formula of 2x budget) and the movie is in the profit zone, which this debut weekend puts it.

The Odyssey slipped to third place with $19.5 million and has now grossed $539.1 million domestically. Internationally, it grossed $120.9 million over the week and has now grossed $907.1 million. The movie will likely cross the billion dollar mark internationally before its run is over. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.446 billion.

PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie remained in fourth place with $9.1 million domestically bringing up its domestic gross to $35.4 million. Internationally, it grossed $19.5 million to bring that to $68 million. The movie has grossed $103.4 million.

The End of Oak Street dropped to fifth place after debuting in third. It grossed $9 million domestically and its total is just under $38 million. Internationally, the movie grossed $22 million which is now $48 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed just under $86 million.

It’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s world and we’re just living in it. The movie is a juggernaut, taking first place again for the third week in a row. The movie added $48.3 million domestically to its total which is now $785,831,670. Internationally, it grossed $226 million over the week to bring that gross to $1.236 billion. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $2.022 billion, the second fastest to cross the $2 billion mark.

The movie is rank fourth in all-time domestic gross, behind Spider-Man: No Way Home, Avengers: Endgame, and Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Worldwide, the movie ranks eighth and will likely move up to sixth after this week, possibly fifth or higher. It’s currently the top movie of the year domestically and worldwide by a large gap between it and second place. The bigger question is, will it be the first film to cross $1 billion domestically?

The Odyssey held on to second place with $23.2 million domestically. It has now grossed $504.7 million there. Internationally, the movie added $142.6 million over the week and has now grossed $786.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.291 billion so far.

While the top two films have held steady for a few weeks, this week had a lot of debuts. Third place through seventh all were new films coming to theaters.

In third was The End of Oak Street which debuted with $21 million domestically and $26 million internationally for a worldwide total of $47 million.

PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie debuted in fourth place with $20.5 million domestically and $48,500,000 internationally for a worldwide debut of $69 million. ACAB.

Katseye: Wild Hearts rounded out the top five with just under $4 million domestically and no international gross reported.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the movie of the year right now having taken the top spot at the weekend box office and being the second fastest movie to reach $1 billion ever. The movie dropped 59.7% and still grossed $145 million over the weekend to bring its domestic total to $655.1 million. Internationally, the movie added $438 million over the week and it has grossed $1.010 billion total. In two weeks, the movie has grossed $1.665 billion.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has the third highest second weekend box office of all time, it has the all-time record for the highest 10-day domestic gross, and it’s the second fastest movie to reach $1 billion.

No movie has ever broken a billion dollars domestically. Star Wars: The Force Awakens came the closest with $936.7 million in 2015. Will this be the first? It’s currently the 10th highest grossing domestically, and 12th worldwide of all time. It’s the top grossing film worldwide in 2026 by over $500 million, and the top grossing domestic film of 2026 by $180 million… and that’s just after two weeks!

In second place was The Odyssey which held on to the spot. It grossed $31.5 million domestically to bring that gross to $461.2 million. Internationally, it grossed $127.7 million to bring that gross to $643.6 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.105 billion, that makes two films to have crossed the billion dollar mark this week.

One Night Only debuted in third place with $5.7 million domestically. There was no international gross reported.

Super Troopers 3 debuted in fourth place with $4 million. There was no international gross reported.

Toy Story 5 slipped to fifth place with $3.9 million. Domestically, the movie has grossed $470.4 million. Internationally, it grossed $19.4 million to lift that total to $623.6 million. Worldwide, the movies has grossed $1.094 billion.

Do you hear that? That’s the sound of keyboard prognosticators figuring out how to justify saying there isn’t “superhero fatigue” at the box office after beating the drums about it for months. Spider-Man: Brand New Day delivered the second best worldwide opening ever and it’s already the fourth highest grossing film worldwide of 2026 after 1 weekend.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day grossed $360.1 million domestically and $572 million at the international box office for a worldwide total of $932.1 million.

That’s the second highest domestic opening weekend behind Avengers: Endgame which opened with $357.1 million in 2019. Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s opening weekend might be adjusted still and could put it closer to breaking the record. It also delivered the second highest global debut again behind Avengers: Endgame’s $1.22 billion.

The Odyssey slipped to second place, after being in first for its first two, with $51 million domestically to bring its domestic gross up to $395.5 million. Over the week, it grossed $162.6 million at the international box office which now stands at $515.9 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $911.4 million in three weeks.

Toy Story 5 improved one spot moving up to third with $6.3 million domestically. It has grossed $461.7 million since its debut. Internationally, the movie added $30.7 million over the week and that total is now $604.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.066 billion and is the top grossing film of the year but that will likely end this week.

Minions & Monsters also improved one spot coming in fourth with $5.8 million. Domestically the movie has grossed $168.4 million. Internationally, the movie has grossed $24.7 million over the week and that total gross is $281.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has done $449.6 million.

Moana dropped from second place to fifth grossing $5.3 million, a 50.2% drop from the previous week. It has grossed $114.8 million at the domestic box office. Internationally, it grossed $20.6 million over the week and that total is $146.3 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $261.1 million. It’s hard to call the film anything but a flop for Disney.

The Odyssey is bringing people into theaters and grossed an estimated $87 million in its second weekend, a 29.6% drop from its debut weekend. Often you see blockbusters have a massive drop in the second week, 50% or more, so a drop of less than 30% is pretty solid. Internationally, it grossed $213.7 million over the week to bring its international total to $353.3 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $639.6 million after just two weeks making it the seventh highest grossed film worldwide this year so far and it’ll easily move into the top five when the week is over.

Moana held on to second place with $10.5 million domestically bring its domestic gross to $102.5 million after three weeks. Over the week, it grossed $29.3 million internationally to bring that to $125.7 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $228.2 million.

Toy Story 5 is one of the big films of the year and came in third, adding $10 million to its domestic total which is $448.6 million. Internationally, it grossed $46 million over the week to bring that total to $573.5 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.022 billion.

In fourth place was Hadestown: The Musical which grossed $9.7 million domestically with no international gross reported.

Rounding out the top give was Minions & Monsters with $9.6 million domestically which lifts its total to $155.4 million. Internationally, it grossed $36.2 million over the week to bring that total to $256.5 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $411.9 million.

The Odyssey Dominates the Weekend Box Office

Everything old is new again as The Odyssey topped the weekend box office with an impressive $124.5 million domestically. Internationally, the movie grossed $139.6 million giving it $264.1 million worldwide in its first weekend. The film’s success is another win for Christopher Nolan and the film is driving viewers into premium screenings showing that if you create “event viewing,” audiences will show up. It’s going so well that IMAX is extending its screenings for another week. It is reported that half of the moviegoers were aged 18 to 34, showing the film has found success across ages and generations.

In second place was Moana, which is hard to call anything but a flop. The movie added $19 million domestically, a 56% drop from the previous week bringing that total to just $82.1 million. Internationally, it grossed $44.4 million over the week to bring that total to $96.4 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $178.5 million. With a reported production budget of $250 million, it’s hard to see it making a profit unless it’s tie-ins bring it across the goal line.

Minions & Monsters slipped to third place with a possible tie with Toy Story 5. Minions & Monsters and Toy Story 5 both grossed an estimated $14.8 million, so we’ll see what the end numbers wind up being.

Minions & Monsters domestically has now grossed $137.6 million. Over the week, it grossed $48.5 million internationally which is now $220.3 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $357.9 million.

Toy Story 5 has grossed $430.9 million domestically and over the week it added $52.2 million internationally which is now $527.5 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $958.4 million and sure to cross the billion dollar mark before its run is over.

Evil Dead Burn rounded out the top five with $5 million domestically to bring its total to $24.2 million. It’s international total is $27.2 million for a worldwide total of $51.4 million.

Supergirl came in ninth place. It grossed an estimated $1.5 domestically which is now a little under $70 million. Internationally, the movie grossed $1.5 million over a week to bring that up to $50.9 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $120.6 million after two weeks.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu grossed an estimated $120,000 over the weekend to bring its domestic gross to $177.5 million. Internationally, the movie remained at $163.1 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $340.6 million after five weeks. The film will wind up slightly short of Solo: A Star Wars Story was when it ended its run.
