SDCC 2026: Ignition Press Celebrates its First Year with Seven new Series

Ignition Press

Ignition Press is kicking off its first anniversary of publishing creator-driven comics this week leading up to and culminating at the biggest industry event of the year, Comic-Con International 2026 in San Diego (SDCC).

Ignition Press began publishing original series in July 2025 with its public debut at SDCC. At the Ignition Press Room—a standalone, open to the public, and free pop-up—the publisher introduced fans to seven debut series: Murder Podcast, Voyeur, Deluge, Roots of Madness, The Beauty, NO Place, and Arcadia.

On the eve of its one-year anniversary, Ignition Press has revealed a revised summer release schedule with seven new series launching over seven weeks beginning July 1st through August 12th. Additionally, Ignition Press will celebrate all its previously released or continuing series with new promotions and activations. The anniversary celebration will crescendo at SDCC 2026, where exclusives for all seven new series will be available for purchase before the celebration continues in comic shops through mid-August. Ignition Press will reveal additional details about its SDCC plans as part of its returning Ignition Sequence: SDCC 2026 marketing initiative.

The seven launching series commemorating Ignition Press’s first anniversary are:

  • The Dogsitter #1—a brand new rom-com treat for dog lovers from the Ares & Aphrodite team of Jamie S. Rich and Megan Levens with Nick Filardi and AndWorld Design;
  • Dispatched #1—an express delivery of an action thriller from B. Clay Moore and Daniel Gete with Lee Loughridge and AndWorld Design;
  • Minotaur #1—a groundbreaking sci-fi ongoing series for the AI Age by Si Spurrier and Mike Dowling with Sofie Dodgson and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou;

The Beauty #4 gets the stories really moving but still feels a bit disconnected

In order to fulfill her mission and uncover secrets for her mysterious client, Nox is forced to contract the Beauty to access an exclusive island and reach her affluent target. When she arrives, she discovers the task has a deep, unexpected connection to the Abernathy.

Elsewhere, Agent Crayton is also digging into things he shouldn’t. Can Goode stop him before he goes poking at the masked assassin Calaveras and gets them both killed?

Ultimately, is the Beauty an advantage in a person’s career, or does it just pull them into danger?

The Beauty #3 is interesting but feels like it’s starting to stretch things out a bit too much

Agent Crayton can’t outrun his past, not as long as The Abernathy knows what he did and holds him in their grip. Is the price they are attempting to extract from him too high, or can he live with the harm helping them will do to the people around him?

Things aren’t so bad for Kelvin Frost, however. The weather man has gotten the Beauty, and he’s already discovering how the disease can change your life in a myriad of ways–from the gorgeous girl he’s now having a fling with to the police knocking on his door wondering what he knows about the death of the man who helped him get the virus.

You see, it’s a disease that comes with consequences, but that doesn’t stop people from wanting to get it. Or seeing a necessity for it. Whether you’re an aging football star like Skottie or a highly paid thief like Nox, sometimes you’re going to do what you have to do to get ahead.

The Beauty premieres January 2026

The Beauty Vol. 1

The Beauty, the comic series turned television show, has its premiere date, which is Wednesday, January 21, 2026 on both FX and Hulu. The first three episodes will launch starting at 9pm ET/PT. The following eight episodes will be released weekly each Wednesday at the same time with a pair of episodes airing back-to-back in the show’s final two weeks.

The Ryan Murphy television show is based on the comic by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. It was originally released by Image Comics and a new volume is being released by Ignition Press who also released a new collection of the original volume.

In The Beauty, the world of high fashion turns dark when international supermodels begin dying in gruesome and mysterious ways. FBI Agents Cooper Madsen (Evan Peters) and Jordan Bennett (Rebecca Hall) are sent to Paris to uncover the truth. As they delve deeper into the case, they uncover a sexually transmitted virus that transforms ordinary people into visions of physical perfection, but with terrifying consequences. Their path leads them directly into the crosshairs of The Corporation (Ashton Kutcher), a shadowy tech billionaire who has secretly engineered a miracle drug dubbed ‘The Beauty,’ who will do anything to protect his trillion-dollar empire—including unleashing his lethal enforcer, The Assassin (Anthony Ramos). As the epidemic spreads, Jeremy (Jeremy Pope), a desperate outsider, is caught in the chaos, searching for purpose as the agents race across Paris, Venice, Rome, and New York to stop a threat that could alter the future of humanity. The Beauty is a global thriller that asks: what would you sacrifice for perfection?

The Beauty #1 has a great concept and some fantastic art and an intriguing concept in today’s world

Set in a world not unlike our own, The Beauty chronicles what happens when a new sexually transmitted disease begins to spread. Only, this is a disease that people actually want, as those who contract it are literally changed into more beautiful versions of themselves. The only hitch is a slight fever and, eventually, death. But isn’t that an easy price to pay to be gorgeous?

This new series follows several characters as they deal with the Beauty and how it has changed society around them. A thief for hire on a dangerous job, a meteorologist with plummeting ratings, and special agents specializing in Beauty-related crimes will all find their lives converging in unexpected ways. And some fan favorite characters from the original series will return, as well.
