Cable #1 Breaks Out the Big Guns This Spring!

Lock and load, True Believer – Cable is back, and better than ever! Brand new mission, brand new creators, non-stop action! Marvel has announce the all-new Cable #1 – coming at you this Spring from Eisner Award-winning writer James Robinson and blockbuster artist Carlos Pacheco!

With all of time hanging in the balance, there’s only one man with the skills to save it. A new foe has emerged, bending time and manipulating history to his own sinister ends. Picking up a threat to the time-stream and the universe itself, Cable sets off on a high octane, history-spanning chase to save reality as we know it! From a six-gun duel at high noon to a swordfight in Feudal Japan, Cable must fight to keep history from unraveling!

In an interview Robinson said:

One of the things about Cable is he’s a ‘time warrior’. Time travel is part of his make-up in almost every aspect of his history – no pun intended. This series will be Cable on a race against time to fix time. And in the course of Cable’s mission, we’ll see him in a lot of great time periods like 15th century Japan, WWI, the Stone Age, Victorian England and on and on, with those time periods made more crazy and sci-fi by time being fractured by the villain of our series.

This Spring, walk softly…and carry a big gun! The chase through the time-stream is on!

The first issue features a cover by Dale Keown.

Meet the Next Class of X-Men in Generation X!

For the first time in years, the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning throws open its doors once again in Generation X #1! Join writer Christina Strain and artist Amilcar Pinna as they join forces to bring fans the next generation of mutantkind – if the students survive!

Once a shining beacon and safe haven for young mutants everywhere, the next class of X-Men begin their long journey right here at the Xavier Institute. But let’s face it: not all mutants are created equal. Some young mutants aren’t cut out to be the next X-Men. You just hope will survive their first run-in with a Sentinel. But Jubilee isn’t about to sell her class of underdogs short. Under her instruction and mentorship, she hopes to navigate them through growing pains and dangers that would put even the most seasoned X-Men to the test!

In an interview Strain said:

Traditionally, the Xavier Institute’s been the place for societally rejected young mutants to seek shelter. Once there, they’re taught how to properly harness their powers and sometimes, after graduating, some of them have gone on to become full-fledged X-Men. But let’s be real for a second. Not every young mutant is X-Men material…

What do you do when you’re the outcasts among the outcasts? When you don’t fit in – even at the school you were promised you’d belong? You forge your own path. Welcome to Generation X, hope you survive the experience! It all kicks off this Spring!

The X-Men Blue and Gold Teams and Creators are Revealed

With Marvel‘s next big X-Men event Inhumans vs. X-Men kicking off this week, we’re already looking ahead to what comes after. About a month ago the comic publisher began to release teasers for ResurrXion which hinted as to what’s to come next. Two of those teasers were for X-Men: Blue and X-Men: Gold which went for the nostalgia of long time fans. In the 90s the X teams were split into two squads, Blue and Gold, before being merged back together.

While we knew about the return of the split, we didn’t know who would be involved creatively or what the roster of each team would consist of (though each teaser makes that part clear in retrospect).

X-Men: Gold will be written by Marc Guggenheim with art by Ardian Syaf and consist of Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Old Man Logan, Rachel Grey, and Kitty Pryde who will be the new team leader.

This new series will take the team back to its roots in many ways with a new iteration returning to the focus on racism and anti-mutant hysteria… oh yeah, there’s also a new Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. With Pryde as the leader it’s a more positive outlook and the team getting back to being heroes. That means no more Guardians of the Galaxy for Kitty Pryde and also Storm stepping aside and passing the baton. Rachel Grey also gets a makeover and a new codename of Prestige.

X-Men: Blue will be written by Cullen Bunn with art by Jorge Molina with the time-trapped Cyclops, Iceman, Beast, Angel, Jean Grey as the leader, and Magneto as a mentor. That last part sets some interesting things up because it was Magneto that the team first battled so many years ago and they really only know him as that having missed that character’s evolution over the years.

The two teams will also operate out of the same headquarters, but it’s unknown if it’s the current HQ located in Limbo.

The two series launch April 2017 and will ship twice a month.

ResurrXion Teases Iceman Series

Marvel began to tease ResurrXion at the end of last week with more promised this week. The first is Iceman #1 with images of Iceman throughout the years.

The teasers are most likely what we can expect post Death of X and IVX which are two big events going over the next few months hinting at a “reboot” of the “X” universe, a line of comics many think have been neglected by the publisher.

We’ll keep on updating as more is revealed.
