From Eisner Award-nominated writer/artist Patrick Horvath (Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees) comes a 56-page, self-contained one-shot that delivers a brutal new vision of capitalism by combat . . .

In the future, the World Finance League exists to benefit all, randomly choosing those from among the billionaires and trillionaires of the world and presenting them with a choice: either donate half of their assets to the common good-or defend them in ritual combat.

Reigning champion and real estate magnate Ted Brooks has 22 victories under his belt-defending the wealth he schemed and stabbed to get-when he is forced to face his ex-wife, Luella Dominguez, in a fight to the death. Luella has been training, waiting for this moment. But will she have what it takes to defeat the man who would do anything-absolutely anything-to keep his fortune?

It’s every shareholder for themselves when death and bankruptcy collide in Free for All #1, a giant-sized, one-shot spectacle of commerce and carnage coming this March from Eisner Award-nominated cartoonist Patrick Horvath!

Love Ignited is a really solid anthology with some really twisted entries

Sometimes love can be a little… weird!

Ignition Press debuts its first anthology, and it’s an oversized hunk ‘o burning love spanning from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of space! Emotions run hot in romance, and some people go to extremes for the person — or creature — they desire.

Free for All is an action book for the shitty fascist, late capitalist reality that is 2026

Free For All

What if instead of sitting on their money like Smaug the Dragon, funneling it into documentaries about the wife of a rapist directed by a rapist, or using it to actively billionaires (and trillionaires, ugh) donated half their fortunes to the people. And if they refused, they fought each other to the death in a Roman gladiators, but slightly more high tech manner. This is the premise of the graphic novella Free for All by auteur cartoonist Patrick Horvath. The story has been released in a few different formats, but I would argue that the upcoming Oni Press edition is the definitive version featuring an interview with Horvath and some behind the scenes commentary on the book’s thrilling final pages. So, it’s a treat for process nerds as well as folks who want a cathartic, yet slightly unsettling shot of fight comic adrenaline.

Let’s start by talking about the art! Patrick Horvath is a cartoonist’s cartoonist, and he does a good job using page composition and body language to flesh out the two main characters, Ted, a real estate magnate (Think the late Dr. Jerry Buss if he had a Spartacus fixation instead of a basketball/chasing women one!) and his ex-wife Luella, who is a woman spurned-turned-girl boss-turned-first lady of vengeance. (Think MacKenzie Scott meets Katniss Everdeen, but more District One or Two than Twelve.) At pivotal parts in Free For All, Horvath goes full trippy anatomy model on us and uses these memorable visuals and free verse captions to give us a literal glimpse into their heads. It’s part human vulnerability, part CEO LinkedIn mantra. I definitely don’t love these characters, but I don’t despise them either.

Where Free For All really works is in the actual fights. There are two main ones in the book: Ted vs Cameron, a healthcare CEO and Ted vs Luella. Even though Ted is beyond a match for Cameron, Patrick Horvath plays out the battle to show his bond with the crowd and obsession with fighting. There is some dark humor too in Cameron fiddling with the sci-fi raygun weapon plus plenty of flop sweat and a heavy heaping of red blood and gore. Horvath definitely goes for over the top with the violence. And like all healthcare CEOs, he is pretty pathetic. However, the fight between Ted and Luella is a proper physical chess match that is heightened by the bond they once shared. The battle could really go any way.

Free for All is an action book for the shitty fascist, late capitalist reality that is 2026. It’s kind of utopian, kind of dystopian, and kind of about a couple slamming the door shut on their relationship in a way that affects the world economy. Patrick Horvath has become a comics superstar for his work on Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, and this is another exciting addition to his body of work showing off his fight choreography chops and satirical bite.

Archie Comics and Oni Press Begin New Era in 2026 with a Publishing Partnership

Oni Press and Archie Comic Publications, Inc. have revealed an ambitious and wide-ranging publishing partnership that will mark a milestone new beginning for Archie, Betty and Veronica, Jughead, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Josie and the Pussycats, and the rest of Riverdale’s most iconic characters across a distinctly original and stylistically reimagined slate of monthly comic series, original graphic novels, and prestige collections honoring the full breadth and influence of Archie Comics’ nearly nine-decade history.

The joy of being young. The pain of growing up. In 2026, the fantastical, pure-pop existence of “America’s Favorite Teenager” will be thrown into overdrive as Archie Andrews reaches a once-in-a-lifetime crossroads between then and now, daydream and reality, the heat of the moment and the vast expanse of eternity, across three daring new monthly series from some of the most brilliantly innovative creators working in the comics industry today: multiple Eisner Award nominee W. Maxwell Prince, Hugo Award nominee Corinna Bechko, and Harvey Award winner Patrick Horvath, working alongside riveting artists, including multiple Eisner Award winner Fábio Moon, Nick Cagnetti, Eisner Award nominee Kano, and Russ Manning Award winner Tyler Crook.

Full creative details on each series are being kept under tight wraps, but readers and retailers can expect to hear more as Oni Press and Archie begin a unified marketing and communications campaign for their new slate that will include key appearances at the annual ComicsPRO Industry Conference in Glendale, CA and San Diego Comic-Con 2026 in the months ahead.

Following the debut of the all-new Archie #1 in September 2026, the unprecedented publishing partnership between Oni Press and Archie Comics will continue as Oni releases a wave of brand-new collections spanning all eras of Archie’s history in variety of formats – including compact digest editions, deluxe hardcovers and omnibi, and comprehensive box sets – that will spotlight contributions from the characters’ original creators John L. In 2027, the line will expand further will the debut of an all-new line of middle grade and young adult graphic novels – set in their own, accessible continuity outside of the core Oni Press publishing line – that will feature contributions from some of the most acclaimed and recognizable talents writing and illustrating for those audiences today. Coming up, Archie will next appear on the small screen in a live-action horror series Afterlife with Archie on Disney+  followed by the big screen in a new live-action feature film written by Eisner Award winner Tom King and produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller for Universal Pictures.

This is the third publishing partnership Oni Press has announced in recent years. Along with Archie, Oni is also publishing comics under the classic EC Comics imprint and Matt Kindt’s Flux House imprint debuts in Summer 2026.

Exquisite Corpses #6 gets a variant cover by Patrick Horvath featuring Rascal Randy gone wild!

Tiny Onion is celebrating the release of the upcoming Exquisite Corpses #6 by unwrapping the stealth Cover D by lauded horror creator Patrick Horvath, featuring bunny mascot killer Rascal Randy sitting upon a throne of bodies at a birthday party. The brand new artwork will grace the October issue from the critically acclaimed, bestselling horror series published by Image Comics, which is hitting shelves just in time for Halloween. Exquisite Corpses masterminds, writer James Tynion IV and artist Michael Walsh, will be joined by contributing Corpse Crew creators Tyler Boss and Gavin Fullerton on writing and art duties, respectively.

Horvath is known for writing and illustrating the hit horror series Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, a Lynchian Calico Critters-type of story about cuddly animals and the secret serial killers living amongst them. Using his knowledge of killer animals, celebrated cartoonist Horvath has illustrated unhinged bunny mascot killer Rascal Randy, who is one of twelve assassins who fight to the death in the first season of comic book series Exquisite Corpses.

In Exquisite Corpses, every five years on Halloween, the wealthiest families in America play a game. 12 of the deadliest people in the world are dropped into a small town with just one goal: last killer standing wins. For the citizens of Oak Valley, Maine—this year’s unlucky arena—the goal is much simpler. They must survive the night.

In Exquisite Corpses #6, “Trick or Treat” has never had deadlier stakes as civilians Craig and Jason unknowingly go door to door with this year’s youngest killer. And a high score for G4m3r_K1d means a very bad night for everyone else. This will be Exquisite Corpses’ most gut-wrenching chapter yet!

Exquisite Corpses came together in a writers’ room led by Tynion and Walsh and made up of Corpse Crew comics superstars. Each issue of the series builds upon the last in a true ‘exquisite corpse’ game style, with a passing of the storytelling baton from creator-to-creator in a collaborative and competitive fashion. Exquisite Corpses begins with a 13-issue story arc, but its world will expand with additional stories.

There is also a companion trading card game and fans can collect killer cards early with ones exclusively found in polybagged Cover C variants of each issue. Fans eager to play the game early can collect all 13 polybagged issues to make a complete card deck set. Some readers may be lucky enough to pull a rare foil variant of the killer cards, found in the polybagged Cover C editions.

Image Comics and Tiny Onion just announced that issues #2 and #3 of Exquisite Corpses sold out completely at the distributor level. Image Comics has fast-tracked reprints of these issues in order to keep up with demand. The Exquisite Corpses #2 third printing, Exquisite Corpses #3 second printing, and a new issue #3 polybagged variant, with a killer card, will be available in comic book shops on October 1, in time for spooky season.

Exquisite Corpses #6 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, October 22.
