NYCC 2018: Outcast by Kirkman & Azaceta Ends in a Twelve Issue Arc Beginning this December

Robert Kirkman took to the stage at New York Comic Con to announce the series’ final story arc of his co-created horror series with Paul Azaceta, Outcast by Kirkman & Azaceta. The final arc will kick off in December with issue #37.

The final arc will build to a crescendo of plot twists over the course of twelve issues and end on issue #48 will the long-planned ending to the psychological horror series first launched in 2014 to critical acclaim.

Outcast by Kirkman & Azaceta follows Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life and now he needs answers. Unfortunately, what he uncovers along the way could bring about the end of life on Earth as we know it.

Outcast by Kirkman & Azaceta #37 (Diamond Code OCT180225) will hit stores on Wednesday, December 19th. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, November 26th.

The Final Four Image Variants

Image Comics has revealed the final 4 of 15 tribute variants planned for February’s 25th anniversary theme month to round out the full list of “tribute covers” celebrating the legendary cover images from throughout the Image’s history.

The newly revealed tribute variants include: Sean Lewis & Hayden Sherman’s The Few #2 commemorating Jonathan Hickman & Nick Dragotta’s East of West #1, Chris Dingess, Matthew Roberts, Owen Gieni’s Manifest Destiny #26 commemorating Jonathan Layman & Rob Guillory’s Chew #1, Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda’s Monstress #10 commemorating Todd McFarlane’s Spawn #1, and Outcast by Robert Kirkman & Paul Azaceta #25 commemorating Rob Liefeld’s Brigade #1.

Each month of Image’s 25th year will announce a list of special themed anniversary variants, which will begin to hit shelves on Wednesday, February 1st—the exact date of Image Comics’ founding in 1992, and the date of this year’s “Image Comics Day.”

The Walking Dead #163 Pre-Order Exceeds 730,000

the-walking-dead-163The Walking Dead #163 is the Direct Market’s highest ordered comic in nearly 20 years. Image Comics has announced The Walking Dead #163 by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard has a pre-order exceeding 730,000 copies—without the aid of subscription box numbers to bolster the overall total—making the goal of expanding readership through a promotional 25¢ price point an overwhelming success.

The Walking Dead #163’s orders overtake every other high-charting comic in print today and surpass the orders of the Batman: The 10-Cent Adventure one-shot that topped Diamond’s unit sales charts in January 2002.

Coming on the heels of the bestselling “The Whisper War” storyline, this issue marks the beginning of the “Conquered” story arc in the long-running blockbuster series and provides the perfect opportunity for discovery for new readers or fans of the hit AMC TV show to get hooked on the comic series.

Image Comics’ 25¢ initiative has a goal of encouraging consumers to visit their local comic shop and beyond a temporary boost of sales its hope is to increase the exposure of some of Image’s best-known titles. The initiative begins with The Walking Dead #163 and includes Invincible #133 and Outcast by Kirkman & Azaceta #25. The company is looking for the “long-term benefits of getting more readers into stores and more of the world’s best creator-owned comics into those readers’ hands.”

This initiative is part of Image’s 25th-anniversary celebration.

The Walking Dead #163 will be available in stores on Wednesday, February 1st—just in time for fans to celebrate “Image Day”.

Image Comics and Skybound’s 25¢ Issues in Celebration of 25 Years

Image Comics/Skybound has announced that The Walking Dead #163 by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard, Invincible #133 by Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley and Nathan Fairbairn, and Outcast by Kirman & Azaceta #25 by Robert Kirkman, Paul Azaceta, and Elizabeth Breitwieser, will all hit stores this February 2017 with a $0.25 price point in celebration of Image Comics’ 25th anniversary.

The Walking Dead #163 begins an all-new story arc and readers are met with the aftermath of the Whisperer War.

Ryan Ottley returns as artist on Invincible #133 just as “THE END OF ALL THINGS” begins. This 12-part mega-story will touch every corner of the INVINCIBLE universe, and when it’s over… IT’S OVER. Every single story for the past 13 years has been leading up to this last finale story arc.

Outcast by Kirman & Azaceta #25 begins an all-new story arc as well and provides a major turning point in the series. New characters are introduced and big things are in store for Kyle Barnes as he’s faced with something he never could have prepared for—hope. Everything changes in this 25th issue, for $0.25, in celebration of the 25th anniversary.
