Titan Comics unleashes the Kraken this September from Shannon Eric Denton and David Hartman

Writer and Monster Forge founder Shannon Eric Denton and artist David Hartman team up for an electrifying new adventure in Kraken, a brand-new original graphic novel which publishes in September 2025, from Titan Comics.

Set in alternate 1930s filled with dark magic, ancient horrors, and occult powers, Kraken will captivate fans of historical and supernatural thrillers. After disappearing for three years, esteemed adventurer Kraken returns to reality in search of allies to stop an evil sorceress from unleashing a horde of eldritch monsters on the world. Armed with a pistol and supernatural tentacles, the Kraken is loose!

Shannon Eric Denton and David Hartman are trailblazing creators with extensive careers in film, television, and comics. Denton is an award-winning director and writer, with credits spanning Disney, Sony, and Warner Brothers. Hartman, a Spectrum Award-winning artist, has had his work featured across comics, and games, notably credited on Transformers Prime and Phantasm Ravager. 

Kraken comes with two covers to collect from David Hartman, and Mike Mignola and is on sale September 30, 2025!

If you’re a fan of pop culture today, you’d be hard pressed NOT to have run across the work of the team behind Monster Forge Presents: gHosts!. Did you enjoy The Suicide Squad?  Get a rush from Winning Time? Are you a fan of cosplay? Actor David Dastmalchian, Writer/Executive Producer Rodney Barnes, and cosplay legend Leanna Vamp lend their character creations to this multi-versal team up.

The team on writing and art duties is equally as impressive. Written by Cullen Bunn and Shannon Eric Denton with art by David Hartman and Chynna Clugston Flores, this one-shot is a story eerily well suited for the horror of Halloween.

Investigator Nita Hawes is drawn into a decades old missing child case when she’s sent a mysterious VHS tape featuring horror hosts Count Crowley, Vamp, Doctor Fearless, Desdemona, Uncle Monster and Ms. Halloween. The hosts do what they can to guide her recovery mission but even with their help, Nita may find herself lost in a Halloween nightmare if she can’t solve this case!

Supporters of the campaign are in for massive treats, as there are opportunities for signatures, sketches, and more from this incredible lineup of talent!

Steve Niles, Shannon Eric Denton, and Dan Evans Launch Monster Forge Productions

Steve Niles and Shannon Eric Denton have launched Monster Forge Productions, a new company focusing on horror properties. Joining them as a creative consultant is Dan Evans a former vp, creative affairs for DC Entertainment. Niles is the co-creator of the 30 Days of Night franchise and Denton is an artist and animator.

The company is a multi-platform production division that brings together Niles and Denton’s longstanding work and creator relationships focused on film, television, interactive entertainment, gaming, and merchandising. Material will be for adults and kids.

Monster Forge will parter with artists and writers to build franchises across media and appeal to audiences of all ages.

The company already has an impressive roster of talent to work with including Star Trek: Picard supervising producer Marc Bernardin, legendary toy designer James Groman (Madballs), N.W.A. co-founder Arabian Prince, BOOM! Studios co-founder and Hellboy screenwriter Andrew Cosby, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman, The Grudge 3 screenwriter Brad Keene, Hack/Slash creator Tim Seeley and the estate of legendary horror illustrator Bernie Wrightson, among others.
