New Variant Covers Spotlight art from Marvel Dimensions, Alex Ross’ Upcoming Graphic Novel

This September, Alex Ross reimagines the Marvel Universe in Marvel Dimensions, an all-new graphic novel from Marvel and Abrams ComicArts as part of their Marvel Arts line, releasing September 1, 2026. Written and illustrated by Ross, the upcoming graphic novel follows the incomparable artist’s acclaimed work on Fantastic Four: Full Circle with an expansive, reality-shattering saga that includes beautifully painted depictions of Marvel heroes’ iconic origins and early stories. Starting in June, eighteen pieces of artwork from Marvel Dimensions will appear as stunning Variant Covers across select Marvel Comics titles.

Last year, Marvel Comics entered the world of Magic: The Gathering with Magic: The Gathering – Marvel’s Spider-Man! The all-new crossover set featured original artwork of Spider-Man, iconic Spider-Verse heroes, and legendary Spider-Man supervillains drawn by both superstar comic book artists and renowned Magic: The Gathering artists. To celebrate this exciting collaboration, Marvel will feature the art of Magic: The Gathering – Marvel’s Spider-Man on a new series of variant covers and virgin variant covers this May.

Infernal Hulk #4 takes us into the Hulkscape teasing the battle to come

INTO THE HULKSCAPE As the Infernal Hulk’s Age of Monsters rages across the globe, the INCREDIBLE Hulk is effectively dead, his consciousness locked away in the brutal depths of the Hulkscape. But Hulk discovers he’s not alone… his previous alters are locked in with him, as well as the countless victims and vessels of ELDEST. Could one of the Hulks possess the key to taking back their stolen body? And could they have a way to communicate with their long-lost companion CHARLIE? Infernal Hulk #4 is an interesting chapter in the series but one that might leave new readers a little lost.

Infernal Hulk is a solid series so far. While it builds off of the previous Hulk series written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, it generally has been easy to dive in to for new readers. As long as you knew the basics you were fine and could follow along. Infernal Hulk #4 feels like the exception to that as it dives into a world called the Hulkscape where the Hulk remains as an evil god runs around in his body. While the concept, like the series overall, is pretty straightforward, there’s a lot of details here and some teases to the previous volume of the series that will likely go over the heads of those new to the series. While it’s generally easy to understand the concept, there’s just a lot that feels like is missed.

But still, even with a focus on a follow up to the previous volume, Infernal Hulk #4 is a solid issue with various Hulks battling it out in a strange world and teasing what might be the solution to this problem. But more importantly, the comic also teases the reaction to this new Hulk running around. So far, this Hulk has destroyed American armed forces, battled a giant in the ocean, and is clearly a threat. That’s beginning to be acknowledged teasing a major confrontation to come and wondering who or what might stop this new Hulk?

The art by Nic Klein continues to shine. With color by Klein and Matthew Wilson and lettering by Cory Petit, the series has a sickly glow about it perfectly capturing the otherworldly aspect of this Hulk and what’s going on. The Hulkscape is packed with detail that I’m sure long time readers will appreciate and the various Hulks look great. This is supposed to be a nightmare-like world and it comes off as such in every aspect. This is a series whose art is on point emphasizing its horror roots and helping to elevate the series as a whole.

Infernal Hulk #4 works really well as a piece of the puzzle. There’s small details and teases here that are sure to pay off as the series progresses. But, while it’s a needed chapter, it builds off of the previous volume in a way that new readers might feel lost. But, even with that, it’s an interesting issue that builds on an excellent series.

Doom Homage Variant Covers Glorify Marvel’s Greatest Supervillain!

What happened to Bruce Banner? Infernal Hulk #3 teases the answer

What happened to Bruce Banner in that cave? As the monsters’ war on humanity rages across land and sea, Bruce Banner and Betty Ross have finally found their life of quiet normalcy, free from their past and the threat of the Infernal Hulk…or so they think. Is Banner really free? How long can they hide as the world burns down…and what happens when their nightmares find them? Infernal Hulk #3 gives readers more as to what happened to Bruce Banner and the life he’s now living without the Hulk.

If you’re not reading Infernal Hulk, you’re missing out. The comic has infused horror with superheroes in a way that delivers actual dread and fear. Writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson has tapped into something primordial, that you can feel the fear and imagine feeling it yourself in the situation.

In Infernal Hulk, an ancient being now controls Hulk having cast out Bruce Banner who is living a peaceful life with Betty Ross, both going by different names. Both have had the powerful beings that once inhabited them ripped out leaving each to deal with it in different ways.

Johnson dives deep into the trauma of it all. Both Bruce and Betty have experienced terror to get where they are and each are handling it differently. Bruce wans to move on and find some peace in his life. Betty misses what should could experience, a piece of her torn away making her weaker. Infernal Hulk #3 pulls no punches and delivers emotional depth that’ll hit readers. The issue takes the horror in a far different direction and it hits in a far different way. A different type of fear is present and it leads to the sadness of the situation.

The art by Kev Walker and Nic Klein is excellent. With ink by Cam Smith and Klein, color by Matthew Wilson and Klein, and lettering by Cory Petit, the comic is an interesting transition to that unease that lies underneath suburbia. Bruce and Betty go to their jobs and attempt to live their lives but the art even by itself creates an ominous feel to it all. There’s something to it that makes it clear things are not right and something is off. Then, there’s that page. The comic should have a very clear trigger warning (it might and the digital copy doesn’t or I missed it) that hits like a ton of bricks. The look in Betty’s eyes. The chaos that surrounds her. It’s an emotional punch delivered through the visuals and deliver trauma, horror, desperation, and fear, all in one image.

Infernal Hulk #3 is a strong contender for issue of the year (already). While it doesn’t spill everything that explains how Bruce Banner exists without the Hulk, but it gives enough to satiate readers for a while. It’s a hell of an issue that should not be missed.

Ario Anindito Toughens Up Marvel Heroes in Hell’s Kitchen Variant Covers

The Punisher’s brutal brand of justice makes heroes across the Marvel Universe uneasy, but what if they followed in his footsteps? This February, acclaimed artist Ario Anindito imagines a world where Spider-Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, and more embraced Frank Castle’s methods in Hell’s Kitchen Variant Covers. The new variant cover collection arrives just in time for the launch of the new Punisher ongoing series by Benjamin Percy and Jose Luis Soares where the character ignites his latest war against organized crime while searching for answers about his missing memories.

The art pieces gave Anindito a chance to design new costumes inspired by Punisher’s classic costume, replacing the iconic skull with emblems reflecting the individual heroes.
