Samurai Jack Returns To Comic Books With A Quantum Twist

Jack is back! Samurai Jack, that is, and he’s making his grand return to comics, courtesy of writer Fabian Rangel Jr. and artist Warwick Johnson Cadwell. Hot off the heels of the critically acclaimed Helena Crash, the pair are re-teaming for a bold new take on the iconic samurai.

The story, entitled “Quantum Jack,” sees Jack like we’ve never seen him before. After getting zapped by an experimental Quantum Ray, Jack is sent hurtling into one alternate reality after another, his memories erased, but his spirit intact. Can you imagine Jack as the leader of a ruthless biker gang of bounty hunters? Thanks to the warped minds of Rangel Jr. and Cadwell, you don’t have to. They’ve done it for you! And that’s just the beginning…

In addition to Cadwell’s highly stylized art giving Samurai Jack fans a different, yet familiar, spin on the character, artists Michael Avon Oeming, Alexis Zirritt, and Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky, will all be providing cover art for the debut issue.

IDW’s acclaimed history of publishing high-octane Samurai Jack comics will resume this September as a new chapter emerges from the time stream and new versions of Jack with it!

IDW’s Newest Creation, Dexter’s Laboratory!

Through a partnership with Cartoon Network Enterprises, IDW Publishing has set about giving new life to the most beloved cartoons of the past two decades. Starting with Samurai Jack, The Powerpuff Girls, and Ben 10, the next Cartoon Network classic to join the acclaimed lineup is none other than Dexter’s Laboratory!

Created by Genndy Tartakovsky, Dexter’s Laboratory followed the adventures of a young genius savant whose brilliant inventions were tucked deep down in a secret laboratory away from his oblivious parents… but not his sabotaging sister. Facing off against rogue creations, arch nemeses, and his sister’s meddling, Dexter’s Laboratory was one of the most successful original cartoons on Cartoon Network.

Dexter’s IDW debut this April will bring back the favorite characters and inventions from the original series to tell all-new adventures. Written by Derek Fridolfs with art by Ryan Jampole Dexter is going to have to increase his lab’s security if he wants to keep his sister Dee Dee’s hands off his newest invention!

Look for the return of Dexter’s Laboratory and all of the sci-fi fun this April!

Back From the Past, Samurai Jack!

Battling against the forces of evil and the oddities of the future, Samurai Jack’s stoic journey is not over yet, in fact, it’s just beginning! The long wait is almost over as the fan-favorite series is set to make its IDW debut this October! Through a partnership with Cartoon Network Enterprises, IDW will create and distribute a series of comic books being released monthly.

A cult-classic and fan-favorite of the highest order, the popular and acclaimed animated series from Cartoon Network pitted a feudal Samurai known only as Jack against the ancient demon wizard, Aku. Displaced in time, Jack was made to traverse a strange landscape of the future to find his way back to his own time.

The series will be written by Jim Zub who will be joined by Andy Suriano (Character Designer on the original Samurai Jack television series) to lead Jack on his newest adventure!

The first five-issue arc will explore the secrets of the “Rope of Eons,”

In addition to the great talent already working on this book, the first arc features variant covers by the show’s immensely talented creator, Genndy Tartakovsky!
