NYCC 2025: Post Malone will be in attendance for Big Rig!

Post Malone has officially announced that he will attend New York Comic Con with Vault Comics to celebrate his best-selling comic book series, Big Rig

Post will join the already announced Big Rig panel that will take place on Friday October 10th from 5:00pm to 6:00pm inside the Javitz Center in room 405. The panel will also feature Big Rig artist Nathan Gooden, Big Rig co-writer and Vault Editor-in-Chief Adrian Wassel, and Vault CEO and Publisher, Damian Wassel.  The panel will be full of surprises as it focuses on the past, present, and future of all things Big Rig, from inside the comic to its adaptations beyond.  

Vault will have limited quantities of special deluxe hardcover editions of Big Rig for sale at the site, as well as some exceedingly rare Big Rig #1 convention exclusive single issue variant covers drawn by legendary artists such as Peach Momoko and Pete Carroll

NYCC 2025: Vault Comics Celebrates Post Malone’s Big Rig with a Panel

Vault has announced they will host a star-studded panel for Post Malone’s Big Rig at New York Comic Con 2025.   Joining the panel will be Vault Editor-in-Chief and Big Rig co-writer Adrian Wassel, series artist Nathan Gooden, Vault Publisher & CEO Damian Wassel, and some extremely special guests. The Big Rig panel will be moderated by Coy Jandreau.

The panel will take place on Friday October 10th from 5:00pm to 6:00pm inside the Javitz Center in room 405 and will focus on the past, present, and future of all things Big Rig, from inside the comic to its adaptations beyond.  

Vault will have limited quantities of special deluxe hardcover editions of Post Malones’ Big Rig for sale at the site, as well as some very rare Big Rig #1 convention exclusive single issue variants by legendary artists Peach Momoko and Pete Carroll.

Aethon Books has acquired a majority interest in Vault Comics

Aethon Books has announced that it has acquired a majority interest in Vault Comics. The two companies in 2023 announced a partnership to publish titles across the comic book and graphic novel and ebook and audiobook categories.

In the 2023 partnership, Aethon was to publish ebook and audiobook adaptations and tie-ins of titles from the Vault library, while Vault would publish comic book and graphic novel adaptations and tie-ins of titles from the Aethon library. Two subsequent announcements were made regarding actual products (catch that here and here). In 2020, Heavy Metal Entertainment and Aethon announced a similar partnership.

Vault will continue to be led by CEO, Damian Wassel, and CCO, Adrian Wassel. Aethon co-founders Rhett Bruno and Steve Beaulieu will join the board of Vault. Wassel confirmed that the deal does not affect current staffing at Vault and team members will continue in their roles.

Wassel also indicated that high profile investors in Vault including Jeff Ubben, UTA, Crush Ventures and Metallica’s investment arm Black Squirrel Partners remain invested in the merged company.

The terms of Aethon and Vault’s deal have not been disclosed.

Michael Bay is in talks to direct Barbaric based on the Vault Comics series

Michael Bay may be heading to television. The director is in talks to direct Barbaric, the television based on the comic published by Vault Comics. The series has been picked up by Netflix and will be developed by A+E Studios.

Barbaric launched in 2021 and created by Michael Moreci and Nathan Gooden. The comic has been a hit spawning multiple volumes, a spin-off series, as well as an innovative crowdbuilding campaign.

The series is about a warrior barbarian looking for redemption and a demonic axe and their ongoing adventures.

Sam Claflin and Patrick Stewart are set to star in the series. Claflin will step into the main role of Owen while Stewart will voice the axe. It’s being written and exec produced by Sheldon Turner.

Also exec producing is Turner’s partner at 100% Productions, Jennifer Klein. F.J. DeSanto and Damian Wassel of Vault Comics and Claflin will also exec produce along with Luke Carroll and Michael Stevenson of Cusp Films. Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson of A+E Studios are part of the exec producing team as well.

Zack Kaplan, John J. Pearson, and Vault’s Mindset is being adapted for television

Boat Rocker has announced it has partnered with Don Cheadle’s production company This Radicle Act to develop a scripted television adaptation of Mindset, an acclaimed science fiction mystery from Vault Comics.  

Created by writer Zack Kaplan and artist John J. PearsonMindset is a near-future science fiction story of a Silicon Valley startup that accidentally invents a mind control app, and unwittingly opens a Pandora’s Box of mind games and murder that will force them — and the audience — to question whether they are in control of their own actions.

Boat Rocker’s David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, and Nick Nantell will executive produce for Boat Rocker. This Radicle Act president, Karyn Smith-Forge, will oversee the project for Cheadle’s company. Smith-Forge and Cheadle will executive produce alongside Vault’s Damian Wassel and F.J. DeSanto. The co-creator of the comic, Zack Kaplan, will also executive produce. Anna Register will oversee the project for Boat Rocker. 

Justin Simien and Christopher Yose are adapting Heist: Or How to Steal a Planet for Confluential Films

Heist: Or How to Steal a Planet

Tommy Oliver’s Confluential Films is developing a feature film adaptation of Heist: Or How to Steal a Planet, a science fiction crime thriller published by Vault Comics. Filmmaker Justin Simien is attached to direct the adaptation and Christopher Yost is writing the screenplay, with Oliver producing. Wayne Horton, who brought the project in, is also producing through his production deal with Confluential Films.

The comic, created by writer Paul Tobin and artist Arjuna Susini, is set on the planet Heist, home to billions of the worst criminals in the galaxy. The Pan-Galactic government has no idea what to do with the planet, but conman Glane Breld and his band of thieves know exactly what to do with Heist. They’re going to steal it. The story follows Glane on his madcap scheme to pull off the biggest heist in the history of the galaxy.

Newly hired SVP, Film & TV, Liliane Bedford will oversee the project for Confluential Films. Damian Wassel and F.J. DeSanto will executive produce for Vault. Simien and Kyle Laursen will executive produce for Culture Machine.

Justin Simien is represented by CAA and Grandview. Christopher Yost is represented by Verve and Industry. Vault is represented by UTA, Industry and Weintraub Tobin. The deal was negotiated by Confluential’s Head of Business and Legal Affairs, Alexa Camarena.

Vault’s Resonant is being adapted for television streaming

Vault’s comic series Resonant will be adapted for television by CBS Studios, Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions, and First Purge director Gerrard McMurray

McMurray will executive produce, write, and direct the Resonant show which is targeted for the BET+ streaming platform. Vault CEO and Publisher, Damian Wassel, and Vault’s Head of Film & Television, F.J. DeSanto, will executive produce alongside Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Jordan Sheehan, and Clayton Krueger for Scott Free.  

Resonant is the Vault horror series co-created by writer David Andry and artists Alejandro Aragon and Skylar Patridge. In Resonant, A decade has passed since the first Waves hit, unleashing humanity’s darkest impulses and plunging the world into chaos. Paxton, a single father of three, must venture from the secluded haven they’ve built to restock the medicine his chronically-ill youngest son needs to survive. When the somewhat routine trip goes awry, Paxton and his children-now separated-will battle everything in their path to reunite.

Vagrant Queen Gets its First Official Trailer

With civilization at stake, it’s this queen, this deadbeat and this mechanic against a whole damn galaxy. Vagrant Queen premieres Friday, March 27 at 10/9c only on SyFy.

The television series is based on the comic from writer Magdalene Visaggio and artist Jason Smith. The comic series is published by Vault Comics.

Executive producing the television series are Lance Samuels and Daniel Iron as well as F.J. DeSanto and Damian Wassel of Vault Comics. Mika Collins and Mariko Tamaki are on board as writers. Confirmed directors so far include Garrard and Danishka Esterhazy.

Vault Comics’ Heathen Film Finds Its Director

Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has come on board the Viking fantasy-adventure Heathen for Constantin Film and Prime Universe Films.

Hardwicke will direct from a script by Kerry Williamson, based on Vault Comics‘ series by Natasha Alterici. She will also executive produce.

The stories center on the warrior Aydis, an outcast gay woman born into a time of warfare, suffering, and subjugation of women. She is on a mission to end the oppressive reign of the god-king Odin. The book was selected by the Young Adult Library Service Association to be included in its  2018 “Great Graphic Novels For Teens” list.

Constantin Film’s Robert Kulzer and Margo Klewans, Prime Universe Film’s Adrian Askarieh are producing along with F.J. DeSanto. Constantin Film’s Martin Moszkowicz and Vault CEO Damian Wassel will executive produce.
