ComicHub’s direct-to-reader marketing and pre-order tools will expand Money Shot’s presence in the mind’s of retailers and readers internationally. SDCC 2019: ComicHub Brings Indie Comic Store Data to NPD BookScan Starting in 2020

At the ComicsPRO Fresh Start breakfast, ComicHub, the fast-growing Point of Sale (POS) and Retail Information Solution for comics shops, announced that it has reached an agreement in principle with The NPD Group to make ComicHub the first supplier of POS data for US independent Comic Shops to NPD BookScan, creating an integrated view of the actual sell-through of bound comics and graphic novels in the US for the first time. The definitive agreement is expected to be signed by both parties on or before August 15, 2019.

Comic shops were one of the last independent book sales that wasn’t captured in BookScan.

Under this new agreement, ComicHub reporting retailers will also have access to BookScan data to help them understand what is going on in the larger market, so they can better engineer themselves to compete in today’s competitive environment.

ComicHub’s mission is to help build a stronger direct market in brick-and-mortar comic shops by using available data.

Sales of bound Comics & Graphic Novels (C/GN) have far out-performed the general book market in traditional book trade channels in the last five years, according to NPD BookScan, posting a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 12% since 2014, and growing from sales of 12M to 21M units during that time. By comparison the overall US Book market grew a modest 2% during the same period. C/GN category is up a further 7% in 2019, led by sales of Juvenile Fiction, Manga, and YA Fiction, which are up 11%, 15%,
and 26% year-over-year respectively.

ComicHub is the only Retail Information Solution of its kind in the comics industry which integrates Point Of Sale, Consumer Apps (web, iOS and Android), Email Marketing, E-Commerce Web Stores, and Publisher Analysis and Marketing tools to create a powerful solution for the entire comics industry.

BOOM! Studios and ComicHub Join Forces to Promote Once & Future

ComicHub

BOOM! Studios and ComicHub have announced a new partnership for comic shop retailers in support of Once & Future #1, kicking an anticipated new series from New York Times bestselling writer Kieron Gillen and Russ Manning Award-winning artist Dan Mora.

Through this partnership, BOOM! Studios will pair its industry-leading retailer incentives in support Once & Future with the burgeoning international reach of ComicHub’s network of comic book specialty stores to directly promote the series to customers utilizing the platform. Additionally, retailers who are also members of the BOOM! Guarantee program can sign up for ComicHub and receive $100 off their startup fee when they sign up at Retailer.Comichub.com. The combination of risk-free, affidavit returns on the entire Once & Future comic series and eventual collection combined with ComicHub’s next-generation suite of customer, retailer, and publisher tools will allow the publisher to assist retailers directly in maximizing their sell-through at launch.

Debuting in August 2019, Once & Future explores the mysteries of the past, the complicated truths of our history and the power of family to save the day…especially if that family has secret bunkers of ancient weapons and decades of experience hunting the greatest monsters in Britain’s history!

When a group of Nationalists use an ancient artifact to bring a villain from Arthurian myth back from the dead to gain power, ex-monster hunter Bridgette McGuire pulls her unsuspecting grandson Duncan, a museum curator, into a world of magic and mysticism to defeat a legendary threat. Now the two must navigate the complicated history of the McGuire family and combat the deadly secrets of England’s past that threaten its very future.

This partnership, the first between ComicHub and a comic book publisher, lines up with the company’s stated goal to “ensure the print comic industry continues to thrive in the digital era”. With innovative data technology and services that ensure that comics retailers give the very best service available to their customers, ComicHub has quickly made a name for itself as the newest standard for Retail Information Flow and Point Of Sale services in the comics industry.

Once & Future #1, featuring a cover by Dan Mora, will be available for sale on August 14, 2019.
