CMON and Spin Master Games are starting the new year by denting our wallets with a new board game coming soon to Kickstarter.
Marvel United is CMON’s next campaign and looks to be based on the popular Arcadia Quest board game based on the teased design but with Spin Master involved, maybe aimed at a younger crowd.
No date has been announced for the launch of the campaign.

Rising Sun, the award-winning board game published by CMON Limited and designed by Eric M. Lang, will see its epic setting, feudal combat, and political intrigue adapted to comics in an all-new comic book series from IDW Publishing.
Co-written by industry legend Ron Marz and David Rodriguez and illustrated by Martín Cóccolo, the three-issue miniseries will debut its first issue in November, and – as an added bonus – each issue of Rising Sun will feature exclusive content to enhance the game-playing experience for dedicated fans.
IDW’s Rising Sun storyline introduces Chiyoko of the Koi Clan, leader of a group of powerful warriors – the best each clan has to offer – on a mission to save Japan from dragons and monsters. But perhaps the greatest threat she faces is not the many monsters who are ravaging the country… but her very own team!
Game developer CMON’s highly-anticipated tabletop game (and Kickstarter darling) Starcadia Quest will come to comics beginning in August, courtesy of IDW Publishing. The first-ever expansion of the Starcadia universe, this three-issue miniseries welcomes James Roberts – the fan-favorite and critically acclaimed writer of Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye and Lost Light – to craft a wild new adventure for Starkid and his Freelance Adventuring Crew.
The comic is old-school science fiction with a modern twist mashing up classic space opera tropes with weird twists and turns. As it’s a game, the comic helps the world-building aspects of this world and setting.
Illustrated by Aurelio Mazzara and colored by David García Cruz, Starcadia Quest takes comic readers and game fans deep into the Frontier, where the toughest jobs in the galaxy are handled by Freelance Adventuring Crews. On his sixteenth birthday, the delivery boy known as Starkid sends out a call for the best recruits he can get… at his local Stardollars coffee shop. An action-packed and hilarious QWST begins!
The game and comic features solid character design, homages to science fiction movies and enemies, and acknowledges the stories and tropes that have come before. All of that and some laugh out-loud humor.
As a special bonus, each issue of Starcadia Quest will be jam-packed with additional pages’ worth of exclusive playable content, allowing readers to incorporate the issue’s story elements into their tabletop gameplay!
This December, following the wildly successful Kickstarter campaign for the Hate board game, Image Comics and Top Cow Productions will release an oversized trade paperback edition of Chronicles of Hate, collecting books one and two of internationally renowned artist Adrian Smith’s dark fantasy series.
Smith first came to prominence for his atmospheric, moody artwork and game illustrations for such popular franchises as Magic: The Gathering and Warhammer.
In a world where the sun is frozen and the moon burns, Chronicles of Hate follows an unlikely hero who rises to free the Earth Mother from her chains. This isn’t a world for the weak. All we know is Hate.
Chronicles of Hate, Collected Edition (Diamond code: OCT180056, ISBN: 978-1-5343-1144-2) hits comic book stores on Wednesday, December 5th and bookstores on Tuesday, December 11th.
