BlackBox joins Diamond’s FOC Program

Diamond Comic Distributors has announced that it has added BlackBox Comics to its Final Order Cutoff (FOC) Program beginning in March. The first title from BlackBox Comics to appear in the FOC Program will be Bio Mechs.

Written by Jay Sandlin and based on a story created by Sandlin and BlackBox publisher, Dimitrios ZaharakisBio Mechs features gorgeous art by Cleber Souza Lima and Fabio Da Silva Bandres with letters by Cynna Ael. After surviving for eons hidden away from the outside world, the peace on Mechis is shattered by the arrival of the insectoid Hive, who seek to enslave the Bio Mech inhabitants and conquer the planet. Described as Transformers meets Ultraman with a dash of Starship Troopers for good measure, this new series is well-timed to complement the current resurgence of Transformers and the growing appetite for a more traditional mech series. Issue 1 arrives in stores on April 24 with four exciting covers from some of Transformers’ finest.

FOC is an ordering program that provides retailer with extra time to adjust and finalize their product orders.

NYCC 2023: BlackBox Comics heads to the convention with two new titles and more!

After celebrating their sixth anniversary earlier this year, BlackBox Comics are hurtling into their seventh year with an exciting range of hot new titles and fresh announcements to coincide with their upcoming appearance at Booth #3764 for New York Comic Con from October 12-15th, 2023.

Leading the charge, the publisher is pleased to confirm that their growing range of titles are making the leap to the digital GlobalComix platform. This new avenue launches with nine complete BlackBox series, including recent hits such as Ninja Kaidan, Doctor Wilder, and Dream Master.

And their commitment to print remains strong. Since bursting onto the comics scene in 2017 with I.T., The Secret World of Modern Banking, BlackBox have continued to deliver exciting new creators and content on a monthly basis – and they’re ramping things up with their two latest releases, Empath and Dead Detective, which are currently solicited through the Diamond PREVIEWS catalogue.

Written by Brian Hawkins, with art by Debora Carita, Empath tells the story of Jace Emery, the estranged son of a wealthy family who finds himself in a chaotic city filled with vagabonds and wayward individuals. But as much as his family is in his past, his reasons for leaving them continue to drive his everyday choices, fueling both his desire to help others and his uncanny empathic ability to change things for the better. Issue #1 arrives in stores October 25th and there’s still time for retailers to up their initial orders.

Coming hot on its heels in November is Dead Detective #1, which traces the harrowing journey of Detective Danto and his partner Jim Falls. Jim discovers a portal to the afterlife 15 years after his partner, Rex’s death. The pair find themselves reunited in the underworld, where they must solve the mystery of a demonic cult and save their city from dark forces. Writer Bob Heyoka, and artist Fabio Lima Jansen, bring their A-game to this taut supernatural thriller.

If that wasn’t enough, the New York based publisher is bringing their wares to New York Comic Con, where they’ll be selling a host of special editions, back issues and variant covers that are no longer available at retail. Fans can find them at Booth #3764, and stay tuned for further announcements coming out of the show, which takes place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from October 12-15th.

Ninja Kaidan by Eric Palicki and Lucas Meyer is coming from BlackBox Comics

After bursting onto the comics scene in 2017, BlackBox Comics have continued to deliver exciting new creators and content on a monthly basis. Now, to coincide with their fifth anniversary, BlackBox is taking the next step in their evolution with the launch of a brand new ongoing series as they join Diamond Comics’ FOC (Final Order Cutoff) program.

Debuting in July, Ninja Kaidan, brings together the creative team of writer Eric Palicki, artist Lucas Meyer, colorist Michael Bartolo and letterer Dezi Sienty – under the watchful eye of BlackBox editor, publisher and creator, Dimitrios Zaharakis – to tell the story of Yuki Snow, an unlikely ninja who faces an even unlikelier foe… GHOSTS.

Not even a lifetime of martial arts training and years of military service can prepare Yuki for his latest, and perhaps greatest, challenge when he inherits Yokai Consolidated, his estranged father’s company. Yuki quickly becomes fascinated by his father’s pet project, the miraculous Kaidan armor, which allows its wearer to see, hear, and even touch ghosts! As he struggles to unravel the mystery of the armor and its purpose, Yuki finds himself facing foes, living and dead, who will stop at nothing to take it for themselves.

Ninja Kaidan is in May PREVIEWS, and the first issue arrives in store with three covers, including a variant drawn by industry legend Ron Frenz. Retailers can adjust and add to their initial orders when the title goes on FOC ahead of its July release.
