NYCC 2025: Post Malone will be in attendance for Big Rig!

Post Malone

Post Malone has officially announced that he will attend New York Comic Con with Vault Comics to celebrate his best-selling comic book series, Big Rig

Post will join the already announced Big Rig panel that will take place on Friday October 10th from 5:00pm to 6:00pm inside the Javitz Center in room 405. The panel will also feature Big Rig artist Nathan Gooden, Big Rig co-writer and Vault Editor-in-Chief Adrian Wassel, and Vault CEO and Publisher, Damian Wassel.  The panel will be full of surprises as it focuses on the past, present, and future of all things Big Rig, from inside the comic to its adaptations beyond.

Vault will have limited quantities of special deluxe hardcover editions of Big Rig for sale at the site, as well as some exceedingly rare Big Rig #1 convention exclusive single issue variant covers drawn by legendary artists such as Peach Momoko and Pete Carroll

Vault and Post Malone tease Big Rig, Book 2: Damned

Vault and Post Malone have teased the return of the Big Rig comic series in 2026 with Big Rig, Book 2: Damned. Vault have released a piece of teaser art by Nathan Gooden, hinting at what’s to come as the Rig’s journey continues.

In the next chapter of Big Rig, Trucker, Edda, and Batu have put Lucifer and the Princess of Hell in the rearview mirror, but the bloodshed is far from finished. Satan has sent a new general to lead his invasion. As Belphegor advances through Europe on a mission to raise Hell, the Rig chases, only to end up on a collision course with an unexpected enemy: invaders from the north capitalizing on the chaos. Now, it’s a war on two fronts. And what’s worse, both enemies possess weapons that make the Rig look less like the miracle our heroes need and more like a deathtrap. Will the vehicle keeping them alive be their doom? All depends on how well Trucker can drive.

Big Rig is written by Post Malone and Adrian Wassel, drawn by Nathan Gooden, colored by Eisner-nominee Der-Shing Helmer, lettered by Jim Campbell, and designed by Tim Daniel

Aethon Books has acquired a majority interest in Vault Comics

Aethon Books has announced that it has acquired a majority interest in Vault Comics. The two companies in 2023 announced a partnership to publish titles across the comic book and graphic novel and ebook and audiobook categories.

In the 2023 partnership, Aethon was to publish ebook and audiobook adaptations and tie-ins of titles from the Vault library, while Vault would publish comic book and graphic novel adaptations and tie-ins of titles from the Aethon library. Two subsequent announcements were made regarding actual products (catch that here and here). In 2020, Heavy Metal Entertainment and Aethon announced a similar partnership.

Vault will continue to be led by CEO, Damian Wassel, and CCO, Adrian Wassel. Aethon co-founders Rhett Bruno and Steve Beaulieu will join the board of Vault. Wassel confirmed that the deal does not affect current staffing at Vault and team members will continue in their roles.

Wassel also indicated that high profile investors in Vault including Jeff Ubben, UTA, Crush Ventures and Metallica’s investment arm Black Squirrel Partners remain invested in the merged company.

The terms of Aethon and Vault’s deal have not been disclosed.

Vault Comics Editor-In-Chief Says “Thank You” For a Great First Year

Vault Comics Editor-in-Chief, Adrian Wassel, issued a thank you statement to fans, retailers, and creators. Rounding out Vault Comics’ first year as a publisher, Wassel’s thank you statement sheds light on the company’s past, present, and exciting future:

Vault has been publishing comics for fifteen months. This March, at Emerald City Comic Con, we celebrated our one year anniversary with our very first panel, ‘New Blood: A Year in the Life of a New Publisher.’ Some wonderfully kind people showed up, but it was not a big crowd. (Thank you to everyone who did, and thank you especially to Katie Proctor, our intrepid moderator. Go support her store Books With Pictures the next time you’re in Portland, Oregon.)

If we hosted that same panel today, just two months later, we have a suspicion quite a few more folks would grab a chair, eager to hear about the most amazing and terrifying year of our lives. It’s no mystery why we have that suspicion. We’ve been on a run of some pretty incredible announcements. The kind of announcements about the kind of deals that loudly say: We are here to stay.

But our rapid growth has come with growing pains, and we want to acknowledge that. We want to acknowledge every reader, every creator, and every store that has stuck by us through release delays, through slow payments, through sometimes glacially slow communication as our small team scrambled around the office trying to keep up with deadlines. We want to thank everyone who ever had a reason to doubt us, but chose instead to give us a chance—to march beside us and boost us higher than we ever expected to reach in such a short time.

Thank you.

Here are some things few people know: When we began, Damian was finishing his doctorate at the University of Michigan. Adrian worked at a nearby ranch, helping with everything from clearing fence lines to doctoring calves. Tim worked full time at the University of Montana. Nathan drove for Uber. Kim ran her own design studio while raising her daughter (she still does both; she’s obviously the coolest).

Now we work together every day in an office with a big, encouraging Vault sign on the front window. We’ve moved from the necessarily touchy first year of a business into the even more defining second year with an exhilarating upsurge. We have many more milestones to clear. They are endless, actually, and that thrills us. We will always embrace the readers and creators that this industry has had among its ranks from day one, but has not regularly elevated, because you have embraced us—through thick and thin.

Here’s to fifteen more months, fifteen more years, fifteen more decades.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Adrian Wassel, Vault Comics Editor-in-Chief
