Join DC at Comic-Con 2025, where DC begins a decade-long celebration of comics, culminating in 100 years of publishing the World’s Greatest DC Super Heroes!

In 2025, DC enters the final decade of its first 100 years. With reverence for the past and an embrace of the future, DC plans to celebrate every era of its storied history annually in 10-year increments, starting at the beginning: 1935-1945. The 2025 DC Booth will feature art and experiences from this first decade of publication, where it all started. From Golden Age beginners to iconic legacies this nascent age was a time of unprecedented creation and saw the birth of not only DC, but of the comic book art form with DC’s New Fun #1, DC Super Heroes, and the DC Trinity: Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

Stop by the DC newsstand for a free 1940s-style Daily Planet newspaper, complete with classic DC Comics ads, pulled direct from DC’s comic book archives, that once promoted the heroes and adventures of their time! SDCC’s Daily Planet exclusive also delivers first looks at some of DC’s most anticipated titles releasing this year, as well as DC’s panel schedule and events offered during Comic-Con 2025.

His extensive experience and commitment to creating shows that serve as star vehicles for LatinX actors that also achieve mainstream success is second to none in the industry. Godzilla #1 has rich world-building, explosive action, and makes us want to experience more of the universe

Godzilla #1

In Godzilla #1, Tim Seeley, Nicola Cizmesija, and Francesco Segala craft an entire universe centered around kaiju and the energy they emit, namely, kai-sei. There are familiar elements from the Godzilla mythos like his emergence in 1954, a hilarious take on Jet Jaguar, and of course, some monsters to fight, punch, and interact them, but Seeley and Cizmesija mix them all together in a way that sustains an ongoing comic book series (With two spinoffs!) instead of just a one-shot or series of miniseries. This first issue introduces our protagonist Jacen Braid, the newest recruit of G-Force, who has big “fight and kill God” energy and a boatload of trauma. There’s definitely some big monster action, but most of what I liked about Godzilla #1 was the interactions between the different G-Force members and their distinct philosophies in handling kaiju.

Godzilla #1 hits the sweet spot between shonen manga and superhero team comics. There’s a true explosiveness to Nicola Cizemesija and Francesco Segala’s visuals, especially the conflicts that center around kai-sei. Speed lines crackle, facial expressions get more dramatic, and special effects lettering from Nathan Widick takes front and center when G-Force goes to war or just spars against one another. Seeley uses the extra length of the issue to build a rapport between the team and drop hints at this brave new world before introducing the series’ hook. Braid is definitely angsty, but he kicks ass. Also, his past trauma makes him easy to empathize with like in a small, touching sequence with his roommate. Finally, he has what I think the kids call “main character energy” as in he’s not a faceless soldier or scientist, but an actual foil for the kaiju.

Godzilla #1 has rich world-building, explosive action, and makes me want to experience more of the universe that IDW is creating featuring the King of Monsters and his monstrous and human friends and enemies.

Diamond Motions to Sell its Shares of Diamond UK

Diamond Comic Distributors

During the Chapter 11 proceeding of Diamond, a big question has been out there, the fate of Diamond UK. Today, Diamond submitted a motion to sell the shares of Diamond UK that Comic Exporters and Comic Holdings hold. Diamond UK was not part of the assets purchased by Universal Distribution and Sparkle Pop in the initial sale of assets during the proceeding. Diamond has been working to sell the rest of its assets.

Diamond UK is being sold for $2.1 million, with the motion calling it a “heavily-negotiated purchase price” with a $200,000 deposit made in good faith.

Revealed in the motion is that the purchaser is an entity formed by members of the UK-based management team of Diamond UK. None of Diamond’s officers or directors are part of the ownership group of the newly formed entity.

As part of the deal, JPMorgan Chase Bank would have to release Diamond UK from its obligations as a guarantor. The sale would be “free and clear of all encumbrances.”

As with everything in a bankruptcy, the sale must be approved. You can check out the motion, “sale order,” and “purchase agreement,” below. We’ll be going through all the docs more thoroughly, San Diego Comic-Con beckons right now.

SDCC 2025: Dark Horse and Absurd Ventures present American Caper from Dan Houser, Lazlow, David Lapham, Chris Anderson, Lee Loughridge, and Nate Piekos

Dark Horse Comics and Absurd Ventures present American Caper, a new crime fiction comic series created and written by Dan Houser, who was co-founder of Rockstar Games and longtime head writer and creative director of the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption series. American Caper boasts a murderer’s row of crime fiction and comics talent including fellow Grand Theft Auto veteran Lazlow, who is producing and contributing additional writing to the series. Illustrated by Eisner Award-winning artist David Lapham with finishes by Chris Anderson, colored by Lee Loughridge, and lettered by Nate Piekos, the American Caper saga is a brutal crime fiction satire set against the backdrop of our current, hopelessly fractured, preposterous political nightmare.

The first arc of American Caper is a 12-issue series set in Verona, Wyoming edited by former Vertigo/DC Comics Executive Editor, Shelly Bond and Dark Horse Comics’ Executive Editor, Daniel Chabon. Each issue of American Caper will feature main cover art by Tyler Boss and various variant cover artists. Issue #1 arrives in comic shops on November 12, 2025 and is now available to preorder for $4.99. Issue #1 will feature variants by Simon Bisley (who also created the original concept and character art for the series), Martin Simmonds, Joe Quinones, and Marguerite Sauvage

American Caper is a tale of two totally normal, completely damaged families in a world of corrupt business, inept politics, bungling crime, self-righteous justice, and problematic leisure wear. We follow the fortunes of two neighbors who are on the point of collapse: a Mormon hitman and a gambling addict lawyer, both intertwined in a real estate deal gone wrong. Added to the mix are a Mexican beauty queen on the run from her past, two escaped convicts in love, a Wall Street billionaire who has become a cowboy, and a maniac hell-bent on revenge.

From the tax avoiders in the manicured wilderness of Wyoming, to the thought police of Brooklyn, to the confused political battlegrounds of Florida, one thing is certain: this tragedy is someone else’s fault.

Dark Horse Comics and Absurd Ventures will unveil further details about American Caper at San Diego Comic Con, with a Sunday panel and scheduled weekend signings featuring Lazlow, David Lapham, Shelly Bond and more. The Dark Horse booth (#2615) will also be offering giveaways of American Caper ashcans, t-shirts and other limited-edition items in honor of the series announcement.
