NYCC 2026: Gallop Into Equestria: The Debut issue of BOOM! Studios’ My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic launches November 11, 2026

Come along for the ride as award-winning author Seanan McGuire and beloved My Little Pony artist Amy Mebberson lead fans to new stories from the heart of Equestria. 

When a Pinkie Pie prank turns into a birthday cake disaster, one of Twilight Sparkle’s beloved books is ruined in the chaos. The Mane Six must set out on a quest to find a new copy of the book that Twilight Sparkle believes might hold the key to learning how to fix broken friendships.

To celebrate the new series, BOOM! will bring the magic to New York Comic-Con with Kayou × BOOM! × My Little Pony NYCC Exclusive Cover Cards. Featuring unique art, these collectible cover cards will be available at the BOOM! And Kayou booth between October 8-11 in anticipation for the new series launch this November. 

This debut issue of the all-new My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series from BOOM! has been created with fans old and young alike in mind! So giddy-up, reader, as we return to the land of Equestria with a whole series of never-before-seen comic adventures for Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Rarity.

The series will launch November 11, 2026 with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #1. Releasing monthly, this five-issue run is available for preorder at your local comic shop. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including iBooks, Google Play, and Kindle.

The Baltimore Comic-Con has announced Taurin Clarke, Shawn Kuruneru, Tony Moore, Rob Retiano, Stephane Roux, Cory Smith, and Caitlin Yarsky as comics guests of the 2026 event. Taurin Clarke is a freelance illustrator based in Brooklyn, New York. He has been working predominantly in comics and editorial illustration since 2020

Currently, he is the main cover artist for Miles Morales: Spider-Man for Marvel Comics, but has noteworthy cover runs on titles as X-Men: Red, and Icon and Rocket for Milestone/DC. He has provided many covers for several publishers, including Dark Horse, Image, Skybound, and BOOM! Studios, as well as illustration work for brands such as Coca-Cola and Sideshow Collectibles.

While he is classically trained and prefers traditional media, he has learned to work digitally and is currently enjoying exploring a new creative process, working feverishly to find a solid marriage of classic illustrative techniques and graphic design elements.

…He sometimes gets confused and tries to double tap his sketchbook pages to erase, forgetting it’s not a tablet screen.

Shawn Kuruneru is a Canadian comic artist and writer. This year, his comic Cave Grave: Wild West Tales was published by Oni Press. He is the artist of The Goddamn Tragedy written by Chris Condon, Fishflies Chapter Six written by Jeff Lemire, and Colonel Weird and Little Andromeda written by Tate Brombal.

Colonel Tony Moore proudly hails from the commonwealth of Kentucky, and has been in the business since 1999, when he started work on his maiden voyage, Battle Pope. Since then, he has lent his hand to books such as Masters of the Universe and Brit, as well his creator-owned books Fear Agent and The Exterminators, and, most notably, the world-renowned series, The Walking Dead. Over the years, he has also gotten the opportunity to put his artistic stamp on some wild runs on Marvel’s Ghost Rider, Punisher, Venom, and Deadpool, and recently made his writing debut in the pages of EC’s Outlaw Showdown.

In recent years, he has worked some with amazing musicians such as Ryan Bingham, John R. Miller, JP Harris, The Winetree, Laid Back Country Picker, and Tyler Childers, providing poster art and album covers. He has also gotten to branch out, directing music videos for Tyler’s Country Squire and Laid Back’s Bela Lugosi’s Dead.

Rob Retiano is an all around artist with a love for comics and works in various creative avenues. Always working to achieve new milestones as a creative and artist, he has worked on various projects as the initial character designer and penciler of Junior High Horrors, as well as a cover artist for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Nightwatcher, Vampirella: Year One, Good Boy, Do You Pooh, Rise of Dracula, Reign of Dracula, Tragedy, Cos & Effect, Upper Deck, musicians, and more.

Stephane Roux is a accomplished artist with over 20 years experience working both in comics and animation.

As a cover and interior comic artist for DC, Marvel, and LucasArts, Stephane’s most notable work appears in acclaimed titles including Zatanna, Harley Quinn & Power Girl, Star Wars: Agent of the Empire, 5 Minute Star Wars Stories, Guardians of the Galaxy, Birds of Prey, Batman Confidential, Grace Randolph’s Supurbia, Vampirella, Sacred Six, and Bettie Page. He’s currently putting the finishing touches on his first creator-owned graphic novel, which is expected to published in 2026.

His animation work includes storyboards, character designs, and background art for studios like Disney, Saban International, and EuropaCorp.

Cory Smith is an American comic artist and illustrator who has worked on some of the industry’s biggest titles. Breaking into the business in the early 2010’s, Cory made his mark on cult-classic properties such as Magnus: Robot Fighter and IDW’s TMNT. Cory has continued to bolster his resume with work for most major publishers, though he is probably best known for his runs on various Marvel titles such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, Ghost Rider, X-Men, Star Wars, Conan, and Fantastic Four.

Most recently, Cory has drawn covers and interiors for notable titles such as Wolverine, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, Fantastic Four, and Amazing Spider-Man.

Caitlin Yarsky is an Eisner-nominated artist and writer with over a decade of experience working in comics. Her career began with an Image series called Coyotes, followed by Bliss. She drew 8 issues and 12 covers for Jeff Lemire and Dark Horse’s Black Hammer: Reborn and has drawn various one-shots, issues, and backups for DC (Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Shazam, Superman). She just finished drawing for Dark Horse series Magic the Gathering, Untold Stories: Jace, and Oni series Dead Teenagers. She wrote and drew a Dark Horse series called Living Hell. She is drawn to dark fantasy, science fiction, and 2D animation. 

Caitlin previously worked as an art director and artist for various game studios, including Valve, WayForward, and Workinman. She lives in the DMV, playing music and baking sourdough.

The Hero Initiative Charity Art Auction Returns to Baltimore Comic-Con 2026

The 27th anniversary Baltimore Comic-Con returns to the Inner Harbor’s Baltimore Convention Center on September 25-27, 2026! Baltimore Comic-Con has announced the return of the Hero Initiative art auction to the 27th Anniversary event! See the website for ticketing information, announced guests, cosplay events, gaming, and more!

On Saturday, September 26th at 5:00pm, the annual Hero Initiative auction will be taking place in Room 339-342. There will be more than 30 pieces of art going up for bid in this incredible event, most of them drawn for this auction. All art will be available to view at Booth #1704. Pre-registration will also be available at the booth, so please come by and ask any of the folks working there for more information.

Hero Initiative is a charity, one for which we should all be grateful and do everything we can to support their incredible effort. This organization helps your favorite comic creators in times of crisis, and even more importantly, they help many creators you’ve never even heard of when they are facing dire circumstances.

  • A vintage water color by Bloom County creator Berkeley Breathed featuring his most iconic character. A very rare offering. 13 x 13.5 inches.
  • Incredibly atmospheric vampire Batman drawing by Kelley Jones. 11 x 17 inches.
  • Gigantic Golden Age Superman painting by Sean McManus measuring a huge 20 x 32 inches
  • Batman and Man-Bat illustration by Kevin Nowlan who was inspired by his classic Man-Bat Secret Origins story to create what might have been that stories cover. 11 x 17 inches.
  • Spider-Man illustration by Mike Perkins. Just look at that background that Mike drew! 11 x 17 inches.
  • Sam and Max painting by Steve Purcell. Purcell doesn’t sell his art but created this incredible painting for this auction. 14 x 14.5 inches.
  • Watercolor reimagining of his All-Star Superman #1 cover by Frank Quitely. 11 x 17 inches.
  • Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo does battle with one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! 12 x 9 inches.
  • Inspired by his ongoing run on Batman and Robin Year One, Chris Samnee turned in this stunner! 9 x 12 inches.
  • Walter Simonson sent this massive battle piece featuring Thor and the Warriors Three doing battle with a huge monster. 30 x 22 inches!
  • Rick Veitch, fresh off his triumphant return to Swamp Thing, sent us this incredible illustration based on one of the most controversial story-lines in comics history! 11 x 17 inches.

The Baltimore Comic-Con returns for its 27th anniversary show at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore’s beautiful Inner Harbor this September 25-27, 2026. Tickets are available now for General Admission, VIP, and Fan Packages. Our Panel schedule is now set, and we’re excited to let you know what programming to look forward to at the show this year!

Programming kicks off on Friday with Absolute DC, looking at DC’s blockbuster comics line with panelists Scott Snyder, Jason Aaron, Pornsak Pichetshote, and Che Grayson, moderated by DC Editor in Chief Marie Javins! Then, test your knowledge with the Starman Trivia Challenge featuring writer James Robinson and artist Tony Harris, and find out what big art books are coming up from Act IIII Publishing. Also, we shine a spotlight on beloved comics couple Louise and Walter Simonson, and look at how four Bronze Age greats got started in comics in My Secret Origin: 1970s Edition. Plus, the Legal Geeks ask whether Spider-Man’s actions in his latest movie should land him in court! And aspiring artists can get their portfolios reviewed by Ignition Press Publisher Filip Sablik.

Things shift into high gear on Saturday as DC’s Chief Creative Officer and Publisher Jim Lee returns to Baltimore for a special spotlight panel! We celebrate the 60th anniverary of Star Trek with legendary writer David Gerrold (“The Trouble with Tribbles”), and hear from Image Comics co-founder and creator of The Savage Dragon, Erik Larsen. Learn who’s got the fastest marker in the Quick Draw Challenge with Amanda Conner and Mike Hawthorne. Come to the Ballroom for our Battlestar Galactica Revisited panel with stars Katee Sackhoff, Grace Park, and Aaron Douglas, followed by a Boondocks Voice Actors Reunion with Gary Anthony Williams and Cedric Yarbrough. The Baltimore Comic-Con returns to the Inner Harbor’s Baltimore Convention Center next week, September 25-27! The Baltimore Comic-Con has announced Iván Brandon, Nikkol Jelenic, David A. Rodriguez, Sozomaika, Wade Von Grawbadger, and Larry Welz as comics guests of the 2026 event. Get tickets online now rather than waiting in additional lines at the show!

Iván Brandon is a Cuban writer for television, film, animation, and video games. In comics, he is the co-creator of VS, Drifter, Viking, The Cross Bronx, and Black Cloud among others, and has written for every major publisher on characters from Batman to Wolverine. He lives in NYC with several ghosts.

Nikkol Jelenic is an American artist who has painted and penciled comic book covers and pages, music albums, and game design art.

Nikkol painted the cover art for Dynamite Entertainment’s Red Sonja vs. The Army Of Darkness series and is also a recent featured interior artist on the horror anthology The Haunted Box from Iron Age Comics as well as a frequent cover artist for Darby Pop Publishing’s Side-Kicked series.

After working for AfterShock Comics as a sequential artist for After Dark, she co-created a graphic novel titled Midnight Rose with Jim Starlin, also published by AfterShock. Jelenic will be teaming up with Starlin again, featured as a penciler on his legendary creator-owned title Dreadstar in an upcoming anthology for the eponymous character.

Jelenic has wrapped up her creator-owned title A Taste For Killing horror comic collection, taking place in the ACID i COMICS universe, with her killer clown tale “Chuckles Knuckles-Hook.”

Her past works include Red Sonja vs. The Army Of Darkness, The Uncanny X-Men 100 Project, A Taste For Killing, Midnight Rose, After Dark, Side-Kicked, The Haunted Box, The Women of Darby Pop, and various indie titles.

David A. Rodriguez is a 20-year veteran of the video game industry and is currently an Associate Narrative Director and writer at Blizzard Entertainment. He has published novels and graphic novels and is currently working on the critically acclaimed Diablo IV franchise. 

A native of South Chicago, he graduated with a B.F.A. in Musical Theater from Rockford University and continues his quest to add musical numbers to all his projects. Over his career, he has worked on the Transformers: War for Cybertron franchise and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, and written comics like M.A.S.K., Rising Sun, and Hasbro’s First Strike. He has also been lucky enough to combine his love of comics and games while writing for epic franchises such as Skylanders and Destiny 2. Most recently, David served as Narrative Lead on the Vessel of Hatred expansion for Diablo IV and launched a new creator-owned series, BattleMex – a superhero comic set in a world where Mexico was never colonized.

Sozomaika (appearing courtesy of Updog Comics) is a self-taught digital illustrator, concept artist, and 3D generalist currently based in LA. Maika is best known for her approach towards fashion design in her character illustrations. There is also a notable influence from noir, sploitation’ cinema, and eastern design elements in her work. So far, she has produced artworks for various companies including Under Armour, DC Comics, Wired, Image Comics, and Riot Games.

Embarking on his 30th year of creating comics, Harvey, Eisner, and Inkwell Award-winning artist Wade von Grawbadger is excited to be making his return appearance at Baltimore Comic-Con! Wade is primarily known for contributing ink art on such titles as Starman, Amazing Spider-Man, All-New X-Men, and Star Wars, but there has been so much more! Titles that came out in 2023 include Edge of the Spider-Verse 1 (featuring Spider-Rex) and Comics for Ukraine: Sunflower Seeds and New Talent Showcase: The Milestone Initiative 1 (helping new talent find their groove) among others! He hopes to see you there!

Metal Ninja Studios Has Big Plans for Baltimore Comic-Con 2026

The Baltimore Comic-Con is coming to the Inner Harbor’s Baltimore Convention Center September 25-27, 2026. Tickets are available online to purchase and avoid ticket counter lines!

For anyone who has ever walked through Artist Alley and thought, “I have a story I’d love to turn into a comic,” Metal Ninja Studios is bringing several ways to take that idea further at this year’s Baltimore Comic-Con. As the 2026 Artist Alley Sponsor, Metal Ninja Studios will anchor its largest Baltimore Comic-Con presence yet with an expanded 10’x20′ booth at the edge of Artist Alley.

Metal Ninja Studios is the creator-first production studio behind Concept to Comic, an end-to-end production system designed to guide creators through the complicated journey from an initial idea or script to a professionally finished, print-ready comic. Writing, editing, artwork, lettering, production, and project coordination are brought together through one guided process, allowing creators to focus on their stories while retaining ownership of their IP.

This year, Baltimore attendees will have an opportunity to experience that process themselves. The Concept to Comic Giveaway returns for 2026, co-sponsored by Metal Ninja Studios, Legends Publishing, and Baltimore Comic-Con, giving another aspiring creator the opportunity to have their story professionally developed into a comic.

And attendees won’t have to imagine where that opportunity can lead. Wren, winner of the 2025 Concept to Comic Giveaway, returns to Baltimore Comic-Con this year with a completed comic, including a special Baltimore Comic-Con exclusive cover. Fans will be able to see the finished result of the journey that this year’s winner will be beginning.

Creators who want to understand what goes into making a comic can also attend two MNS-hosted panels. “How to Make a Comic: The Questions You Didn’t Know to Ask” will cover practical considerations including budgeting, format, scripting, assembling a creative team, managing production, preparing for print, and avoiding common mistakes. “Becoming a Comic Creator: Five Stories from Idea to Debut” will feature six first-time creators representing five original projects, sharing the surprises, challenges, and lessons they encountered while bringing their own stories to life.

Attendees can see even more of that process at Metal Ninja Studios’ expanded 10’x20′ booth at the edge of Artist Alley. The space will feature a Concept to Comic showcase, completed projects, approximately five new comic debuts, comics available for purchase, the Baltimore Comic-Con exclusive Wren variant, and opportunities to meet creators during signings.

Metal Ninja Studios will extend its presence into Artist Alley through two additional satellite locations identified by Metal Ninja Studios table runners: SeerNova Comics, where attendees can meet MNS CMO and SeerNova co-owner Dillon Mysliwiec, and Lone Wolf Comics, featuring MNS Campaign & Community Lead Rob Multari.

In addition to serving as the Artist Alley Sponsor, Metal Ninja Studios is increasing its support of the Ringo Awards from Silver-level sponsorship in 2025 to Gold-level sponsorship in 2026.

Whether someone comes to Baltimore with a story they want to create, questions about how comics get made, or simply an interest in discovering new independent books and the creators behind them, this year’s Metal Ninja Studios presence gives them multiple ways to learn, connect, and get involved.

Terry Moore to Deliver 2026 Ringo Awards Keynote Address

The 2026 Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards will be presented at the Ringo Awards Banquet and Ceremony in conjunction with the 2026 Baltimore Comic-Con. The Banquet and Award Ceremony are a fun way to spend an evening, share a drink, and enjoy a meal with the comic book professional community. This is a unique opportunity to meet and network with industry creators, publishers, and professionals.

The Ringo Awards Committee has announced the addition of cartoonist and publisher Terry Moore to the 2026 Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards ceremony as the Keynote Address speaker!

Indy powerhouse Terry Moore began his career in comics with the critically acclaimed epic series, Strangers in Paradise, the compelling love story between three unlikely friends who find themselves bound together by their pasts. The long-running series garnered many awards, including the coveted Eisner Award for Best Serialized Story and the National Cartoonists Society Comic Book Division Reuben Award. Strangers in Paradise has been translated into twenty-one languages and is as popular today as when it was first published in 1993.

Moore has created many award winning series, including Motor Girl, the story of a wounded warrior and her imaginary best friend, Rachel Rising, a horror comic with a ten-year-old serial killer named Zoe, ECHO, a science fiction thriller, FIVE YEARS, the series that brings together characters from all of his series in one heart stopping story, and Parker Girls, the Tambi story you’ve been waiting for. Terry has also published a How to Draw book detailing techniques and tools to create comics which he updated and expanded in 2026.

Terry’s work has won numerous international awards and continues to entertain readers worldwide. In addition to publishing work under his own label, Abstract Studio, Moore has worked with major publishers on titles including Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane, Birds of Prey, Fables, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Star Wars Tales throughout his thirty three year career. Beginning in October 2026, Terry will team with Dark Horse Comics to reissue his catalog of legacy series.

Books! Animation! Cartoonists LIVE in person at Floating World Comics in October!

Dash Shaw and Jesse Moynihan come to Floating World on Saturday October 3, from 4-6 pm to celebrate the release of their new books! Then head to Clinton St. Theater for A Night of Animation with Jesse Moynihan and Dash Shaw at 7 pm. The pair will screen new material they’re working on and host a discussion about their various artistic projects.

In Forming, Jesse Moynihan takes 50,000 years of socio-religious postulation and throws it in the blender to create one epic—and irreverent—battle royale between alien gods, Ancient Greek Titans, interplanetary assassin droids, and humanity itself. Originally begun in 2009 and garnering hundreds of thousands of followers online, Jesse Moynihan’s acclaimed Magnum Opus was never completed — until now!

Like Swimmers opens during the Covid summer of 2020, when Richmond-based web designer Mackenzie wakes up to find her younger brother Howie dead in their apartment. An autopsy reveals a startling cause: Howie was killed by a silver bullet. With no help from a police force overwhelmed by protest and plague, Mackenzie turns sleuth and goes on the hunt for an answer to what she believes is a simple question: who murdered Howie? Dash Shaw, fresh off the acclaimed Blurry, delivers a fast-paced mystery in lush painted color that delves into loss, calamity, and whether we ever really know the people we love.

Jesse Moynihan worked as a writer/storyboard artist for the Cartoon Network show Adventure Time from late Season 1 until the end of Season 7. He helped create the characters Lemongrab, Ancient Psychic Tandem War Elephant, Maja the Sky Witch, and Jermaine to name a few. He was heavily involved in the story arcs pertaining to Magic Man, Tiffany, Lemongrab, Betty, Wizard City, Glob, and Finn’s grass arm. In 2014 he co-created the animated short, “Manly” for Cartoon Hangover’s YouTube channel. Currently, Jesse lives in Los Angeles recording music for his collaborative studio project Make A Rising and writing and drawing Forming—an eon-spanning epic work of modern mythology about the trajectory of consciousness on planet Earth, now completed and published by Seattle’s Fantagraphics.

Dash Shaw is a cartoonist and animator. His latest title, Like Swimmers from New York Review Comics, is a fast-paced mystery in lush painted color that delves into loss, calamity, and whether we ever really know the people we love. His previous graphic novel Blurry was named a “graphic novel of the year” by The New York Times, The Washington Post, Forbes and others. He’s also the cartoonist of Discipline, New School, Bottomless Belly Button, BodyWorld and others. He’s written and directed two animated features, most recently the 2021 film Cryptozoo, which won the Sundance Next Innovator Award. He currently lives in Richmond, Virginia.

Ignatz Award

During Small Press Expo (SPX) 2006, the winners of the 2026 Ignatz Awards were announced. The Ignatz are a celebration of outstanding achievement in comics and cartooning.

Ignatz Awards nominees are determined by a panel of comics professionals and then voted on any anybody on the SPX email list as well as anyone who requested a ballot.

The Ignatz Awards ceremony was held on Saturday night after the first day of SPX wound down.
