NYCC 2026: Wizards of the Coast reveals Magic: The Gathering | Marvel: Darkhold Destiny and more!

When Wizards of the Coast released their wide Marvel set for Magic: The Gathering, we noted a lack of mystical characters and guessed we’d be seeing a future release dedicated to them. A game featuring wizards without Marvel’s mystical side of its universe seemed a bit odd. Well, our prediction is now a reality as Wizards of the Coast and Marvel have revealed Magic: The Gathering | Marvel: Darkhold Destiny. In collaboration with Marvel, Marvel: Darkhold Destiny is the first Universes Beyond set created around an original story and setting. The panel also unveiled additional Marvel collaborations coming in 2026 including the Secret Lair Countdown Kit: Marvel’s History of Heroes and Doomsdrop.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING | MARVEL: DARKHOLD DESTINY

The mystical, the mythical, and the mighty come together in Magic: The Gathering | Marvel: Darkhold Destiny. For the first time ever, the teams at Marvel and Magic collaborated to create a brand-new storyline set in the Marvel Universe. This is a new kind of Universes Beyond set. By taking the core elements players love about Magic: The Gathering, the team thoughtfully and strategically expressed those design intentions through the Marvel Universe. The narrative unfolds across nearly 30 dimensions and is centered around four main characters—Doctor Strange, Thor, Hela, and Dormammu. Additionally, a new comic book will be released that showcases this groundbreaking new story. The comic’s first chapter releases digitally and the physical edition releases the week of Darkhold Destiny’s launch, on April 7, 2027.

SECRET LAIR COUNTDOWN KIT: MARVEL’S HISTORY OF HEROES

Celebrate some of the greatest heroes of all time with the Secret Lair Countdown Kit: Marvel’s History of Heroes—a collection of 30 cards that bring the storied past of Marvel to life—available only on Secret Lair starting November 2.

The release features illustrations crafted by over 30 artists celebrating iconic moments from Marvel’s comic history—from the transformation of the Fantastic Four in space via cosmic rays, to the first appearance of Iron Man with Ho Yinsen, to Jean Grey’s transformation into the fiery Phoenix.

NYCC 2026: Blumhouse announces the Director for Something is Killing the Children

As announced by Blumhouse during their panel on Friday, October 9 at New York Comic Con, Craig Zobel set to direct the upcoming live-action Something is Killing the Children film. Zobel has directed episodes of The Penguin, American Gods, Outcast, and more, so familiar with not just horror but also adapting comics to live-action.

Something is Killing the Children is the acclaimed horror comic series created by New York Times-bestselling author James Tynion IV and Eisner Award-winning artist Werther Dell’Edera. When children begin to go missing in the town of Archer’s Peak, all hope seems lost until a mysterious woman arrives to reveal the terrifying creatures behind the chaos. She alone will destroy them, no matter the cost.

Marvel Comics’ Editor-in-Chief Stephen Wacker took the stage at New York Comic Con to host his first-ever Bullpen Bulletins! panel and seized the moment to reveal what’s next for one of Marvel’s greatest heroes—and one of his personal favorites: CAPTAIN MARVEL! This May, the iconic hero headlines an all-new ongoing series in May by award-winning writer G. Willow Wilson and acclaimed artist Rachael Stott.

The series spins out of the upcoming Avengers run by Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto. Following the cataclysmic events of Avengers: Armageddon, Carol Danvers finds herself grounded like never before. To rise again, Carol will have to challenge everything she thought she knew about being Captain Marvel—and break every rule along the way. Wizards of the Coast reveals more D&D | Star Wars Details

At Gen Con 2026, Wizards of the Coast revealed it was going Universes Beyond with Dungeons & Dragons taking it to a universe far, far away with D&D | Star Wars. At New York Comic Con 2026, Dungeons & Dragons revealed new details about its previously-announced collaboration with Lucasfilm and Star Wars. Two books, D&D | Star Wars Core Rules, and D&D | Star Wars, Tyro Squadron: Adventures are warping into the galaxy in 2027. Select artwork, including the cover of D&D | Star Wars, Tyro Squadron: Adventures, was also unveiled during the Disney/Lucasfilm publishing panel at the convention.

In D&D | Star Wars, Tyro Squadron: Adventures, take the fight to the Empire as part of a secret Rebel crew. Set during the Original Trilogy, these new stories unfold as Luke and Leia fight their own battles across the galaxy. Fly daring missions, explore new corners of the galaxy, and help shape the Rebellion’s story—your way. 

Additional details about D&D | Star Wars, Core Rules will be revealed later, and fans can also look forward to a star fighter encounter at Star Wars Celebration in April 2027.

NYCC 2026: Blumhouse partners with IDW Publishing for new IDW Dark comics

Blumhouse is partnering with IDW Publishing to bring even more spine-tingling terror to the comic book horror imprint IDW Dark.

Happy Death Day was written by Scott Lobdell known for writing numerous comics for Marvel, DC, and more. He generally has left the comic industry and was embroiled in controversy for past behavior and comments. Lobdell wrote the original film script though not its sequel Happy Death Day 2U.

NYCC 2026: Marvel Studios teases Zodiac and More Marvel Zombies

New York Comic Con isn’t usually known for movie and television announcements from Marvel but Marvel Studios dropped some fun reveals of what’s coming in the next years.

Zodiac will be coming to Disney+ in 2028. While there’s not a ton known about it, the show clearly has something to do with SHIELD based on the logo. In the comics, Zodiac was a criminal cartel featuring Nick Fury’s brother as a member. The show is described as a “spy thriller.”

Marvel Zombies returns with three new releases in 2027, 2028, 2029. Coming soon are Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier, Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu, and Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian, all being released for Halloween.

NYCC 2026: Michael E. Uslan, Steven S. DeKnight and Sebastián Cabrol Present Dr. Syn #1 – A Fiery, Blood-Soaked Tale of Revolution & Rebellion

Oni Press has unveiled Dr. Syn #1 (of 4), the fiery FIRST ISSUE of a rebellious new resurrection for the infamous vigilante-turned-freedom fighter … and a brand-new beginning for one of history’s first proto-pulp heroes in a daring new incarnation. Across more than a century, Dr. Syn has been a recurring fixture of feature film, pulp fiction, and comics book publishing. Always clad in his trademark Scarecrow mask, Syn was first introduced in 1915 by author Russell Thorndike as the titular smuggler hero at the epicenter of Doctor Syn: A Tale of the Romney Marsh. As his adventures continued across six more novels, Syn’s exploits were the subject of multiple film adaptations from the 1930s onward, culminating in 1963’s Disney feature film The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh, which also resulted in a tie-in comic book series published by Dell Comics. Uslan, DeKnight and Cabrol’s new reinvention of the character will be the first major appearance of the character – frequently counted alongside Tarzan, Conan, and Buck Rogers as one of the first and most influential proto-pulp archetypes – in the 21st century and will mark the first time the legendary British character has walked American shores.

NYCC 2026: Joseph Illidge Announces Signing with Zeno Robinson and Illuminous Event Sponsorship

Comics writer and editor Joseph Illidge heads to New York Comic Con 2026 (October 8-11) at the Javits Center in New York City, celebrating comic-shop culture through his latest writing and Illuminous’ support for the Black comics community and beyond. 

On Saturday, October 10, from 5-6 p.m. at Booth #4355, Illidge will join actor Zeno Robinson to sign The Comic Shop Anthology: A Hit TV Show Tie-in, Kat Calamia and Phil Falco’s comic book adaptation of the YouTube series created by Cheyenne Ewulu. Featuring a story written by Illidge, the collection gives fans another way into the world of The Comic Shop.

Published by Lifeline Comics, The Comic Shop Anthology brings the web comedy about a quirky crew doing anything to save their store to the page. Illidge teams with artist Paris Alleyne (Black Panther) on Ratz City, channeling the show’s irreverent humor into a story packed with social commentary and high-energy action. The collection also features Cody Ziglar, Stephanie Williams, DJ Kirkland, and more, celebrating the chaos and camaraderie of comic-shop culture.

Illuminous will also co-sponsor Black Comic Lords’ Lords Lounge at Luma Studios, 307 West 38th Street, October 8-10, beginning at 6 p.m. each evening. NYCC 2026: AC Pop Comics reveals an exclusive Something Is Killing the Children #50 Blind Bag

AC Pop Comics is heading to New York Comic Con 2026 with an exclusive Something Is Killing the Children #50 Blind Bags. Limited to 4,000 bags, each features 3 unique books per bag. Each blind bag retails for $60.

AC Pop Comics’ blind bags feature six covers by Kael Ngu, Federico Mele, Bjorn Barends, John Giang, Ejikure, and Stephen Segovia, each in three variations.

Signings: Mele, Barends, Giang, and Segovia will be attending NYCC, so fans can get their books signed right out of the bag. AC Pop Comics will have artists stopping by our booth, #4541, to sign pulls.

Chase variants include:

Giang glow-in-the-dark, limited to 250
Segovia black, white, and red spot foil, limited to 300
Mele bloody spot foil, limited to 350
