Five Nights at Freddy’s repeats in first as the top 3 weekend box office remains unchanged
The year of Barbie and video game based movies continues. Five Nights at Freddy’s, based on the popular video game property, repeated in first place at the weekend box office. That’s impressive considering it was a 75.8% drop from the previous weekend. The film added $19.4 million domestically to bring its total to $113.6 million after two weeks. Internationally, the film added $50.9 million over the week to bring that to $103.5 million. In two weeks the film has grossed an impressive $217.1 million at the box office while also streaming.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour held on to second place. The film came in second for the weekend with an estimated $13.5 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $166 million so far. Internationally, the film still lags (does Swift not have much of an international following?). Over the week, the concert film grossed $11.4 million to bring its total to $65.1 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed a little over $231.1 million.
Killers of the Flower Moon came in third third in its third week with an estimated $7 million. The movie has now grossed $52.3 million. Over the week, the film grossed $22.8 million internationally to bring that total to $66.8 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $119.1 million.
Priscilla got a wider release jumping into fourth place. The film grossed $5.1 million to bring its domestic total to $5.3 million. There’s no international gross.
Rounding out the top five was Radical which debuted with $2.7 million. Internationally, the film grossed $5.1 million and worldwide the film has grossed $7.8 million.
In comic film news…
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem held steady domestically at $118.6 million. Internationally, the movie remained at $61.9 million. Worldwide, the movie has brought in $180.5 million.
Blue Beetle domestically added about $88,000 to its total over the week to bring that to $72.5 million. Internationally it remained steady at $56.8 million. The movie has grossed $129.3 million worldwide.
Shortcomings, based on the graphic novel by Adrian Tomine remained steady domestically at $675,257 and internationally it remained at at $10,769. Worldwide, the film has grossed $686,026.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse looks like it remained steady domestically at $381.3 million. Internationally, the film gained about $500,000 and is now at $309.2 million. Worldwide, the move has grossed $690.5 million.
The week’s overall box office success…
Numbers have 60 films earning $63,084,300 from 34,926 theaters. That’s about a 50% decrease from last weekend’s $126,139,974 from 33,380 theaters and 63 films. The average earning was $1,806.23 this past weekend, about 50% worse from the previous weekend’s $3,778.91.
