Dark Horse continues to shed properties as it has been revealed today that the Alien, Predator, and Alien vs. Predator franchises have a new home for comics with Marvel. The leading comic publisher has been leaning more heavily into outside properties beginning with Star Wars, Conan, then a partnership with Games Workshop, and now Alien and Predator. The new comic series will feature new and classic characters from Earth and beyond to explore never-before-seen corners of both the Alien and Predator universes starting in 2021. The deal includes “comics,” “collections,” and “reprints.”

It should be noted that Star Wars, Alien, and Predator are all properties under Marvel’s parent company Disney. Disney acquired Alien and Predator when they purchased 20th Century Fox. Conan and Star Wars also have a long history of being published by Marvel previously. Star Wars, Conan, Alien, and Predator comics had all been published by Dark Horse before moving to Marvel. Dark Horse also lost the Buffy the Vampire property in 2018 to BOOM!.

While creative teams and titles haven’t been announced, two teaser images by David Finch have been released. Expect more news at the virtual San Diego Comic-Con later this month.
