Review: I, Mage #4
Welcome to the kingdom of Daravon, seat of the three deadliest traps in the known world. While Skirnir puts Zawa to test in order to retrieve a powerful weapon of legacy, Kai seeks to mend L’derOne. Along the way Kai comes to learn this safe-haven proves to be anything but.
Humor, fantasy, with a little dash of sci-fi manages to be woven through each issue of this family friendly series. Yet writer Gary Turner manages to make each issue polished, entertaining, and highly enjoyable. Nothing is as it seems, and soon Kai, Skirnir, and Zawa realize that in their own way.
Like the previous three issues artist Mel Bontrager manages to follow Gary Turner’s lead managing to bolster the fantasy/sci-fi elements with polished scenes of action. This issue briefly adds more colorful and contrasting panels on the character’s journey to Daravon. The issue also showcases some of the more simpler moments the characters have in their adventures.
