Kung Fu Panda 3 Stays on Top of the Box Office
Kung Fu Panda 3 was the top of the box office for the second weekend in a row beating three new films that opened up. The film earned an estimated $21 million to bring its domestic total to $69.1 million. The film has earned $198.1 million worldwide so far after about two weeks.
Three new films didn’t light up the box office. Hail, Caeser! came in second with an estimated $11.4 million. The film has earned mixed reviews, but there’s a fan base for Coen brothers films so it should get above its budget of $22 million. The Choice debuted in fifth earning an estimated $6.1 million, and just behind that in sixth was Pride and Prejudice and Zombies which earned an estimated $5.2 million.
The Revenant dropped to third place from last weekend’s second. It earned $7.1 million to bring its domestic total to $149.7 million. In fourth was Star Wars: The Force Awakens which earned $6.89 million.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens currently has earned $905.96 million domestically and $1.1 billion in foreign markets. Its total stands at $2.008 billion. The film still sits in third in worldwide grosses and is about $178 million short of passing Titanic to move in to second. It has a long way to go to top Avatar to move in first. It’d need $780 million to get to that spot.
