British actor Henry Cavill has been cast in Zack Snyder‘s Superman reboot for Warner Bros.  Cavill is best known for The Tudors, Stardust and has an upcoming film Immortals.  In a statement Snyder said “In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen.” He added that Cavill was “the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.”

Cavill was an actor looking for a franchise it seems and he’s finally got one.  He was up for the role of Batman in Christopher Nolan’s reboot, losing out to Christian Bale.  He was also in consideration for the reboot of the James Bond franchise, which went to Daniel Craig.

I’m not raising my expectations too high, as I thought the most recent Superman reboot was atrocious.
