Mouse Guard - Legends of the Guard #3 CoverMouse Guard: Legends of the Guard #3 is such a great comic, perfect for kids and adults alike.

The June Alley Inn, located in the western mouse city of Barkstone, is lively tonight—a throng of mice are excitedly spinning fantastic yarns in a storytelling contest! The tall tales in this issue include: a mouse raised by foxes must come to terms with what he really is; a mouse artist is taught a lesson after a critic is motivated by one of his owl paintings; a Guardmouse employs an unusual method to protect a town from a flood; and, in a tribute to Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven,” a mouse is tortured by the loss of his love. LEGENDS OF THE GUARD is a continuing anthology series with artists and storytellers handpicked by creator David Petersen. Featured in this issue are tales by Guy Davis (B.P.R.D.), Katie Cook (FRAGGLE ROCK), Nate Pride (LIBRARY OF WONDER: JULES VERNE) and Jason Shawn Alexander (QUEEN & COUNTRY).

It’s hard to review this comic because the stories and art vary so much, but this is just a great comic.  All of them have been.  The stories are entertaining.  There’s often lessons in them.  The art is fantastic.  This is just a great package that I’d feel proud to share with my family.

A great read and one you’ll want to share.  A definite buy.

Plot: There’s numerous writers on this and all of the stories are entertaining and varied.  There’s even a take on Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven.  The stories vary from cute to some good action, but all are fun to read.  This is just a great read and one I’d be happy to hand off to a kid.  Rating: 9

Art: The art is also prefect to look at especially scenes taking place in the bar.  Just a beautiful book to look at.  Rating: 9

Overall: Um, how do we recommend this enough?  If you don’t buy it for you, then get it for a kid (even if they’re random).  It’s a great read.  Overall rating: 9

Recommendation: Buy
