Titan Comics Reveals Norman: The First Slash!

Titan Comics has revealed Norman: The First Slash #1 – a newly released series written and illustrated by visionary creator Stan Silas.

Norman: The First Slash reveals the origin of the kid killer and unveils even more of his dark secrets.

The series is newly released for the US singles format with some amazing covers from top industry talents like Marc Ellerby (Doctor Who), JAKe (How to Speak Wookiee), Rachael Smith (House Party, Doctor Who), Sonia Leong (I, Hero) and Amoona Saohin.

The razor-sharp tale of Norman’s origins! A member of the class has disappeared, and Norman is to blame! This bloodthirsty kid’s penchant for killing knows no bounds! With his classmates also out for blood, maybe he should just rid himself of them all, one by one…

Review: Norman #2

Norman_#2_Cover_AIt’s not so easy being Grace – cast out among misfits, toppled from her position as the ultimate Queen Bee, and now forced to consider that maybe she’s got more in common with Norman than she thought.

Maybe, just maybe, she’s a horrifying monster who has no place in civilized society?

While not as gruesome as the first issue, Norman #2 as a mini pseudo South Park Slasher is still funny. The issue manages to reveal some of Grace’s odd “monstrous,” backstory along with the hilariously disgusting results of Bader’s death.  The results of all of that together may seem a little familiar to fans of The Simpsons Halloween Special.

Despite the simple art, Stan Silas handles the art and writing, it manages to bolster the humor of the story. I will admit the Grace flashback was unexpected and leaves me curious to know a few things. Hopefully her “monstrous,” form makes an appearance in coming issues.

For Norman, his one wish for Christmas is the longed for hockey mask that will truly complete his “look” – the perfect serial killer. Sadly, he didn’t know about Santa’s Naughty list. As a murderer-in-training, will Santa be coming down the chimney for him? And, besides, what does “good” really mean, anyway?

Review: Norman #1

Norman_1_Cover_A Roman DirgeNorman is a blue-eyed, blond-haired psychopath. He’s also a little kid. And he really likes to kill people. Queen Bee of the Schoolyard, Grace, seems to have a knack for it, too. But she’s nothing like Norman! He’s a sicko. Grace is just… enacting a little vengeance. That’s all.

Norman is basically a serial killer version of South Park, with a dash of occult thrown in to sweeten the pot. Don’t let the cover fool you into thinking this is a kid friendly comic, it isn’t. This first issue written by Stan Silas follows the strange path of Norman, and his imp as they try to recruit a fellow a young killer Grace into their fold.

I will admit the semi-cartoon art style by Silas manages to fit in surprisingly well into this strange tale. While I imagine more violent scenes are to come in later issues, the violence is less cartoony and more humorous than one would expect. Silas ability to add in a depressing environment of the orphanage despite the bright lights is brilliant.
