Evil Dead 2: Revenge of Hitler #1 Gets a Second Printing

Space Goat has announced that Evil Dead 2: Revenge of Hitler #1 will be getting a second printing. The comic written by Ian Edginton, with art by Oscar Bazaldua, Carlos Eduardo, and Chris Summers was so popular the comic publisher is expanding its line of Evil Dead 2 comics.

Everybody’s favorite badass is back. Oh, and Hitler too. The Evil Dead 2 Universe expands with the first in a series of “REVENGE” one-shots. Adolf Hitler had the Book of the Dead tattooed onto his body so that he could live forever, except it didn’t quite work out that way. After he died in Berlin in 1945, it took someone to actually read the tattoo to reanimate him. Now he’s back in the present day, and the Hellish Powers are forced to recruit Ash to put an end to his reign of terror before history repeats with a new undead army.

The comic will return to shelves in May 2016.

Space Goat’s Evil Dead 2 Universe Expands!

If you missed Hitler in March, don’t worry! He’s coming back in May!

Space Goat‘s Evil Dead 2 titles have successfully struck a horror nerve, according to Space Goat CEO Shon Bury. The company’s first “Revenge Of” one-shot, Evil Dead 2: Revenge Of Hitler by Ian Edginton, Larry Watts, and Chris Summers is sold out from the publisher and going back for a second printing.

Spurred by the strong initial orders and reorder activity on their initial title, Space Goat is expanding their “Revenge Of” titles pitting Ash against other classic horrors. The company has signed critically-acclaimed writers Scott Peterson, Ian Edginton, Georgia Ball, and Ty Templeton to handle the new Evil Dead 2 one-shots.

And they’re bringing with them tales of Martians, Vampires, Jack the Ripper, and Krampus for their 2016 titles.

The titles are meant to have a little fun with a property that’s already meant to be fun.

Veteran DC writer and editor Scott Peterson will tackle Evil Dead 2: Revenge of Dracula this July. In the announcement release, Peterson said:

Ash and Dracula have to team-up to fight an even greater evil. But should you really bring a vampire to a demon fight?”

The one-shot will be illustrated by Yvel Guichet and Horacio Domingues. A variant cover by legendary Batman artist Kelley Jones will be offered as well.

Georgia Ball, who’s currently writing two graphic novels for Scholastic, will script Evil Dead 2: Revenge of Jack The Ripper. Ball said:

Ripper is the quintessential bad guy. He’s one of the original unsolved mysteries. That makes him a natural to go up against Ash and the Deadites with the Kandarian dagger as his weapon of choice.

Ty Templeton will revive H.G. Wells’ classic Martians from The War of the Worlds. Templeton said in the release:

Deadites are reanimating the preserved bodies of the original Martians. The Earth is looking at a second War of the Worlds, unless Ash can stop them, and it won’t be with the old cold-and-flu virus this time.

Templeton has previously worked on a round of EC-style variant covers for Space Goat’s Evil Dead 2: Cradle of the Damned series earlier this year.

Rounding out the first quintet of Revenge titles is Ian Edginton’s ode to holiday joy, Evil Dead 2: Revenge of Krampus.

The second printing of Evil Dead 2: Revenge of Hitler by Edginton, Larry Watts, and Chris Summers will ship in May. Evil Dead 2: Revenge of Dracula will ship in July. Shipping dates and artists for the other Revenge Of titles will be announced shortly.

Be on the lookout for these titles this Summer and Fall!

May – Revenge of Hitler REPRINT

July – Revenge of Dracula by Scott Person

September – Revenge of the Martians by Ty Templeton

October – Revenge of Jack the Ripper by Georgia Ball

November – Revenge of Krampus by Ian Edginton

Monster Elementary Heads to Space Goat and Debuts Free Comic Book Day

Monster-Elementary-LogoThe new kids on the block? They’re monsters.

Monster Elementary, the all-ages comic, was not only a twice-funded Kickstarter project, but also the winner of the 2015 Gold Medal for Best Humor Graphic Novel at the Independent Publisher Book Awards. Space Goat Publishing has announced they have signed the comic for publishing with a formal launch this summer.

Written and created by Nicholas Doan, and edited by Gwendolyn Dreyer, Monster Elementary is an all-ages adventure featuring classic horror movie archetypes–the Vampire, the Werewolf, Frankenstein’s Monster, the Mummy, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon–reimagined as elementary school students. But rule #1: Don’t eat the other students no matter how tasty they might be. And rule #2: Avoid Vanessa Elle Sing, their classmate who is also a monster hunter out to expose the new kids.

Monster Elementary is a series of short stories, all written by Doan and illustrated by a team of rotating artists, including Caanan Grall, Christopher Tupa, Josh Gowdy, Cal Moray, Patty Variboa, Lee-Roy Lahey, Bobby Timony, and Daniele Serra.

The monsters’ adventures and experiences hiding their identities and growing up are the focal point of the stories. Desmodus, Lukos, Francesca, Rags, and Gilda are monsters, but they’re also kids dealing with real-life issues that every kid faces: bullying, homework, and being hunted down by a classmate with a wooden stake.

The project was such a success that the Kickstarter edition of Monster Elementary is currently sold out. Doan and Dreyer’s desire to bring Monster Elementary to even more people led them to Space Goat.

Monster Elementary‘s first Space Goat appearance will be in an 8-page story in Space Goat’s all-ages Free Comic Book Day anthology, Dark Lily & Friends. The FCBD book will be released on May 7, 2016. In June, Space Goat will launch an introductory one-shot, Monster Elementary: First Semester, followed by an all-new edition of the first Monster Elementary trade in time for the 2016 San Diego Comic Con.
