TKO’s Second Wave of Comics is Now Available
TKO Studios burst upon the comic book scene last December with a bold new strategy to binge-release entire miniseries in both collectors box sets and trade paperbacks. Their first wave of books included series by some of comics’ best writers and artists.
TKO has released their second wave of books. The titles include:
SENTIENT
Written by Jeff Lemire (Black Hammer) and drawn by Gabriel Walta (The Vision)
When a separatist attack kills every adult on board a colony ship in deep space, it is up to VALERIE, the on-board A.I., to help the ship’s children survive. But as they are pursued by dangerous forces, can Valerie become more than what she was programmed to be — a savior to these children?
THE BANKS
Written by Roxane Gay (Black Panther: World of Wakanda), drawn by Ming Doyle (The Kitchen), and colored by Jordie Bellaire (Redlands)
Chicago, Southside. For fifty years the women of the Banks family have been the most successful thieves in the city by following one simple rule: Get in. Get away. Get paid. Never get greedy.
POUND FOR POUND
Written by Natalie Chaidez (Queen of the South), drawn by Andy Belanger (Southern Cross), and Daniela Miwa (The Fearsome Doctor Fang)
MMA fighter Dani Libra fears nothing… except for her recurring blackouts and fractured memories that obscure a bloody past. When her sister is kidnapped, Dani must shine a light on the darkness in her own mind. But can she keep her own demons at bay for long enough to save her sister?
EVE OF EXTINCTION
Written by Sal and Steven Simeone, drawn by Nik Virella (Deadpool) and Isaac Goodhart (Under the Moon: A Catwoman Tale), and Ruth Redmond (Amazing Spider-Man)
The rain brought something. Something that changed the men. In order to reach their stranded daughter, two mothers must survive the hurricane, and the horrors it unleashed. But can they work together long enough to save their daughter in a world where all men have become monsters?
Each first issue of every mini-series is free to read at TKOpresents.com.

Black Panther: World of Wakanda has won the GLAAD Media Award for comic books. It was one of ten nominees in the comic category for the 29th annual award. Two other Marvel books, America and Iceman, were also nominated.
It’s new comic book day! What has everyone excited? What do you plan on getting? Sound off in the comments below! While you wait for shops to open, here’s some comic news and reviews from around the web.
It’s going down! Roxane Gay brings pure fire in yet another amazing issue of Black Panther: World of Wakanda. There are Midnight Angels gone rogue, Dora Milaje taking it to the streets and cleaning house all Wakanda and, Folami acting most foul in her attempt to quench her blood lust. Everything about this issue from cover to cover is amazing and I can’t wait until the next issue. There’s so much richness, culture, and purity in this story that you feel attached to the characters. Even the villainess Folami is relatable, you still want her caught and dealt with but, you feel for her. Gay’s amazing writing gives an emotional depth and a realism to every character that she brings to life on the pages of this issue and I am here for it.

Logan: Kate Leth, Brittney Williams, Megan Wilson, and Rachelle Rosenberg’s Hellcat has been a joyful celebration of superheroes, young people, and queerness. I will miss its humor, chibi style art, and especially my bi bae Ian Soo when it ends in a couple months.

Folami is running on a body full of nanites. Let that sink in. Folami is so hell bent on vengeance that she let a stranger pump her full of nanites so she could be even more of an asskicker. If that doesn’t tell you that you’re going to need some popcorn to get through this issue, nothing will.

Author, professor, editor Roxane Gay has announced that she is pulling her next book from Simon & Schuster in response to the publisher’s decision to publish a book by alt-right leader/figurehead Milo Yiannopoulos.
