Scott Snyder and Francesco Francavilla’s White Boat receives New Vinyl Soundtrack from Noel Heroux

DSTLRY has announced an addition to the White Boat universe. This Summer, the chilling series crafted by Scott Snyder and Francesco Francavilla will be enhanced by an atmospheric soundtrack from Noel Heroux, the New York-based indie rock powerhouse behind Hooray for Earth and Mass Gothic.

The first outing of this sprawling accompaniment sets sail in a premium 7-inch vinyl, signed by Heroux, Snyder, and Francavilla available via your local comic shop. This 7-inch release marks a first-of-its-kind venture for DSTLRY, blending the immersive worlds of comics and music.

Crafting an “oceanic noise terror soundtrack,” Heroux’s work captures the essence of White Boat, providing fans with a multi-sensory experience that elevates the tale’s Lovecraftian maritime horror. The soundtrack, debuting first in a premium 7-inch vinyl format, offers a unique collectible for fans. Each limited-edition vinyl is signed by Heroux, Snyder, and Francavilla, making it a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Debuting this May, White Boat revolves around a titular mega-yacht that the super-rich use to traverse the globe—floating islands where your every desire can be fulfilled. And getting invited on board should be a dream come true…that is until the crew traps and transports you to a remote island where secret cults have existed for millennia, working on something called “The Human Project.” Does the White Boat ship you to paradise or sink you into hell on earth?

White Boat reunites Scott Snyder with Francesco Francavilla for a white-knuckle descent into Lovecraftian maritime madness. DSTLRY Founding Editor and frequent Snyder collaborator Will Dennis joins as editor. Noel Heroux brings his musical expertise to the White Boat project.

Fans are encouraged to contact their local comic shops to secure their copy of the 7-inch White Boat Vinyl, signed by the creative trio behind this innovative project. This release not only celebrates the launch of the White Boat comic series but also marks a significant moment in the fusion of comic book storytelling and musical exploration. Issue #1 of White Boat hits stores this May with the 7-inch releasing in June.

Crowdfunding Corner: Oni Press Presents ODB: Oddities, Discord, & B-Sides – Lyrical Ruckus in the City

Backer Beware: Crowdfunding projects are not guaranteed to be delivered and/or delivered when promised. We always recommend to do your research before backing.

Oni Press presents ODB: Oddities, Discord, & B-Sides – Lyrical Ruckus in the City – a volatile, genre-defying homage to hip-hop icon Ol’ Dirty Bastard that reimagines New York City’s Five Boroughs through the eyes of the maverick MC and Wu-Tang Clan co-founder.

Experience the chaotic harmony of ODB’s art and legacy in an all-new, 112-page graphic anthology that explores the legendary artist’s many identities through the prisms of hand-to-hand kung-fu combat, dystopian science fiction, darkness-haunted horror, and lovelorn romance as presented by an all-star cast of creative talents…alongside exclusive limited-run action figures, 7″ vinyl, and merchandise manufactured in collaboration with Super 7, and more available for pre-order here.

Created in partnership with Four Screens and officially authorized by the Ol’ Dirty Bastard estate, this taunt and turbulent graphic novel collection debuting in November 2024 features new stories, covers, and contributions from an epic cast every bit as sprawling as the city within: Troy-Jeffrey Allen, Paris Alleyne, David Brame, Dojo Gubser, Jay Hero, Maan House, Mike Del Mundo, Jason Pierre, Ike Reed and David Gorden, Chris Robinson, Regine Sawyer, Damion Scott, Felipe Sobreiro, Ronald Wimberly, and more.

In a fractured New York City, an elemental impact event has caused different versions of the city’s most infamous neighborhoods from across the multiverse to converge together into a single reality. Spectral apparitions now haunt the streets of Queens. In the Lower East Side, a rogue artificial intelligence has seized the streets. A hundred blocks north, time travelers are throwing a block party in Harlem. And that’s only the beginning…  Our guide through this splintered mutation of New York’s past, present, and future is none other than Ol’ Dirty Bastard himself. Follow him as he leads us through odd, urgent, and powerful tales that cast freedom and oppression, wealth and poverty, love and loss, and even life or death like so many dice in a cosmic game of chance.

Born Russell Jones in Fort Greene, Brooklyn and re-christened Ol’ Dirty Bastard as a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan, ODB’s outrageous lyrics and captivating style stole the spotlight as Wu-Tang’s popularity exploded into the mainstream with their now-classic debut album, Enter the 36 Chambers. By the mid-1990s, ODB was enshrined as one of the biggest artists in hip-hop, releasing his Grammy Award-nominated solo debut, Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version, and releasing multiple chart-topping collaborations that included Mariah Carey’s “Fantasy” and Pras’ “Ghetto Superstar.” Just as ODB’s fame and notoriety continued to expand into a variety of pseudonymous identities – Dirt McGirt, Osiris, Big Baby Jesus, and more – Jones tragically passed away in 2004 at the age of 35, but, today, remains one of the most universally recognized and respected MCs of his generation. The first authorized documentary film chronicling ODB’s turbulent life and times – Ol’ Dirty Bastard: A Tale of Two Dirtys, produced by Four Screens – will debut in 2024 on A&E Network.

ODB: Oddities, Discord, & B-Sides – Lyrical Ruckus in the City runs until Thursday, January 11 at 11:59 pm EST.
