Garth Ennis and Brian K Vaughan bring back Battle Action this August!

Get ready for action! Garth Ennis, Brian K Vaughan, John Wagner, Torunn Gronbekk and more head up the powerhouse creative team for the new Battle Action series – coming this summer!

Launching in August, the new ten-issue series will bring readers death-defying heroics and incredible action, delivered by a crack team of top comics creators, including a brand new revival of the controversial series ‘Kids Rule OK’ from Brian K Vaughan and Chris Burnham, and the final story of WWII aerial ace ‘Johnny Red’ by Garth Ennis and Keith Burns!

Combining stories and characters from 1970s classic comics Battle and Action, Ennis said Battle Action will deliver all the thrills that earned the original comics their hard-bitten, action-packed reputations…

Ennis and Burns will be joined on Battle Action by an all-star lineup of creators including John Wagner, Torunn Grønbekk, Dan Abnett, Rob Williams, John Higgins, Henry Flint, John McCrea, Steve White, and Tom Foster.

‘Kids Rule OK’ was the controversial and violent story that led to an issue of Action being pulled from shelves in 1976, now Vaughan and Burnham revisit this landmark series with a story set in a hostile future London where a young American boy runs for his life from a mob of xenophobic British Punks – but he has a secret weapon they aren’t expecting…

One of the most beloved characters in British comics history, Johnny Red is a fighter pilot in World War II who fights for peace and liberation. But this new story will cover a moment in his history which has never been seen before: the final days of World War II.

Alongside Johnny and returning heroes ‘Nina Petrova’, ‘Major Eazy’, ‘HMS Nightshade’, ‘Dredger’ and ‘Hellman of Hammer Force’, the series will expand to welcome in new takes on several other classic comics characters and stories – including killer shark ‘Hookjaw’, former-enslaved-man-turned-outlaw ‘El Mestizo’, and violent future sports series ‘Death Game’ – making Battle Action the most furiously action-packed comic on the stands!

The ten-issue series in magazine format kicks off in August with Battle Action #1, which will be available through all good comic book stores through Diamond Distribution.

Battle Action #1 is a nice throwback to classic war comics!

Battle Action returns with an all-new mini-series of war stories. This first issue sees the return of Johnny Red and his Falcon Squadron hunting down German raiders, written by Garth Ennis with art by Keith Burns. Also included is a newly-penned HMS Nightshade story by John Wagner, a tale focusing on the bonds of friendship forged during naval battles, drawn by Dan Cornwell.

The Boys Are Back With Second Omnibus Plus a Script Book

The Boys: Scriptbook TP Vol. 1

Dynamite has announced the ultimate companion volume to The Boys, a scriptbook allowing fans to go behind the scenes on how writer Garth Ennis and his team brought this boundary-smashing series to fans. As well as the hotly anticipated second omnibus tome of the complete series, in its premier presentation.

15 years ago, The Boys came out of nowhere and ripped through the status quo. The world of comics was changed forever, as legendary writer Garth Ennis, acclaimed illustrator Darick Robertson, and their collaborators brought a biting new take on superheroes to readers. Now after nearly 100 issues total in the franchise, Amazon’s Prime Video adaptation is nearing the debut of its third season and the first of multiple spinoffs. But how did these memorable and shocking tales make their way to the page?

In a new paperback volume just under 200 pages, Garth himself has curated a selection of seven standout scripts from the title’s run. Whether for iconic moments, interesting technique, or personal attachment, the choices include The Boys issues #1, 21, 38, 47, 53, 65, Butcher Baker Candlestickmaker #5, and Dear Becky #1. Each issue is presented with the full script by Ennis, followed by the final artwork by artists Darick Robertson, Russ Braun, Keith Burns, and John McCrea.

The Boys: Oversized Omnibus HC Vol. 2

The book is the perfect add-on to the set of three oversized hardcover omnibus volumes, with the second also now available to order ahead of its June release. This next one includes the riotous “Herogasm” story arc, a controversial look at the debauchery of the supes. Fans assumed there was no way the story could be adapted to film or television, but the Prime show is set to incorporate elements of it in season three. Fans of Wee Hughie will be excited to also read his spotlight miniseries, traveling back to Scotland and learning more about his origins.

The Boys Oversized Omnibus Volume 2 collects The Boys (2006) #31-47, The Boys: Herogasm #1-6, The Boys: Highland Laddie #1-6. As well as additional extras including a complete cover gallery, script pages, introductions, and more.

The Boys: Scriptbook TP Vol. 1 and The Boys: Oversized Omnibus HC Vol. 2 are slated for release in May 2022.

Oversized prestige format miniseries from the mind of Garth Ennis!

1944: Imperial Japan still commands most of Asia. Determined to regain their hold on Burma, the British send a special forces unit – the Chindits – deep behind Japanese lines. Their mission is to attack the enemy wherever they find him. What awaits them is a nightmare equal to anything the Second World War can deliver.

Colonel Keith Crosby and Doctor Alistair Whitamore have old scores to settle, being veterans of the long retreat through Burma two years before. But neither the jungle nor the foe have gotten any less savage, and when the shooting starts and the Japanese descend on the smaller British force in their midst, every man will be tested to his limit.

Writer Garth Ennis (The Boys, Preacher, DREAMING EAGLES) and artist PJ Holden (The Stringbags, World of Tanks, Judge Dredd) present a tale of hellish jungle warfare, as apparently civilized human beings descend into an apocalyptic heart of darkness.

NYCC 2018: AfterShock Announces Out of the Blue, their Next Graphic Novel from Garth Ennis and Keith Burns

At their New York Comic Con panel, AfterShock announced a brand new graphic novel, Out of the Blue. Written by Garth Ennis with art by Keith Burns, Out of the Blue is a brand new war comic story from Ennis.

The Second World War is almost over, but no one seems to have told the Germans- as Royal Air Force pilot Jamie McKenzie finds out when he’s assigned to deadly shipping strikes along the enemy coast. Flying the Mosquito fighter-bomber against heavily armed targets is dangerous enough at the best of times, but after incurring the wrath of his vengeful commanding officer, Jamie is assigned the most unpopular navigator in the unit- not to mention the least reliable aircraft. Worse still, the commander’s sights are firmly set on Jamie’s beautiful young wife, Beth.

Ennis and artist Burns re-unite after the success of their series Johnny Red, presenting another tale of World War Two aerial combat- featuring skies black with flak and enemy fighters, nail-biting low-level action, and the dark humor of men whose lives can be snatched away at any second… Out of the Blue.

Out of the Blue features colors by Jason Wordie, lettering by Rob Steen, and a cover by Burns. The 72 page graphic novel will retail for $19.99 and be released March 2019.
