Face Your Fears in Crownsville #1 – Rodney Barnes and Elia Bonetti Unearth Decades of Terror on November 5th!

Oni Press has unleashed a look inside Crownsville #1, the first in a chilling five-part series from Rodney Barnes and artist Elia Bonetti! Inspired by the real-life horrors of the notorious Maryland psychiatric hospital once called the “Hospital for the Negro Insane of Maryland” that preyed upon the segregated Black communities surrounding Annapolis, Maryland for decades, Crownsville #1 is a haunting fusion of true crime, tension-addled thriller, and roaring supernatural horror arriving in comic shops everywhere on November 5th with a DOUBLE-SIZED, 48 PAGE FIRST ISSUE

Founded at the turn of the 20th century outside of Annapolis, MD, the Crownsville Hospital was a notoriously segregated, all-Black psychiatric institute. After decades of overcrowding and neglect— alongside darker, more-persistent rumors of patient abuse and illegal medical experiments—it was finally closed. Today, it stands condemned—a crumbling testament to a legacy of all-too-real terror inflicted on a marginalized and vulnerable community. But even as a ruin of its former self, Crownsville still casts a long shadow. . . . When an unexplained death inside the abandoned hospital is ruled a suicide, Annapolis police detective Mike Simms and journalist Paul Blairare are compelled to dig deeper, only to discover the reality of the horrors that once took place there . . . and the powerful connection they share to the anguished spirits of the dead that are still locked within its walls.

The past is a ghost that will devour you whole… Discover why on November 5th as master storytellers Rodney Barnes and Elia Bonetti unleash one of 2025’s most enthralling, most terrifying, and most spectacular statements on horror in Crownsville #1 – featuring wrenching covers by Jason Shawn Alexander, interior artist Elia BonettiSyzmon Kudranski, and Andrea Sorrentino!

Oni Press has unveiled Crownsville #1 – the double-sized, 48-page first issue of a grim and gripping supernatural thriller from superstar writer Rodney Barnes and rising star Elia Bonetti inspired by the real-life horrors of the notorious Maryland psychiatric hospital that preyed upon the Black communities of Jim Crow-era Annapolis for decades.

With this chilling, five-part series exploring a terrifying modern-day mystery rooted in the hospital’s tragic past, Barnes — the Eisner Award-nominated writer of Killadelphia and Blackula and Peabody award-winning writer of The Boondocks and Wu-Tang: An American Saga — is collaborating with acclaimed artist Bonetti to craft a ghost story set in the ruins of the tragedy-laden site once called the “Hospital for the Negro Insane of Maryland,” which finally closed in 2004 decades of controversy and disrepair.

Friends, Enemies & Fallout in Death of Wolverine: The Logan Legacy!

After the Death of Wolverine comes…the world without Wolverine! Marvel has announced Death of Wolverine: The Logan Legacy, a new 7-issue mini-series focusing on the gaping hole left by the passing of the world’s greatest X-Man. Mourn for his loss through the eyes of some of his closest allies, and most bitter enemies.

Beginning in October and running through December, Death of Wolverine: The Logan Legacy stars characters with close ties to Logan – X-23, Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, Daken and Mystique – as they explore a world without Wolverine in it. Beginning and ending with issues written by blockbuster Death of Wolverine scribe Charles Soule, each issue of Death of Wolverine: The Logan Legacy focuses on a different character and features a different creative team showcasing some of the industry’s rising star writers and artists!

In an interview with Marvel.com, Soule said:

Think of Death of Wolverine as an inciting event, one thing that has seismic-level effects on the lives of a great deal of the Marvel Universe. We’ll start in The Logan Legacy by examining those effects on people close to Wolverine, but over time, we’ll range far and wide to see what sort of black hole Logan’s death actually leaves.

The Wolverine is many things to many different people. A father, a friend, a mentor, an enemy. What does the Marvel Universe look like without him in it? Find out as those closest to him explore the crippling loss of Logan in Death of Wolverine: The Logan Legacy beginning this October!
