SDCC 2013: Aspen BubbleGun #2 Exclusive

Aspen Comics has revealed their second San Diego Comic Con 2013 exclusive item, a BubbleGun #2 cover by Pasquale Qualano and Peter Steigerwald, only available at the Aspen Comics Booth #2321 and limited to 200 copies, with quantities made available on the AspenStore.com as well. BubbleGun creator and writer Mark Roslan will be appearing at the Aspen Comics Booth all week long during the con as well.

When the gang realized the “package” they painstaking retrieved could possibly be the most high-tech performance machine on the planet—and more importantly, a young, kidnapped cyber boy—the weight of their crime quickly comes into focus. Secrets are revealed, alliances shattered, and one of the team could literally never recover her psyche as the stakes have grown far greater than they could have ever imagined!

Aspen Comics revealed their first exclusive SDCC item recently, a Fathom: The Elite Saga #1 cover by Joe Benitez and Peter Steigerwald, only available at the Aspen Comics Booth #2321, with quantities made available on the AspenStore.com as well. This Comic Con exclusive cover for Aspen’s weekly Fathom event commemorating 15 years of Fathom will be limited to 250 copies, and the publisher will be featuring appearances by both Benitez and Steigerwald at the Aspen Comics Booth throughout the weekend.

The publisher will be unveiling more SDCC exclusives throughout the week in addition to some major announcements regarding their upcoming projects to be shown at the “Ten Years of Aspen Comics” panel on Friday at Comic Con.

Picks of the Week: Superman Unchained #1 and 9 other Choices

I’ve been a bit down on Superman since the launch of DC’s New 52. In general, I think the existing series lack something, though not quite sure I can put my finger on it. Some writing is just incomprehensible and others lack the wonder and excitement I’m looking for. That’s why I’m intrigued by Superman Unchained #1 from the team of writer Scott Snyder and artist Jim Lee. That team alone makes this a “buy” and one of the highest profile comics this week, probably this month.

With it being Superman’s 75th anniversary and a new movie out this week. I’m crossing my fingers this is the Superman comic I’ve been waiting for from a team I know can turn out amazing stuff.

American Vampire: The Long Road to Hell #1 – It’s American Vampire how is that not reason enough to purchase this!?
Bravest Warriors #9 – One of the most consistently funny comics on the market. Great for kids and adults.
BubbleGun #1 – Aspen’s latest series is an anime like sci-fi adventure. Cool premise and interesting art.
Ghost Town #1 – My favorite so far of Action Lab’s Danger Zone line. The concept is terrorists with the ability to time travel.
Six-Gun Gorilla #1 – Simon Spurrier + BOOM! = awesome!
Supurbia #8 – It’s super heroes mixed with a soap opera and it is fantastic.
Thor: God of Thunder #9 – Easily one of the best Marvel NOW! series. Not great for new readers, but an amazing story. Definitely should be read from the first issue.
Thumbprint #1 – Joe Hill’s latest comic series!

Aspen Heads to Heroes Con for the First Time

Aspen Comics is heading to Heroes Con for the first time as the publisher continues to celebrate its tenth anniversary and their “10 for 10” initiative. This weekend on June 7^th – 9^th in Charlotte, Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro, Peter Steigerwald, Mark Roslan, Cory Smith and Khary Randolph will be appearing throughout the weekend at the Aspen Comics Booth.

Aspen will be releasing their latest “10 for 10” offering at the con, BubbleGun #1, featuring a Heroes Con 2013 exclusive cover by Khary Randolph and Emilio Lopez, limited to 250 copies. BubbleGun is Aspen’s new sci-fi, action-adventure series from creator Mark Roslan with art by Mike Bowden and David Curiel.

The publisher will also be releasing a special Aspen Splash Heroes Con 2013 cover by Aspen founder and superstar artist Michael Turner and Beth Sotelo with Peter Steigerwald, limited to 250 copies.

In addition to exclusive comics, Aspen will also be offering an all new lineup of their industry-leading art prints, featuring the latest Aspen Tour Print Heroes Con edition (Limited to 100 editions), as well as the new Aspen Splash 2013 Heroes Con print by Michael Turner and Peter Steigerwald (Limited to 100 editions) as well as new BubbleGun prints by Mike Bowden and Khary Randolph (Limited to 30 each).

Aspen Reveals BubbleGun

Aspen Comics has revealed more info on their June release in their successful “10 for 10” anniversary initiative. For their fifth release on June 12th, Aspen will be debuting an all-new cyber-punk action-adventure series, BubbleGun, by creator and writer Mark Roslan with art by Mike Bowden and David Curiel.

You can get this first issue for just $1! Aspen will also be offering a special Aspen Reserved Edition cover for BubbleGun #1 featuring art by Bowden and colorist Peter Steigerwald. Fans who reserve BubbleGun #1 by adding it to their pullbox with their local retailers will be eligible to receive the Aspen Reserved Edition of BubbleGun #1.

Fans who collect all ten of Aspen’s “10 for 10” Aspen Reserved Edition #1 covers each month through their local retailer will be eligible to receive the full-size Aspen “Perfect 10’s” jam poster absolutely free.

In addition to the debut issue, Aspen is also offering an Aspen Reserved Edition cover for BubbleGun #2 by Mark Brooks, along with a BubbleGun #2 J. Scott Campbell Retailer Incentive cover available in July.

J. Scott Campbell Join Aspen’s “10 for 10” Initiative

Aspen Comics continues to add more incentive for fans and new readers to join in on the publishers’ tenth anniversary initiative with the announcement of superstar artist J. Scott Campbell coming aboard to provide covers for all ten “10 for 10” issue #2 releases.

All of Aspen’s issue #2’s as part of their “10 for 10” initiative will feature the retailer incentive exclusive edition by J. Scott Campbell, and Aspen encourages fans and new readers to check with their local retailer for details on how to reserve their copy. Aspen Comics Unveils Full Slate of “10 for 10” titles and Jam Poster

Aspen Comics is ready to kick off the new year—and also celebrate their tenth anniversary year in the industry—by announcing their full slate of titles in their ambitious “10 for 10” initiative, beginning this February.

For Aspen’s “10 for 10”, the publisher will be debuting a new series each month for ten straight months, featuring five all new properties and five well-known returning series, with each debut #1 issue offered for only $1. The full list of titles is as follows:

February – Legend of the Shadow Clan (Brand New Series)
March – Shrugged Volume 2
April – Jirni (Brand New Series)
May – Charismagic Volume 2
June – BubbleGun (Brand New Series)
July – All New Fathom
August – Awaken Skies/Overtaken (Brand New Series)

Aspen is also offering special Aspen “Reserved Edition” covers for each new “10 for 10” release. New readers and fans who add each “10 for 10” release at their local comic shop’s subscription service will be eligible to purchase the “Reserved Edition” covers. Fans who purchase all ten “10 for 10” releases will then be eligible to receive the full-size Aspen “Perfect Tens” poster featuring all ten Reserved Edition covers by the series artists and colored by Peter Steigerwald. Aspen suggests those interested in acquiring the “Perfect Tens” poster and “Reserved Edition” covers to inquire about this special offer with their local retailer today. Aspen also encourages fans and retailers alike to check out the host of other special incentives for their “10 for 10” titles including special CGC signed editions, original hand-drawn covers, and exclusive comic shop variant covers featuring the store’s respective logo on the cover.

Fans and new Aspen readers will also be able to choose their adventure for August’s “10 for 10” release between two all new series: Awaken Skies and Overtaken. Aspen will feature an online voting poll, as well as an in-store voting ballot at comic shops in the coming weeks to allow the public to vote on which property they would like to see in August. The publisher will reveal more details about the voting process soon.
