Fanboy favorites from Star Trek star William Shatner and The X-Files creator Chris Carter to Syfy’s hit series 12 Monkeys and Deadpool director Tim Miller are squarely in the spotlight for Smithsonian magazine’s fourth annual The Future Is Here Festival, a three-day event highlighting the most advanced thinking in science, technology, space, art and engineering from a dazzling array of experts, visionaries and noted science-lovers.
The Festival kicks off on Friday, April 22nd at the Shakespeare Theatre’s Sidney Harman Hall with an exclusive ticketed evening event featuring Shatner, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Star Trek; a conversation with Carter, fresh off the triumphant return of The X-Files to television; and an exclusive glimpse into the thrilling second season of Syfy’s hit series 12 Monkeys (premieres April 18) with special advance footage presented by stars Aaron Stanford and Amanda Schull and executive producer Terry Matalas.
USA TODAY entertainment writer Brian Truitt will conduct the conversation with Carter, and renowned astronomer/author Phil Plait will moderate the 12 Monkeys panel.
Programming for Saturday and Sunday includes appearances by Deadpool director Tim Miller, The Martian author Andy Weir, explorers Céline & Alexandra Cousteau, noted science fiction author Bruce Sterling, leading NASA scientists and a profound list of visionary speakers and presenters, offering the audience an eye-opening look into the future. Among the entertaining events on the weekend slate is an electrifying concert by Tesla Coils band Arc Attack, and a performance of mind-bending techno tricks by Marco Tempest, the world’s leading cyber illusionist.

William Shatner to Host Star Trek 50th Anniversary Celebration At Inaugural Silicon Valley Comic Con
The original Captain Kirk, William Shatner, has set coordinates for Silicon Valley Comic Con (SVCC), Steve Wozniak’s pop culture and technology expo debuting in March 2016. Tickets are now on sale for the inaugural event, which has added a Friday night opening due to overwhelming interest and support. SVCC will bring top celebrities, film, TV, independent artists, comic books, cosplay, video games, music and technology to the San Jose Convention Center the weekend of March 18-20, 2016.
As the first official details for SVCC to be revealed, William Shatner will host a special 50th anniversary celebration for Star Trek alongside other stars from the acclaimed TV and film series. More information about the celebration and the rest of the special events for SVCC will be released later this fall.

The standout lineup will also include Daryl “DMC” McDaniels, Sean Astin, Adam West, Burt Ward, Ralph Macchio and many others.
Fillion, Campbell, Glau, McDaniels and Astin will appear on Saturday and Sunday, April 5-6. Shatner will attend on Friday and Saturday; Macchio, West and Ward are scheduled for all three days. This marks the second Wizard World St. Louis Comic Con; a successful inaugural event was held in March 2013.

Eisner Award Hall of Famer Stan Lee, Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead, pop culture icon William Shatner, Summer Glau and WWE Superstar Sheamus are among the top celebrities scheduled to attend Wizard World Ohio Comic Con, September 20-22 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The standout roster will also include Michael Rooker, Laurie Holden and Chandler Riggs of The Walking Dead and Ernie Hudson of Ghostbusters. It is the sixth in the 2013 series produced by Wizard World, Inc. and will also feature a top-drawer collection of well-known artists and writers and a variety of activities, exhibitors and special attractions.
Lee, Rooker and Hudson will be in attendance all three days; Reedus, Riggs and Glau will appear on Saturday and Sunday; Shatner will be on site on Friday evening and Saturday; and Sheamus will appear on Saturday only.
Additionally, all full price attendees will receive a free copy of the Exclusive Variant Cover of The Walking Dead #1 comic, available only at Wizard World Ohio Comic Con.

Wizard World Comic Con events bring together thousands of fans of all ages to celebrate the best in pop-fi, pop culture, movies, graphic novels, comics, toys, video gaming, television, sci-fi, gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more. Wizard World Ohio Comic Con show hours are Friday, Sept. 20, 3-8 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 21, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
A first-class lineup of topical programming takes place all three days at the event, with celebrity Q&A’s, comics-themed sessions, costume contest, movie screenings, evening parties and more. Sunday, Sept. 22, is also Kids Day, with an array of activities and programming specially designed for the younger Wizard World fans.
