IDW Publishing has announced acclaimed author Timothy Zahn is joining the final frontier with a new original graphic novel, Star Trek: Roc’s Egg, set to release October 2027. The legendary science fiction and fantasy author is best known for his New York Times-bestselling Star Wars: Thrawn trilogy and his work as creative consultant for the Disney+ miniseries Ahsoka, as well as the Hugo Award-winning Cascade Point. Zahn will be teaming up with celebrated comic artist Ángel Hernández to bring this all-new Star Trek adventure to life.

This announcement arrives as IDW Publishing continues to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Star Trek.

Something is rotten on Deep Space 9.

When a mysterious artifact known as a Roc’s Egg arrives on the station—and is seemingly destroyed in transit—a Federation JAG investigation is called in to uncover what really happened. But the deeper the team digs, the stranger the mystery becomes: a secret auction, a station full of wealthy collectors and dangerous criminals, a priceless artifact that may not be what it seems, and a murder waiting to happen.

From acclaimed author Timothy Zahn and artist Ángel Hernández comes Star Trek: Roc’s Egg, a twisty new mystery set aboard Deep Space 9 where everyone has something to hide—and the truth may be more valuable than the treasure itself.

Graphic featuring the title 'Star Trek RCS Egg' with the names 'Timothy Zahn' and 'Angel Hernandez' above it, set against a vibrant background with colorful streaks, indicating a sci-fi theme. Text includes 'Coming Soon.'

Star Wars: Thrawn, Vol. 1 is a solid debut that has some surprising depth to the story

Grand Admiral Thrawn’s legend begins far from the Empire, deep within the enigmatic Chiss Ascendancy. Exiled from his people and driven by a relentless strategic brilliance, Thrawn navigates a treacherous world of shifting loyalties, hidden threats, and political maneuverings. Across dangerous missions and high-stakes confrontations, he proves himself a master tactician—one whose cold precision and insight draw the attention of powers beyond his own galaxy.

This is the story of Thrawn’s earliest rise, reimagined in striking manga form. From the shadows of the Unknown Regions to the brink of Imperial discovery, Star Wars: Thrawn: The Manga Vol. 1 charts the formative steps of a mind destined to reshape the galaxy.

heroes reborn featuredOn September 25, 2015, leading German publisher Bastei Lübbe will release the first in a series of novellas to tie in with the premiere of NBC‘s Heroes Reborn, the reboot of the globally successful TV show Heroes.

In a joint venture from Bastei Lübbe and multi-platform entertainment studio Imperative Entertainment, the Heroes Reborn novella series will be initially published as six e-books and audiobooks, with an anthologized print edition to follow. The novellas will be written by various authors including New York Times bestselling author Timothy Zahn and multimillion bestselling novelist Kevin J. Anderson. The six short thrillers will focus on both new and familiar characters from Heroes, with some of the novellas extending the narrative from the new series while others help fill in the gap between the old series and the new.

The Heroes Reborn novella series launches with Brave New World by David Bishop, which ties in with the first episode of the Heroes Reborn series. A Matter of Trust by Timothy Zahn focuses on a priest with a dark secret, while Nobody, an original tale by Kevin J. Anderson and Peter J. Wacks, involves the power and the curse of physical attraction. Duane Swierczynski‘s contribution is a cat-and-mouse thriller about a murderous husband and wife couple whose next intended victim proves highly elusive, while Stephen Blackmoore‘s story is an action-packed tale of police corruption. Finally, Keith De Candido‘s Save The Cheerleader, Destroy The World tells the full story of what happened to everybody’s favorite cheerleader, Claire Bennet.

You can pre-order the series now.
