Dark Horse Comics has announced the promotion of Randy Lahrman to Vice President of Product Development and Sales and the return of former Dark Horse employee Tim Wiesch as its new Vice President of Licensing

With a Bachelor’s Degree in English and an MFA in Creative Writing from San Diego State University, and an MBA from Capella University, Randy Lahrman joined the Dark Horse team in June of 2019 as Sales Manager with over sixteen years of experience in the field. Since joining, Randy has been instrumental in establishing strong relationships with new and existing buyers and business partners. In addition, Randy has fostered excellent external relationships with vendors and key distributors. Randy is supported by his wonderful partner, Amy, his daughter Genesee, and their cat Brock-Lee Obama.

Hailing from a corn field outside of Chicago, Tim Wiesch is a licensing professional who has spent the past decade and a half negotiating deals in the entertainment space across a vast array of mediums and properties. Wiesch began his career at Dark Horse Comics in sales and international licensing before exploring other professional opportunities including licensing at Mondo and the Alamo Draft House Cinemas. In addition to the relationships he’s developed over the years, he’s also expanded his portfolio to include tabletop gaming development, comic book writing, as well as metalsmithing for the fun of it. He is incredibly excited to return to Dark Horse, bringing back what he’s learned as well as what he’s passionate about and incorporating the two into his new position.

Mondo Gets Massive With New Line Of Marvel Mecha Toy Collectibles

Spider-Man Mecha

After three years of development, Mondo has unveiled the first figure in their Marvel Mecha line: Spider-Man Mecha, inspired by their love for Manga and Japanese Mecha designs from the 80s and 90s. Once the team received the blessing from Marvel they decided to move forward and design a line of large-scale figures based on that idea, along with an original Manga storyline that comes packaged with these unique must-own toy collectibles. The Spider-Man Mecha replica is available for pre-order now as a regular version and a Symbiote limited-edition at MondoShop.com.

Mondo’s Tim Wiesh developed the story behind the Marvel Mecha, and wrote original Mangas that accompany each figure in the new toy line.

Late in the early 23rd Century mankind took its first real steps onto the galactic stage. A new Plasma Engine technology had made the exploration of the furthermost limits of the Milky Way achievable within an incredibly short amount of time. And explore they did. Within the span of just two generations humankind would call hundreds of planets home. To protect all of these new expeditions, the Governments of Earth created an elite space fighting force known as MECHA where only the best of the best are given the opportunity to pilot the most incredible force in the galaxy. But in those outer reaches of space, an unknown terror was emerging. Merchant vessels and military ships alike were found abandoned or, even worse, with no survivors throughout the galaxy in a rapidly accelerating pattern. Across all known space the Mecha are on high alert but without concrete evidence of what they should be looking for very little has been done to protect the space travelers. That is about to change…

Spider-Man is the first Marvel character to get the Mondo Mecha treatment, with Black Panther and Captain America next in line ready to throw down with city-stomping kaiju.

Peter Parker jumps into the 100-foot Spider-Man Mecha to battle giant sized intergalactic threats! Join in the battle by collecting your very own figure replica of Peter’s famed Mecha. With over 30 points of articulation, many accessories including a web shield, web attacks and two swords. This 10-inch replica is the perfect way to show your support to the cause and take the fight to those giant sized threats! All in the comfort of your living room.

Oni Press Appoints Tim Wiesch Vice President of Business Development

tim wieschRiding high atop a wave of successful, acclaimed new titles, awards, and opportunities, Oni Press has announced the appointment of Tim Wiesch as Vice President of Business Development.

Wiesch rides triumphantly into Oni Press after spending five years as Dark Horse Comics’ Director of Foreign Licensing, spearheading the publishing of numerous Dark Horse titles in territories across the globe, from South America to Mongolia, and much of the world in between. Though, an expert in the field of foreign licensing, that’s far from all Wiesch will be responsible for in his new position at Oni Press.

2014 has been a time of thunderous success and growth for Oni Press.  As the staff prepares for the rest of the convention season and undertakes a rapidly growing publishing schedule, it’s safe to say this storm is far from over.

Congrats to Tim on the position!
