So it begins….

“Crisis on Infinite Earths” starts out explaining the Infinitube, multiverses and the age of heroes, the Champions of the Multiverse. It kicks off with a montage about the heroes coming together across multiple multiverses and a voiceover about the coming big ad, coming to end all of the worlds. If that wasn’t enough to pack into the first three minutes of episode one, we got a whole scaredy-cat dragon that Supergirl has to talk down to gilla monster size to bring home. There are earthquakes in National City, a stressed-out speed talking Brainiac and a tidy little back story on the Monitor and his previous meddling antics and the Anti-Monitor.

While Kara and her band of do-gooders try and formulate a plan, they learn that the big bads’ trajectory is headed straight for is headed for Argo City, which means Superman, Lois and Kara’s mom are all in danger. Kara sends a hologram to Clark, Lois, and their new baby to warn them of the danger and Kara’s mom (aka OG Lois from Smallville) helps the new parents to send their bundle of joy away from the imminent destruction in the same way that he was sent to earth, leaving Kara to mourn the loss of her entire Kryptonian family.

On another Earth, the Green Arrow is having a chat with his daughter, Mia about the end of his reign as the Green Arrow when Lila shows up to warn him that the Crisis has begun. Meanwhile, Barry Allen loses communication with his team when he is visited by Lila, who tells him the Monitor sent her to get him and she goes by Harbinger now. On another earth, Batwoman is kicking ass and taking names on her quest to find her rogue, mad as a hatter sister Alice when Harbinger snaps her up.  Atom and Sara are getting their trivia on, when they miss out on the winning question because they messed up history when Lila shows up.  Everyone (except for the Legends and the Flash)  end up back at the DOJ where they learn about the anti matter-wave sweeping across the multiverse destroying everything in its path and Earth 38 is where the Monitor wants them to fight back before every universe is destroyed. A quantum tower goes up, seemingly out of nowhere with the sole purpose of slowing the inevitable down.

While Atom and Brainiac get nerdy with it, Lila tells the assembled team what’s at stake while Lois, Sara, and Brainiac volunteer as a tribute on a mission to find Superbaby’s missing pod, that’s on Earth 16. J’onn J’onzz goes to gather every alien he can find to fight to save Earth 38 while Alex coordinates the effort with the president to get everyone to Earth 1, and they come to the conclusion that they need Lena Luthor’s help to get everyone off the current earth. Kara tries to get Clark’s head back in the game while he feels sorry for not saving his aunt and not being on the mission to save his son. In typical Kara fashion, she gives him a pep talk and shares some of her hope with her and explains where she gets the strength to be so positive. In one of the sappier moments of the episode, she explains that as long as they keep fighting Krypton’s spirit is alive.

The Green Arrow goes off to find Barry and leaves Mia with a fancy new female fitted Green Arrow suit, the mantle is now hers. When the OG Arrow rocking his old suit he calls out to the Monitor, who promised him that if he died, then Barry could live but, now the Monitor is changing the rules and refuses to give him a straight answer so that they are better prepared.

Alex goes to talk to Lena and lets her know what’s going on and ask for her help but, Lena doesn’t make it easy and is still refusing to accept any responsibility for her actions. She agrees to help but, not without spewing her distrust and hate of all of her former friends.  On one Earth part of the team is trying to stop the big bad and end Lila’s army and on another Sara, Lois and Brainy are trying to find baby Johnathan who is under Oliver’s protection.

While Mia, the Green Arrow, Batwoman and Atom head in to meet (and hopefully stop) the army the Anti-Monitor has sent to take down the Quantum Tower, Supergirl, Superman and the Flash show up to help hold down the fort.  Lena & Alex try and figure out a way to open up a portal without incinerating anyone during transport and J’onn J’onzz holds a ship steady, ready and waiting to beam people out of danger. On another Earth Sara and another Oliver have a heart to heart and he learns of the happiness that he has in Sara’s Earth, Brainiac interrupts the heart to heart to let them know they need to leave or they can’t go back to the fight, leaving that world Oliver to a lonely existence where everyone he loves is dead.

Back on Earth 38, Supergirl and Superman decide to use their solar power to provide energy to the solar panels on the tower to give the people of their Earth a chance to survive and let the portal open. With every team member, Lila assembled they fight off the shadow demons to give them time to escape which seems noble except, that wasn’t part of the Monitor’s plan and he starts zapping them to another Earth to be ready for the next fight, all except for Oliver who attacks the Monitor rendering him helpless for bit so that he can continue shooting his arrows at the Shadow Monsters to allow more people time to escape but, in the process after saving over a billion people he is mortally wounded.

The Monitor brings him to Star City in Earth 1 so that the rest of his friends can say goodbye. As he dies, Nash shows up and explains that he let the Anti-Monitor out and Oliver says his farewell to Mia, telling her to find her mother and tell her he loves her. He also tells Kara and Barry that they are his friends and he died so that they could live and fight. As the episode comes to a close, Nash announces that the multiverse is doomed.
