Smile and A Quiet Place Expand their Terrifying Worlds With IDW Dark

From the big screen into the pages of comics, IDW Dark presents spine-chilling new chapters inspired by the hit Paramount Pictures horror franchises Smile and A Quiet Place.

Scaring comic shops this September is Any Given Smile, a frightening five-issue story crafted by Eisner Award-nominated writer Stephanie Williams, GLAAD Media Award-winning artist Pablo Collar, and featuring colors by Triona Farrell and letters by Ariana Maher.  

The year is 1995 and all eyes are on the American Arena League football championship game. The Sharks gear up for the most significant event in the AAL’s 20-year history, and their sudden-star backup quarterback is feeling the pressure from his teammates, his fans, and his debts to the city’s gambling underworld. A string of suicides hits the community hard, drawing a suspicious sports journalist deeper into that world to examine their connection to the big game.  No one can trust anything or anyone as a mind-bending and mysterious Smile Entity and its horrifying visions threaten their payouts, their sanity, and their lives…

Shhhhh. Don’t make a sound this November when A Quiet Place: Rising Tides crawls into comic shops. The tense and captivating five-issue thriller is created by the acclaimed duo of writer Declan Shalvey and artist Luke Sparrow, featuring colorist Colin Craker and letterer Jodie Troutman.

When a young woman named Grace tracked down her estranged father to a run-down houseboat in the Florida Keys, she expected disappointment, resentment, maybe even closure. Instead, the entire world ended.

Now stranded in the aftermath of the invasion that shattered civilization, she and her sick, aging father cling to survival on the open water – the only space safe from the creatures who attack at the sound of a single breath. But his oxygen is running low, supplies are disappearing quickly, and the deadly predators circling the shoreline are learning fast. And on the horizon, a hurricane is coming.

The second act of “The Wonder War” begins this September! DC has revealed that Act 2 of the storyline begins on September 16 with Wonder Woman #37 by writer Tom King and artist Daniel Sampere, and continues on September 30 with Wonder Woman Annual: Wonder War – The Matriarch #1, a 48-page special from writer Stephanie Williams, writer Leah Williams, artist Eduardo Pansica, and artist Belén Ortega.

In Wonder Woman #37, “The Wonder War” continues! Steve Trevor and his daughter Trinity arrive in the present after a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of the Matriarch 20 years in the future. Now they must find Wonder Woman and convince her of the threat a seemingly innocent child will pose in the years to come. Will the truth prevail? Don’t miss the exciting first chapter of “The Wonder War Act 2”!

Wonder Woman #37, written by Tom King with art and cover by Daniel Sampere, will feature variant covers by David Nakayama, Kyuyong Eom, and Mahmud A. Asrar. This first chapter of “The Wonder War Act 2” publishes on September 16 with a main cover priced at $4.99 US and card stock variant covers priced at $5.99 US.

In Wonder Woman Annual: Wonder War – The Matriarch #1, we witness the Matriarch’s inferno. After the shocking events of Wonder Woman #34, the Matriarch must crawl her way through Hell and back to the land of the living to stop Steve Trevor and Trinity from changing the past. The only thing that stands in her way is a river filled with the souls of heroes and villains alike who perished by her hand. Retribution is coming for the Matriarch. Will she survive it, or is she doomed to fate?

Just When You Thought You Were Safe…The Fifth Volume of Creepshow Is Coming!

Our benevolent host is back with more spine-chilling, hair-raising tales to haunt comic book shops this September! Skybound and Image Comics announced a fifth volume of Creepshow, the hugely popular comic book anthology based on Greg Nicotero’s Shudder TV series produced and licensed by Evoke Entertainment Company. 

The Eisner Award-nominated horror anthology returns with more nightmare fuel and two new shuddersome stories in every issue from your favorite creators! 

Creepshow Vol. 5 #1 will feature stories by the inimitable comics talent of Tyler Boss, Francesca Ciregia, and Lorenzo De Felici. 

In the spirit of all iterations of Creepshow in pop culture, every issue of the Creepshow comic series comes packed with two stomach-churning stories from your favorite creators, designed to shock, disturb, and delight in equal measure.

Shaq, Stephanie Williams, Ray-Anthony Height, Studio Sky-Tiger, and Archie team for Vengeance Unchained: The Legend of Black Caesar

Shaquille O’Neal is setting sail into the comic book world! The basketball Hall of Famer and business mogul has partnered with Archie Comics to develop Vengeance Unchained: The Legend of Black Caesar, a new original comic book series coming this fall centered on the rise of one of history’s most mythological pirates, by Eisner-nominated writer Stephanie Williams with artwork by Ray-Anthony Height and Studio Sky-Tiger. Colin Smeeton, Mike Parris, and Matthew Gross from O’Neal’s Jersey Legends Productions/Authentic Studios are overseeing the project for the studio. 

Described as a grounded, character-driven pirate epic, the project charts the transformation of an African king from royalty to slavery to a feared outlaw of the Caribbean, blending historical inspiration with cinematic storytelling. The project is positioned as a sprawling, franchise-ready narrative, combining the political complexity of Black Sails, the sweeping scope of Vikings, and the character-driven storytelling of Shōgun. The release described the tone as leans “Gladiator on the high seas,” with a focus on power, survival, and vengeance.

Growing up, I always loved stories about warriors who refused to quit. Black Caesar starts as a king, loses everything, and takes his freedom back on his own terms. That’s the kind of story I want to help tell. We built something that’s going to entertain you and make you think. I’m ready for the world to see what we created with Archie Comics, an iconic brand I have been a big fan of for many years. Archie has such an incredible legacy of storytelling, and being able to collaborate with a brand that has meant so much to generations of fans made this project even more exciting for me

DC Announces New Series, Returning Favorites, and a Crossover for DC GO!

DC has revealed what’s coming to DC GO!, the publisher’s mobile-first webcomics imprint. Launching in October 2024, DC GO! has become a destination for fast-paced, character-driven digital stories designed for vertical reading. DC GO! delivers original DC stories and reimagined classics in an easy-to-read scrolling format, with episodes crafted for quick, engaging reading sessions and fresh takes on iconic characters.

In 2026, the imprint will debut new seasons for five returning fan-favorite series, launch three brand-new originals, and bring storylines together in its first-ever crossover event, “Runway to Ruin!,” marking DC GO!’s biggest slate to date. 

DC GO! will kick off its 2026 slate with new seasons of three of its most-read originals:

  • Jon Kent: This Internship Is My Kryptonite (Slice-of-Life/Superhero Comedy) follows Jon’s attempts to balance superheroics with a Daily Planet internship (June 2026) by writer Sam Camp and artist Seraji. The first episode of the new season is available now on DC Universe Infinite.
  • The Magical Mysteries of Shazam! (Fantasy/Supernatural Adventure) brings Billy Batson’s whimsical, monster-filled world to life with heart and humor (August 2026) by writer Steve Orlando and artist Giopota.
  • Nothing Butt Nightwing (Action/Comedy) sends Dick Grayson undercover as a globe-trotting supermodel in a stylish, comedic caper (September 2026) by writer Patrick R. Young and artist Moy R. Marco.
Jon Kent: This Internship Is My Kryptonite

These titles will lead into DC GO!’s first imprint-wide crossover event, “Runway to Ruin!” arriving October 2026 with an Alpha episode written by Patrick R. Young and art by Andrew Drilon. The event will weave together storylines from across the slate throughout the month, culminating in an Omega episode. Following the crossover, DC GO! will debut three new original webcomic series and launch new seasons of two more continuing series.

For fans of Warriors and a Wee Wonder and Harley Quinn in Paradise, new stories are on the horizon! Stay tuned for Warriors and a Tween Wonder (Slice-Of-Life/Comedy) by writer Stephanie Williams and artist Dominic Bustamante, and Poison Ivy in Briarwood (Romance/Comedy) by writer CRC Payne and artist Bailie Rosenlund, launching later this year.

This all coincides with the line’s first print releases in October 2026, with Ringo Award Winner for Best Humor Webcomic Nothing Butt Nightwing Vol. 1 (collecting episodes 1-13), Ringo Award Nominee for Best Humor Webcomic Harley Quinn in Paradise Vol. 1 (collecting episodes 1-13), and Ringo Award Winner for Best Webcomic Renaissance of Raven (collecting the full series). These releases mark the first time these DC GO! stories will be available in print, expanding the imprint’s reach to new readers and retailers.

New History of the DC Universe: The Dakota Incident Gets a New Printing. Returns in April

Nothing alleged about it, following strong demand at comic shops, New History of the DC Universe: The Dakota Incident is returning to shelves on April 22. Dan Mora leads the second printing with a brand-new Second Printing variant cover, while Diego Olortegui’s second Printing main cover will feature a recolored logo.

The issue is led by writers Joseph P. Illidge, Stephanie Williams, Morgan Hampton, and Nikolas Draper-Ivey, with art by Carlo Pagulayan, Valentine De Landro, Edwin Galmon, and others. Covers for the issue include work by Diego Olortegui, Denys Cowan, Dan Jurgens, Yasmine Putri, Carlo Pagulayan, and Sway. The story reframes Dakota City as a pivotal battleground whose consequences continue to ripple throughout the DC Universe. 

Spinning out of the pages of New History of the DC Universe, uncover an untold moment in DC history, where a murder leads to an all-out war between the heroes of Dakota City and the U.S. government led by Lex Luthor.
