Sbam! to publish Italian translations of Sitcomics’ Library

Sitcomics has reached a licensing deal with Milan-based Sbam! to translate and publish Sitcomics in Italy.

The four-year agreement gives Sbam! exclusive rights to publish hardcover, Italian translations of all Sitcomics Binge Book titles including The Blue Baron, Super ‘Suckers, and upcoming super-hero team book The Heroes Union from Roger Stern, Ron Frenz and Sal Buscema.

Sitcomics’ unique Binge Book format, which delivers a self-contained, 64-page storyline for only $3.99, is similar to the “album” format that has been the European standard for decades. 

Sbam! will begin releasing Sitcomics in print this January. English language Binge Books are available now at select comic shops across the USA and Canada via Sitcomics’ Sell-Thru Distribution System. Sitcomics’ current and upcoming creative roster includes David Michelinie, Tom DeFalco, Corin Howell, Jeff Shultz, Craig Rousseau, Renee Reeser Zelnick, Tom Richmond, Al Milgrom, Randy Bishop, Blair Shedd, Neil Vokes, Mike Vosburg, and Todd Dezago.

Sitcomics is Giving Artists 100% of Revenue Through September 30th

Sitcomics is stepping up due to the impact of COVID-19 and doing what it can to help the freelance comic community. The publisher is implementing “Look Forward,” a five-month initiative that will see 100% of the company’s print and digital revenue going directly to the regular artists of their ongoing series.

The goal of the initiative is to help “raise awareness of the struggles face by comic book freelancers during this pandemic while bringing a bit of financial security to our own little corner of that community.” 

In the announcement, Sitcomics co-publisher and veteran TV writer Darin Henry said:

The more we support comic artists during this difficult time, the better equipped they will be to entertain us when it’s over.

Sitcomics artists will receive 100% of the publisher’s revenue from retailer orders, digital purchases, and “Unlimited reads” through September 30th, 2020. 

Artists whose Sitcomics work is now available in print and via digital platforms include Ron Frenz (The Blue Baron), Jeff Shultz (Super ‘Suckers), Craig Rousseau (Startup), Blair Shedd (Telepathetic), Tom Richmond (Z-People), Steven Gordon (Headhunter), Corin Howell (The Renegades) and Al Milgrom and Neil Vokes (Morbid Museum).

Because the artists have already been paid for all previous and current assignments, half of the monthly Look Forward payments will become advances for future Sitcomics work. The remaining 50% will be considered bonus compensation to help cover income lost due to convention cancellations. During this same five-month period, all new payments for Sitcomics work by regular inker Sal Buscema, colorist Glenn Whitmore, and letterer Marshall Dillon will include an additional 20% compensation bonus above their normal page rates.

Sitcomics are published in an exclusive Binge Book™ format which gives readers 64-page, self-contained story arcs for only $3.99.  Binge Books are only available at comic shops, many of which are open for curbside and mail order business. Sitcomics Announces a Brand New Distribution Model

Look alive, comic book fans! Comic publisher Sitcomics has announced a new distribution model in hopes to disrupt the current model. The publisher has announced “Sell-Through Distribution,” a new national comic book distribution system that will ring in the new year by putting the buying power back in the hands of readers.

Sell-Through Distribution will usher in The Binge Age of Comics on Wednesday January 3rd when over 100 comic shops in all 50 states, including Comix Experience in San Francisco, Mile High Comics in Denver, Fat Jack’s Comicrypt in Philadelphia and all eleven locations of Graham Crackers Comics, begin handing out free copies of The 2018 Binge Book Catalog to their pull list subscribers. The glossy, 8-page catalog contains complete solicitations for Sitcomics’ 2018 wave of Binge Books, the all-new, exclusive comic book format that gives readers a complete, 64-page, full-color, story arc for only $3.99. Customers have until January 25th to place orders at participating shops, but instead of the usual three-month gap between solicitations and release date, Sell-Through Distribution allows readers to pick up their brand-new Sitcomics less than a week later, on Wednesday January 31st, 2018!

Sitcomics’ Darin Henry said the shift is to position the publisher in the world of “binge entertainment.” Audiences now expect “entertainment to be complete, immediate, affordable, and very, very good.”

The creation of Sell-Through Distribution was inspired by Sitcomics’ unique 64-page Binge Book format which guarantees readers three times the usual amount of story and art for only $3.99.

 

Sitcomics is inviting every comic book store in the US to take part in its Sell-Through Distribution System but retailers won’t be asked to stock any Binge Books unless and until their customers use the catalog to order them. Readers who want more for their four-dollar entertainment investment should ask their local comic book shop to order the totally free 2018 Binge Book Catalog by emailing the publisher at editor@sitcomics.net. Shops that do decide to stock Sitcomics for their shelves will be eligible for the company’s new returnability policy.

Sitcomics will announce its complete solicitations, including plot summaries and creative teams on January 2nd, 2018. Additional announcements will follow, including locations of appearances by Sitcomics creators in comic shops across the USA on January 31st, 2018.
